The NIM-ES2-4 is a four-port Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2 switching module that enhances integrated router connectivity with full Layer 2 features.
It is compatible with Cisco ISR 1900, 2900, 3900, 4000 and 4400 series routers featuring NIM slots.
The module provides four RJ-45 ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-MDI/MDIX functionality.
Supported Layer 2 features include 802.1Q VLAN tagging, trunking, Spanning Tree Protocol variants, EtherChannel, PortFast, and storm control.
The NIM-ES2-4 requires a router reload for insertion or removal and does not support hot-swapping.
Power down the router, insert the module into the NIM slot, secure the ejector latches, reload the router, and verify module initialization.
Maximum power consumption is 6.2 Watts under full port load.
