SG300-28PP-K9-EU is a managed Layer 2+ Gigabit access switch that powers phones, wireless access points and IP cameras through 24 PoE+ connections. Two additional Gigabit copper ports and two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks provide fixed connections toward the rest of the network; each combo uses one physical medium at a time. The 1U rack-mount chassis belongs to the Cisco 300 Series within the Cisco Small Business line, bringing powered and unpowered Ethernet connections into a single unit. 56 Gbps switching capacity supports wire-speed, nonblocking forwarding, while 41.67 Mpps forwarding performance describes handling of 64-byte packets. 180W of shared PoE power requires endpoint allocations to stay within the aggregate allowance. Static IPv4 routing supports 512 static routes for communication between configured networks; the uplinks do not provide 10G connectivity. SG300-28PP-K9-EU combines 128 MB of DRAM with 16 MB of flash for its switching software and stored images. An 8 Mb packet buffer is dynamically shared across the ports rather than reserved independently for each connection. Management paths include the HTTP/HTTPS browser interface, serial console, CLI over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. LACP supports link aggregation, while STP/RSTP/MSTP provide spanning-tree control. Energy Efficient Ethernet reduces link power during quiet intervals, and automatic shutdown of inactive ports limits unnecessary port power use. These controls operate alongside configurable VLAN segmentation and access control lists.

When replacement phones or wireless access points increase individual power demand, PoE+ supports 30W per powered connection. That per-port ceiling does not guarantee simultaneous maximum draw across the switch. Collect each endpoint's requested allocation and startup requirement, then approve a shared-power worksheet before placing the purchase order.
When an existing subnet plan calls for local inter-VLAN forwarding, the switch supports 128 IP interfaces on physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLAN interfaces or loopbacks. Prepare the interface map and upstream return routes, then specify the required routing configuration and management addressing before the purchase order.
For bench testing or application troubleshooting, port mirroring accepts eight source ports and one destination port in a single session. The capture host and monitored links therefore need a defined capture plan rather than an assumption of independent simultaneous sessions. SG300-28PP-K9-EU provides Gigabit uplinks, not 10G interfaces. Its fixed copper and combo connections cannot operate as 10G links, regardless of the upstream equipment's capabilities.

SG300-28PP-K9-EU identifies a Gigabit Cisco 300 Series managed switch with 28 logical interfaces; PP distinguishes PoE+ and EU identifies the European regional version. SG300-28PP-K9 is the underlying ordering identifier. The hardware provides 24 powered access connections, two additional copper connections, and two shared copper/SFP combo interfaces.
The Cisco 300 Series is managed through its HTTP/HTTPS web interface, a full CLI over the serial console or SSH/Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. These provide browser, terminal and network-management access to configuration and monitoring. Specify the management access method and administrative addressing during staging.
SG300-28PP-K9-EU provides a shared 180W budget across 24 PoE+ ports, with a 30W maximum per powered connection. The per-port maximum does not mean every port can deliver that amount simultaneously. Phones, access points and cameras draw from the same aggregate allowance, so their combined requested allocations must fit the budget.
SG300-28PP-K9-EU has two dedicated copper Gigabit uplinks and two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks, with one side of each combo active at a time. Fiber connectivity uses compatible SFPs such as MGBSX1 for multimode or MGBLX1 for single-mode fiber. The uplink interfaces do not support 10G operation.
SG300-28PP-K9-EU supports static IPv4 routing with 512 static routes and 128 IP interfaces. Routing interfaces can be assigned to physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLANs or loopbacks. This provides local forwarding between configured networks. Plan the destination networks and upstream return routes before enabling inter-VLAN forwarding.
The Cisco 300 Series SG300-28PP uses a 440 mm-wide, 1U chassis with two fans and an internal 100-240V AC power supply. The case measures 44.45 mm high and 257 mm deep, and weighs 3.95 kg. Allow fan ventilation and specify the regional power connection with the order.
SG300-28PP-K9-EU is discontinued: end of sale was August 2, 2018, and Cisco support ended August 31, 2023. The replacement path passed through the discontinued SG350-28P-K9-EU and discontinued CBS350-24P-4G-EU to C1300-24P-4G. Original Cisco service cannot be reinstated by purchasing unused or refurbished hardware.
SG300-28PP-K9-EU replaces SRW2024P-K9-EU, the SG300-28P Gigabit PoE managed switch. The newer identifier brings PoE+ to a 28-interface configuration while retaining a 180W shared endpoint power budget.
