N7K-C7010 is a modular Nexus 7000 chassis for large data center networks, not a populated fixed-port switch. Eight I/O slots and two dedicated supervisor slots separate interface hardware from system control. Line cards determine the completed system's network connections; the chassis does not supply built-in Ethernet downlinks or uplinks. Its front-accessible modules use a vertical arrangement, while front-to-back airflow accommodates hot-aisle and cold-aisle layouts. The discontinued N7K-C7009 provides seven I/O slots instead of eight. A Cisco Nexus 7000 10-Slot Switch Chassis must be specified as an assembled system or matched to compatible components already held in inventory.

9900 Gbps maximum fabric capacity and 5760 Mpps maximum IPv4 unicast forwarding describe an appropriately equipped system, not throughput available from the empty chassis. N7K-C7010 uses a passive midplane; installed I/O and fabric modules perform switching. Five fabric-module positions accommodate the fabric configuration separately from the front-facing interfaces. Component-status LEDs assist fault isolation across power, cooling, fabric, supervisor and I/O hardware. An assembled Cisco Nexus 7000 system supports NX-OS management through a scriptable CLI, XML interfaces, SNMP and Cisco DCNM web services. Electrical requirements depend on the installed components, supply arrangement and redundancy mode, so power-supply output ratings must not be treated as system input consumption.
N7K-C7010 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished chassis are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, clean boot, module bay recognition and N7K-C7010-FAN-S / N7K-C7010-FAN-F status. Specify the required condition and a line-by-line hardware bill of materials before placing the order. ORM warranties are up to 3-year extended on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Enterprise and volume orders accept POs, and government buyers have Net-30 terms.

When a staging build will use two supervisors, both must be the same model. A retained N7K-SUP2 inventory therefore requires another N7K-SUP2 for that paired configuration. Separate components being reused from components being purchased, and specify the intended supervisor pair before finalizing the chassis order.
When consolidating existing equipment into a rack, reserve 21RU for the ten-slot chassis and retain access from both aisles. Total front clearance is 1156 mm, with 889 mm required behind the chassis. Check cabinet placement, maintenance access and handling space before assigning the equipment to the purchase order.
For an installed modular-switch estate, a chassis spare can be specified separately from forwarding and control components already held in inventory. ORM supports RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US and MEA. Specify the receiving region, required condition and components being retained before issuing the spare-equipment purchase order.
A complete switch without additional hardware
N7K-C7010 is a chassis rather than a complete operating switch. Power supplies, supervisor hardware, I/O modules and fabric modules require separate configuration and ordering.
More than eight I/O module positions
Two of the ten front-facing module positions are dedicated to supervisors, leaving eight I/O slots. N7K-C7010 cannot accommodate a ninth I/O module.
Cisco service beyond February 2027
Cisco support for N7K-C7010 ends February 28, 2027. N9K-C9508 is the replacement chassis with eight line-card slots; specify its complete configuration separately.

N7K-C7010 identifies the Nexus 7000 ten-slot chassis, including N7K-C7010-FAN-S and N7K-C7010-FAN-F assemblies but no power supply. N7K identifies the family, while C7010 identifies the chassis model. The identifier is not a fixed Ethernet-port configuration or a network-license tier.
An assembled N7K-C7010 system supports a scriptable CLI, XML interfaces, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3 and Cisco DCNM web services. Management operates through supervisor hardware running NX-OS, rather than through the empty chassis alone. Specify the supervisor and intended management integration with the complete equipment configuration.
N7K-C7010 is discontinued: sales ended February 28, 2022, and the last support date is February 28, 2027. Service contract renewals ended May 29, 2026. Existing entitlement does not extend Cisco service beyond the final support date, so retained-system planning must use that deadline.
ORM offers N7K-C7010 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on refurbished units. Returns are 30 days in either condition; terms apply. Cisco's separate 1-year limited hardware warranty is bounded by the February 28, 2027 support deadline.
N7K-C7010 accepts N7K-AC-6.0KW, N7K-AC-7.5KW-US, N7K-AC-7.5KW-INT and N7K-DC-6.0KW power supplies, but supplies are not included with the chassis. Available power depends on supply count, input arrangement and redundancy mode. Specify the supplies and matching electrical connections as separate items in the equipment order.
N7K-C7010 has no fixed Ethernet access or uplink ports; installed I/O modules provide the network interfaces. Compatible modules include N7K-F348XP-25 for 1/10G, N7K-F312FQ-25 for 40G and N7K-F306CK-25 for 100G. Select interface modules and compatible optics rather than assuming that chassis slots contain usable ports.
An appropriately configured Nexus 7000 ten-slot system reaches 9900 Gbps maximum fabric capacity and 5760 Mpps maximum IPv4 unicast forwarding. These are configured-system ceilings, not throughput supplied by an empty chassis. Evaluate the selected supervisor, fabric and I/O hardware together when specifying the completed system.
N7K-C7010 includes two N7K-C7010-FAN-S assemblies and two N7K-C7010-FAN-F assemblies, with front-to-back chassis airflow. Cooling uses variable-speed operation and redundant assemblies. Rear access is required to service N7K-C7010-FAN-S and N7K-C7010-FAN-F, so cabinet depth alone does not establish whether the installation can be maintained.
The Nexus 7000 ten-slot chassis occupies 21RU and requires front and rear service access. Its chassis dimensions are 927 mm high, 439 mm wide and 841 mm deep. Account separately for cable management, aisle clearance and mounting hardware when checking the installation footprint before ordering.
N7K-C7010 provides eight I/O module slots, while N7K-C7009 provides seven; both models are discontinued. The additional I/O position distinguishes their expansion capacity. N7K-C7010 suits an eight-slot retained-system plan, while N7K-C7009 suits an existing seven-slot installation rather than a migration to a current chassis.
N7K-C7010-B2S2-R is a discontinued bundle containing two N7K-SUP2 supervisors and five N7K-C7010-FAB-2 modules, whereas N7K-C7010 is the chassis order. Neither includes power supplies. The chassis suits component reuse; the bundle suits replacement of the supervisor and fabric set together within an existing installation.
N9K-C9508 is Cisco's replacement for the discontinued N7K-C7010 chassis and provides eight line-card slots. N7K-C7010 serves replacement work in an existing Nexus 7000 installation; N9K-C9508 is the migration chassis. Specify the replacement system separately rather than assuming that existing chassis components can be transferred.
