SF300-48 is a fanless, managed Layer 2+ access switch with 48 10/100 Ethernet ports and four fixed Gigabit uplinks. Two uplinks provide dedicated copper connections; the remaining two provide a choice between copper and SFP fiber connections, with only one medium active per combo port. The Rack-Mount 1U chassis belongs to the Small Business 300 family and provides non-PoE access for separately powered endpoints. The discontinued SF300-48P differs by supplying PoE on its access ports. For an existing Fast Ethernet installation, the Cisco 300 Series configuration separates endpoint connections from the faster uplinks without requiring a removable uplink card.
