SG300-28 is a fanless, managed Layer 2+ Gigabit switch with 24 regular copper access ports and four fixed Gigabit uplinks: two copper ports plus two shared RJ-45/SFP combo ports. Each combo connection uses either its copper interface or its SFP cage, not both simultaneously. The rack-mount chassis belongs to the Cisco Small Business 300 family and connects computers, printers, servers, and other independently powered endpoints; the switch does not provide PoE. The discontinued SG300-28P adds endpoint power on 24 ports. This 28-port Gigabit managed switch provides configurable traffic segmentation and prioritization rather than unmanaged operation. Its connection layout accommodates copper runs within an office and copper or fiber connections toward the upstream network without requiring a removable uplink card.
