SG250-18-K9-EU is a fanless, smart-managed Gigabit access switch with 16 dedicated copper access ports and two fixed Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. Each combo connection uses either its copper connector or its SFP slot, not both simultaneously. The non-PoE hardware connects independently powered endpoints rather than supplying power to phones, cameras or access points. Its full-width 1U chassis belongs to the Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches family, positioned for small-business networks requiring configurable switching and static routing. The discontinued SG250-26HP-K9-EU differs by providing 24 PoE+ access ports with a shared power budget. For an existing SG250-18 installation, the distinction between dedicated access connections and shared uplink connectors determines which cables and optics belong on the order.

36 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking forwarding across the available connections. 26.78 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets, separating packet-processing capability from aggregate bandwidth. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces; this is not a dynamic-routing access switch. SG250-18-K9-EU carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for its operating software and configuration storage. An 8000-entry MAC address table supports endpoint learning, while a dynamically shared 12 Mb packet buffer accommodates traffic across the ports. STP/RSTP/MSTP and LACP provide loop-control and link-aggregation functions. Eight hardware queues support traffic prioritization, and port security can restrict learned endpoint addresses. Browser management and scriptable CLI access provide different administration paths. 13.1W worst-case consumption establishes the published maximum for power planning, while the operating range extends from 0°C to 50°C.
SG250-18-K9-EU is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the required condition, quantity, regional power cord and any transceivers on the purchase order. ORM warranty is up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns in every condition; terms apply. For enterprise and volume orders, PO accepted, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement are available, with regional stock/RMA coverage across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

A staging bench that needs packet capture can mirror traffic from four source ports to one destination port. The capture destination must be reserved rather than counted as an endpoint connection. Before the PO, specify the analyzer connection and identify which test links must be observed together.
A rollout that reuses an approved configuration can use text-editable configuration files and protected SCP downloads instead of entering every setting individually. The switch also supports dual software images for upgrades. Before ordering multiple units, specify the approved image, configuration file and credentials required for staging.
A small-business network adding multicast receivers can use IGMP snooping to restrict delivery to interested endpoints, with support for 255 multicast groups. An IGMP querier is available when the switching domain lacks a multicast router. Before the PO, check group requirements and specify which device will perform the querier role.
10G connections to distribution
SG250-18-K9-EU has Gigabit combo uplinks, not 10G uplinks. Installing a faster transceiver cannot convert these connections to 10G; specify different hardware when that speed is required.
Switch-powered phones or access points
SG250-18-K9-EU does not supply PoE to endpoints. Phones, cameras and access points requiring Ethernet-delivered power need separate power equipment or a different switch.
Cisco support beyond October 2026
Cisco support for SG250-18-K9-EU ends October 31, 2026. C1200-16T-2G is the current successor through the discontinued CBS250-16T-2G-EU, retaining 16 Gigabit access ports with dedicated SFP uplinks.

SG250-18-K9-EU identifies a Cisco 250 Series Gigabit Smart Switch with 18 usable network connections: 16 dedicated copper ports and two copper/SFP combo ports. The EU ending identifies the regional ordering version, which covers the European Union and additional designated markets. Each combo pair provides one active connection.
SG250-18-K9-EU supports an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, scriptable and menu-based CLI over SSH/Telnet, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager with embedded Probe, FindIT Network Discovery Utility, and Cisco Active Advisor provide additional management or discovery options. Cisco Network Plug and Play supports provisioning.
SG250-18-K9-EU is discontinued, with end of sale on October 30, 2021, and last support on October 31, 2026. Software maintenance ended October 30, 2022. Remaining reseller inventory does not restart these milestones, and purchasing a sealed unit does not extend Cisco's published support period.
ORM offers SG250-18-K9-EU new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are available for 30 days in every condition; terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime warranty is bounded by its October 31, 2026 support end date.
SG250-18-K9-EU replaces SLM2016T-EU, the discontinued SG200-18 Gigabit Smart Switch. That replacement relationship identifies the regional migration option rather than guaranteeing that an existing configuration transfers unchanged. A replacement purchase should include a review of the saved configuration, active connections and required management settings.
SG250-18-K9-EU does not provide PoE on its access ports or combo connections. Connected phones, wireless access points and cameras must have their own power source or separate power equipment. This distinction concerns endpoint power delivery; ordinary Gigabit data connectivity remains available for independently powered devices.
The SG250-18 Gigabit Smart Switch supports Gigabit transceivers including MGBSX1 for multimode fiber and MGBLX1 for single-mode fiber. MGBSX1 reaches 500 m and MGBLX1 reaches 10 km. Select the transceiver against the installed fiber and remote endpoint; using an SFP connection occupies its shared copper/SFP combo connection.
SG250-18-K9-EU supports static IPv4 routing with 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces, including VLAN interfaces. Routing therefore requires an explicitly planned interface and route configuration rather than dynamic route exchange. Check the required connected networks and static destinations against those limits before assigning the switch a routing role.
The SG250-18 Gigabit Smart Switch fits a standard rack as a full-width 1U device and includes a mounting kit in its original package. The chassis measures 440 mm wide, 44 mm high and 202 mm deep. Its fanless construction does not remove the need to maintain suitable ventilation.
SG250-26HP-K9-EU provides 24 PoE+ access ports with a shared 100W budget, whereas SG250-18-K9-EU provides 16 non-PoE access ports. Both models are discontinued. The former addresses powered-endpoint requirements within its aggregate budget; the latter addresses connections where endpoint power is supplied separately and fewer dedicated access ports are required.
SG250-10P-K9-EU uses an external power adapter and can also receive power through its combo uplinks, whereas SG250-18-K9-EU uses AC power without that uplink-powered option. Both models are discontinued. The smaller model addresses installations requiring alternative power input; the 18-connection model addresses a larger set of independently powered endpoints.
C1200-16T-2G has two dedicated Gigabit SFP uplinks, whereas SG250-18-K9-EU has two shared copper/SFP combo connections; both have 16 dedicated Gigabit copper access ports. C1200-16T-2G is the current successor through the discontinued CBS250-16T-2G-EU. Choose the older model for an established spare requirement and the successor for a current-generation purchase.
