SG250-50-K9-EU is a Layer 2+ smart managed switch with 48 Gigabit copper access ports and two fixed Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks in a 1U rack-mount chassis. The Cisco 250 Series serves small-business access networks connecting workstations, printers, servers, and separately powered phones or wireless access points. Each combo uplink uses either its copper socket or its SFP cage, giving the chassis 50 active network connections rather than independent copper and fiber connections on every uplink. This model supplies no PoE output. The discontinued SG250-50HP-K9-EU adds PoE+ with a shared 192W budget, separating endpoint-power requirements from the data-only configuration here. For an existing SG250-50 installation, the regional ordering form also matters when specifying replacement hardware and the accompanying power cord.

100 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking forwarding across the installed interfaces. 74.41 Mpps forwarding handles minimum-size 64-byte packets at the rated aggregate throughput. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces for subnet-to-subnet traffic without dynamic route exchange. SG250-50-K9-EU combines 512 MB memory with 256 MB flash, while a 24 Mb packet buffer is dynamically shared across all ports. The address table holds 8000 MAC entries for attached devices and learned neighbors. STP/RSTP/MSTP control bridging loops, and LACP supports link aggregation. Management includes an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, a scriptable CLI over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3. RADIUS authenticates management access, while port security restricts learned source addresses. 35.4W maximum consumption at 220V AC establishes the switch-only power allowance. The internal AC supply has no redundant PSU option. One fan provides active cooling, and the 0°C to 50°C operating range bounds ambient-temperature planning.
Specify SG250-50-K9-EU condition and quantity on the PO: new sealed or certified refurbished. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for every port linking at rated speed and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's separate hardware coverage ends October 31, 2026. Enterprise and volume purchasing supports PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When an office consolidates separately configured user, printer, and server segments, 255 simultaneously active VLANs provide the segmentation ceiling. Eight hardware queues distinguish traffic priorities without creating additional physical connections. Define the active VLAN inventory and queue policy before specifying the switch configuration on the purchase order.
When several branches need the same initial configuration, the embedded Cisco Network Plug and Play agent supports provisioning through Cisco PnP Connect. The embedded FindIT Network Probe removes the need for a separate local probe appliance. Identify the provisioning workflow and management responsibility before ordering the branch allocation.
When replacement units need preparation before an installation window, dual software images support firmware staging with an alternate image retained on the switch. A front-panel USB Type-A port supports local file and image management. Specify the intended firmware, configuration backup, and image-selection checks in the staging requirements before releasing the purchase order.
PoE power for connected endpoints
SG250-50-K9-EU does not supply PoE to phones, cameras, or access points. C1200-48P-4G provides 48 Gigabit PoE access ports with four 1G SFP uplinks.
10G uplinks to distribution
SG250-50-K9-EU uplinks operate at Gigabit speed and cannot provide 10G connectivity. C1200-48T-4X retains 48 Gigabit copper access ports and supplies four 10G SFP+ uplinks.

SG250-50-K9-EU identifies a Cisco 250 Series Gigabit Smart Switch in the EU regional ordering form. SG250 denotes the Gigabit family, while 50 covers 48 dedicated copper ports plus two copper/SFP combo ports. EU is the country/region suffix; each combo port activates only one medium at a time.
Cisco 250 Series switches support HTTP/HTTPS web management, full or menu-based CLI over SSH or Telnet, SNMP, Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager, FindIT Network Discovery Utility, an embedded FindIT Network Probe, and Cisco Active Advisor. Cisco Network Plug and Play with Cisco PnP Connect supports provisioning; the web interface includes a system dashboard.
SG250-50-K9-EU is discontinued: sales ended October 30, 2021, and Cisco support ends October 31, 2026. Phone support and software maintenance releases ended October 30, 2022. The replacement chain passes through discontinued CBS250-48T-4G-EU and now ends at C1200-48T-4G, rather than at the intermediate replacement.
SG250-50-K9-EU replaces the discontinued SLM2048T-EU, sold as the SG200-50 Gigabit Smart Switch. The regional part-number match matters for an installed-base purchase. SG250-50-K9-EU is itself discontinued, so its replacement chain now leads to C1200-48T-4G rather than returning to the older SG200 family.
SG250-50-K9-EU accepts 1G SFP transceivers in its two fixed combo uplinks, including MGBSX1 for multimode fiber to 500 m and MGBLX1 for single-mode fiber to 10 km. Each cage shares its associated copper port, so only one medium per combo connection can operate at a time.
SG250-50-K9-EU supports static IPv4 routing with 32 static routes and 16 IP interfaces. Routing interfaces can use physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLAN interfaces, or loopback interfaces. DHCP relay and UDP relay support traffic across IP domains. The 32-route limit applies to the switch, not separately to each interface.
SG250-50-K9-EU uses an internal universal AC power supply accepting 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz, without redundant internal PSU support. Maximum consumption is 35.4W at 220V AC or 35.2W at 110V AC. The original new package includes a power cord and mounting kit, rather than an external power adapter.
SG250-50-K9-EU switches do not form a hardware stack. Smart Network Application can monitor and configure multiple switches, but each unit remains independent rather than becoming a member of one stacked forwarding system. Single-IP management does not add dedicated stacking ports or create a shared switching fabric.
SG250-50HP-K9-EU supplies PoE+ from a shared 192W budget, while SG250-50-K9-EU supplies no endpoint power. Both models are discontinued. The non-PoE model serves separately powered equipment; the HP version supports powered endpoints whose combined allocation fits the shared budget, rather than maximum power on every port simultaneously.
SG250-50-K9-EU has 48 dedicated Gigabit copper access ports, whereas SG250-26-K9-EU has 24. Both models are discontinued. The larger model accommodates a denser copper access requirement; the smaller model suits an existing installation requiring fewer access connections without moving to the larger port-count configuration.
C1200-48T-4G has four 1G SFP uplinks, while SG250-50-K9-EU has two shared copper/SFP combo uplinks. The migration chain passes through discontinued CBS250-48T-4G-EU. SG250-50-K9-EU serves legacy hardware matching; C1200-48T-4G is the current successor for buyers requiring independent fiber uplinks rather than shared-media connections.
New sealed SG250-50-K9-EU units carry ORM's up to 3-year extended warranty; certified refurbished units carry up to 1 year. Both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty has 1-year fan and power-supply coverage, subject to eligibility, and all Cisco service ends October 31, 2026.
