SG250-08HP-K9 is a fanless, Layer 2+ smart switch with eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports and PoE+ output for small-business access networks. Its desktop chassis has no dedicated uplink bank: upstream and endpoint connections share the available copper ports. The Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches family supports office connectivity for phones, wireless access points, and other Ethernet devices that need configurable traffic separation. The discontinued SG250-08-K9-NA is the corresponding non-PoE sibling. Cisco SG250-08HP provides powered endpoint connectivity in a compact enclosure rather than a full-width rack chassis. Fiber uplinks and removable network modules are absent, so upstream connections require copper cabling.

16 Gbps switching capacity supports wire-speed, nonblocking traffic across the copper interfaces. 11.9 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets, distinguishing small-packet handling from aggregate bandwidth. 45W of shared PoE power requires connected devices' combined allocation to remain within that allowance, although an individual powered port supports 30W. Static IPv4 routing provides 32 routes for local subnet communication, while 16 IP interfaces bound the routed interface plan. SG250-08HP-K9 carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for its operating software and configuration. An 8000-entry MAC table supports address learning, and the 12 Mb packet buffer is shared across ports rather than assigned separately to each interface. STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP support loop control and link aggregation. Browser configuration, a scriptable CLI, and SNMP provide management choices; eight hardware queues support traffic prioritization. The switch does not accept power through an Ethernet port.
Specify SG250-08HP-K9 quantities, the regional power adapter, and condition on the PO: new sealed or certified refurbished. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links, clean boot, PoE output under load on every powered port, and rated adapter output; firmware is verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units, up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty ends no later than July 31, 2027. Submit enterprise and volume requirements together; POs are accepted, with Net-30 for government.

When a spare is needed for an existing SG200-08P installation, SLM2008PT-NA identifies the older North American order replaced by the matching regional version of this model. Include the power adapter in the replacement bill of materials, and specify the destination market and supplied adapter before issuing the PO.
When an office installation has no equipment rack, the compact unit supports wall mounting rather than standard rack installation. Gigabit copper connections require Category 5e or better cabling. Include the mounting arrangement in the site bill of materials, and check cable grades and the supplied mounting kit before ordering.
When replacement units must enter an established software baseline, dual firmware images provide separate image storage, and firmware upgrades support HTTP/HTTPS, TFTP, and SCP over SSH. Keep the intended image and configuration package with the staging instructions, and specify the required software baseline before the PO is released.
Fiber or 10G uplink connections
The eight built-in interfaces are copper Gigabit Ethernet ports. No SFP cage, dedicated 10G uplink, or removable uplink card is available for adding the required connection.
Maximum PoE+ power on every port
The 45W aggregate allowance cannot supply eight endpoints at the individual 30W port maximum simultaneously. Endpoint allocations must share the available power rather than assume full per-port output.
Cisco support beyond July 2027
Cisco service ends July 31, 2027. The discontinued CBS250-8PP-D-NA replacement has no current migration product, so this replacement chain does not meet a longer Cisco-support requirement.

SG250-08HP-K9 identifies the 250 Series Gigabit smart switch: 08 denotes eight ports, and HP identifies the 45W PoE+ configuration. K9 remains part of the ordering identifier. SG250-08HP-K9-NA is the North American ordering form; its additional suffix identifies the destination region rather than a different port configuration.
SG250-08HP-K9 supports an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, full or menu-based CLI over SSH or Telnet, SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3, RMON, Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager with an embedded probe, and Active Advisor. Cisco Network Plug and Play with PnP Connect provides an additional provisioning path for staged deployments.
Cisco SG250-08HP provides a shared 45W PoE allowance across eight PoE+ ports, with a maximum of 30W on an individual powered port. Connected devices share the aggregate allowance rather than receiving every port's maximum simultaneously. The endpoint power schedule must account for each device's requested allocation.
SG250-08HP-K9 has no SFP cages or dedicated uplink ports; upstream connections use the same eight copper Gigabit Ethernet ports available for endpoints. No optical transceiver or removable uplink card can be installed. The connection plan must reserve copper ports for upstream links before assigning the remaining ports to devices.
Yes, 250 Series Smart Switches support static IPv4 routing with 32 static routes and 16 IP interfaces for communication between VLANs. Layer 3 interfaces can be assigned to a physical port, LAG, VLAN, or loopback. Route count and routed-interface count are separate limits when reviewing a proposed configuration.
No, SG250-08HP-K9 requires its external AC adapter rather than receiving operating power through a PoE input port. The adapter accepts 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz. PoE+ on this model supplies connected endpoints; it does not remove the requirement for an adapter and an available AC outlet.
No, Cisco SG250-08HP supports desktop placement and wall mounting, not standard rack mounting. The enclosure measures 160 mm wide, 30 mm high, and 128 mm deep. A mounting kit accompanies the original package, so the mounting arrangement and included hardware belong in the order confirmation.
SG250-08HP-K9 is discontinued: end of sale was July 30, 2022, and Cisco support ends July 31, 2027. Its replacement, CBS250-8PP-D-NA, is also discontinued and has no current migration product. SG250-08HP-K9EU-RF denotes Cisco remanufacture, which is separate from ORM's certified refurbishment process.
SG250-08HP-K9 replaces SG200-08P orders identified by SLM2008PT-AU, SLM2008PT-EU, SLM2008PT-NA, and SLM2008PT-UK through matching regional versions. These older identifiers help establish the replacement relationship, but they do not extend the newer model's support period. Regional power arrangements and endpoint allocations remain part of a legacy replacement purchase.
ORM Systems supplies SG250-08HP-K9 new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year; both have 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty includes 1-year power-supply coverage and remains subject to entitlement; Cisco service ends July 31, 2027.
SG250-08HP-K9 supplies PoE+ output, whereas SG250-08-K9-NA does not provide endpoint power. Both are discontinued models in the 250 Series. The powered model suits legacy installations feeding compatible phones or access points; the non-PoE model suits legacy connections where endpoints receive power independently of the Ethernet switch.
SG250-10P-K9 can receive operating power through its uplink ports, whereas SG250-08HP-K9 requires its external AC adapter. Both models are discontinued. The former suits legacy installations with a compatible upstream PoE source; the latter suits installations where a local AC outlet and external adapter supply the switch.
SG250-18-K9-NA provides 16 dedicated copper Gigabit access ports, compared with eight on SG250-08HP-K9. Both models are discontinued, so the comparison concerns legacy installation requirements. The higher-density model suits larger connection counts, while the eight-port model suits a smaller endpoint group whose connection count stays within its available ports.
