Managed Access for Powered Small Business Endpoints

SF300-24PP-K9 is a managed, fixed-configuration switch with 24 Fast Ethernet PoE+ access ports and Gigabit uplinks. Its Layer 2+ capabilities include static IPv4 routing alongside VLAN switching. Two dedicated copper uplinks and two copper/SFP combo uplinks provide the upstream connections; each combo connection uses either its copper interface or its SFP interface. The rack-mount chassis belongs to the Cisco 300 Series Small Business lineup for business data, voice and wireless networks. SF300-24PP is the model name associated with this ordering identifier. The discontinued SF300-24MP-K9 sibling increases the shared PoE+ budget to 375W rather than changing the access-port speed.

Technical Details

12.8 Gbps switching capacity accommodates the fixed access and uplink interfaces, while 9.52 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets. Static IPv4 routing supports 512 routes, allowing local traffic to cross configured IP interfaces without requiring dynamic routing protocols. STP, RSTP and MSTP control switching loops; LACP supports link aggregation. SF300-24PP-K9 accommodates 16384 MAC addresses for learned forwarding entries. Management includes a browser interface over HTTP or HTTPS, Textview CLI, SSH and Telnet access, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. The full and menu-based CLI provide alternative configuration workflows. Internally, 128 MB of memory and 16 MB of flash support the embedded software and configuration. Two fans provide active cooling, so the chassis is not fanless.

Ordering

SF300-24PP-K9 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot and PoE output under load on every powered port, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition and quantity on the purchase order. ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply, while Cisco coverage ended October 31, 2023. For enterprise and volume orders, POs are accepted, government buyers receive Net-30, and stock and RMA coverage span the UK, EU, US and MEA with advance replacement.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

Ended manufacturer service coverage

SF300-24PP-K9 requires a purchasing plan without ongoing Cisco service: manufacturer support ended October 31, 2023. C1300-24P-4G is the current migration-chain endpoint; the intervening 350 and CBS350 models are discontinued.

Fiber transceiver selection

Fiber uplinks require a compatible transceiver choice before the PO: MGBSX1 supports Gigabit multimode connections to 300 m, while MGBLX1 supports Gigabit single-mode connections to 10 km.

Shared endpoint power allocation

Endpoint power must be allocated within 180W: 24 ports × 30W would require 720W. The per-port PoE+ maximum therefore does not permit every powered port to draw its maximum simultaneously.

Best For

Voice Endpoint Rollout

When an existing business network needs additional voice endpoints, automatic voice VLAN assignment and Auto Smartports can shape the configuration plan. Device discovery through CDP or LLDP-MED supports endpoint-specific port roles. Before the PO, specify the intended voice VLAN, endpoint compatibility requirements and configuration workflow.

Routed Network Segmentation

When separate workgroups need local IPv4 communication, the switch supports 128 IP interfaces and interface configuration on physical ports, VLANs, link aggregation groups or loopback interfaces. Build the interface plan before purchasing rather than treating every endpoint connection as a routed interface. Specify the required routing configuration on the PO.

Lab And Staging

When replacement equipment must be staged before installation, dual firmware images and text-editable configuration files provide distinct preparation tasks. Configuration files can be transferred between switches, while image selection remains a separate staging check. Specify the required firmware state and configuration handover requirements before the PO is released.

Not Suitable If

Gigabit speed on endpoint ports

The access ports operate at 10/100 Mbps, not Gigabit speed. C1300-24P-4G is the current migration-chain endpoint with 24 Gigabit Ethernet powered access ports.

10G connections to upstream equipment

The fixed uplinks provide Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. The chassis has no removable uplink-card option for adding 10G interfaces, so a 10G uplink requirement falls outside this configuration.

More than 30W per endpoint

PoE+ delivery is limited to 30W on an individual powered port and remains subject to the shared budget. Endpoints requiring greater per-port output exceed that limit.

Questions & Answers

What does the SF300-24PP-K9 part number identify?

SF300-24PP-K9 identifies the SF300-24PP managed Fast Ethernet PoE+ model in the Cisco 300 Series. The configuration has 24 powered access ports, two dedicated Gigabit copper ports and two Gigabit combo ports. Use the complete ordering identifier when specifying the model, rather than shortening it to the series name.

How is SF300-24PP-K9 managed?

SF300-24PP-K9 supports browser management over HTTP or HTTPS, full or menu-based Textview CLI, console access, SSH, Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. The software also includes Cisco Small Business FindIT Network and Cisco OnPlus integrations. Specify the management access and configuration handover required for the order.

Is SF300-24PP-K9 discontinued?

SF300-24PP-K9 is discontinued: Cisco end of sale was October 4, 2018, and support ended October 31, 2023. Software maintenance ended October 4, 2019. The migration chain passes through discontinued SF350-24P-K9-NA and CBS350-24P-4G-NA models before reaching the current C1300-24P-4G.

What condition and warranty does ORM offer for SF300-24PP-K9?

SF300-24PP-K9 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished. ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty coverage ended with manufacturer support on October 31, 2023.

Which older switches did SF300-24PP replace?

SF300-24PP replaced the discontinued SF300-24P regional ordering variants SRW224G4P-K9-AR, SRW224G4P-K9-AU, SRW224G4P-K9-BR, SRW224G4P-K9-CN, SRW224G4P-K9-EU, SRW224G4P-K9-JP, SRW224G4P-K9-NA and SRW224G4P-K9-UK. The replacement changed standard PoE access to PoE+ while retaining the Fast Ethernet access configuration and Gigabit uplink arrangement. Match the regional ordering variant when identifying an installed predecessor.

How much PoE power does SF300-24PP-K9 provide?

SF300-24PP-K9 provides a shared 180W PoE budget across 24 powered access ports, with a 30W maximum on an individual PoE+ port. The shared budget limits simultaneous endpoint allocation. Size the connected-device load rather than assuming every port can deliver its individual maximum at the same time.

What uplinks does SF300-24PP-K9 include?

SF300-24PP-K9 includes two dedicated Gigabit copper uplinks and two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. A combo uplink uses either its copper connection or its SFP connection, not both simultaneously. These are fixed interfaces rather than an empty network-module bay; select compatible transceivers for the intended fiber connections.

What is the difference between SF300-24PP-K9 and SF300-24MP-K9?

SF300-24PP-K9 has a 180W PoE+ budget, while SF300-24MP-K9 has a 375W PoE+ budget. Both have 24 Fast Ethernet powered access ports. Both models are discontinued. The lower-budget model matches existing lower-load configurations; the higher-budget model addresses a greater aggregate endpoint-power requirement when maintaining legacy installations.

What is the difference between SF300-24PP-K9 and SF300-48PP-K9?

SF300-24PP-K9 has 24 Fast Ethernet powered access ports, while SF300-48PP-K9 has 48. The comparison is chiefly access-port density, and both models are discontinued. The 24-port model matches smaller legacy connection counts; the 48-port model addresses installations needing twice as many access connections in one chassis.

What is the difference between SF300-24PP-K9 and C1300-24P-4G?

SF300-24PP-K9 provides 10/100 Mbps access connections, while C1300-24P-4G provides Gigabit Ethernet access connections. Both configurations have 24 powered access ports. The discontinued SF300 model serves legacy replacement requirements; the current C1300 model is the migration-chain endpoint for buyers moving their endpoint connections to Gigabit speed.
