WS-C3750-24FS-S is a 24-port 100BASE-FX fiber access switch with 100 Mbps downlinks and two fixed 1G SFP uplinks for distribution connections. The managed Layer 3 hardware ships with IP Base in a rack-mount 1U chassis and supplies no PoE to attached equipment. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series serves enterprise access networks and branch offices; this configuration maintains fiber endpoint connections rather than copper Ethernet outlets. The discontinued WS-C3750-24PS-S provides copper PoE access instead, so an equal port count does not make the two interchangeable. Match the access media and supplied software image to the existing network when selecting replacement hardware.

32 Gbps switching capacity provides the fabric bandwidth reference for this configuration, while 6.5 Mpps forwarding describes its packet-processing capacity. Static routing, RIPv1, RIPv2 and EIGRP Stub support routed access under the supplied image; OSPF and BGPv4 require IP Services instead. WS-C3750-24FS-S has 128 MB DRAM and 32 MB flash for operation and software storage. Configurable scale reaches 12000 MAC addresses and 11000 unicast routes, with Switching Database Manager templates allocating resources to access, routing or VLAN requirements. LACP supports link aggregation, while RSTP and per-VLAN rapid spanning tree handle loop prevention. ACLs and rate limiting provide traffic-policy controls at the network edge. SSH management requires a cryptographic software image, and SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 support monitoring integration. Fan cooling requires unrestricted airflow around the chassis; power redundancy uses an external system rather than a second internal PSU bay.
WS-C3750-24FS-S is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, including rated-speed port links and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition, quantity and accessory PIDs before submitting the PO. ORM warranties are up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; 30-day returns apply to every condition, terms apply, and Cisco's original limited lifetime warranty ended September 30, 2017. Volume POs are accepted, with Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and stock/RMA coverage in the UK, EU, US and MEA.

When a branch rollout reuses existing multimode fiber, endpoint duplex settings must be settled before procurement. The access interfaces do not autonegotiate and default to half duplex; full-duplex fiber links can reach 2 km. Specify peer settings, fiber compatibility and link lengths before releasing the purchase order.
When expanding an existing access stack, rear cable routing can change the accessory order even when the switch model stays the same. CAB-STACK-1M= and CAB-STACK-3M= provide longer StackWise connections than CAB-STACK-50CM=. Check rear access, ring cabling and member software compatibility before releasing the PO.
For a lab reproducing an older fiber network, large-frame tests must distinguish uplink traffic from access traffic. Fast Ethernet interfaces support frames of 1546 bytes for bridging and routing, while Gigabit Ethernet bridging supports 9018-byte frames. Specify test packet sizes and the ports under test before ordering staging equipment.
Gigabit fiber access connections
WS-C3750-24FS-S access links are limited to 100 Mbps. C9300-24S-E provides 24 1G SFP access ports with modular uplinks, changing both the access optics and uplink ordering requirements.
PoE-powered copper endpoints
WS-C3750-24FS-S delivers no PoE. Its fixed fiber downlinks cannot provide copper powered-device connections or supply operating power to attached phones and wireless access points.
OSPF or BGP routing
WS-C3750-24FS-S ships with IP Base, which excludes OSPF and BGPv4. Those routing protocols require IP Services rather than the supplied software image.

WS-C3750-24FS-S identifies a Catalyst 3750 fiber access switch: WS-C3750 identifies the series, 24 identifies the access-port count, FS identifies the 100BASE-FX configuration with two Gigabit SFP uplinks, and the final S selects IP Base. The access interfaces are fixed fiber ports rather than copper Ethernet ports.
WS-C3750-24FS-S supports browser-based device manager, Cisco Network Assistant, Cisco IOS CLI through console or Telnet, SNMP, CiscoView and CiscoWorks management. SSH requires a cryptographic software image. Configure management addressing and authentication before remote access, and verify the installed image when secure CLI access is required.
WS-C3750-24FS-S is discontinued: end of sale was September 18, 2012, and Cisco support ended September 30, 2017. Its direct replacement, WS-C3750V2-24FS-S, is also discontinued. The migration chain then passed through discontinued WS-C3750X-24S-S and WS-C3850-24S-S models to C9300-24S-E.
ORM Systems offers WS-C3750-24FS-S new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year warranty. Returns are available for 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended September 30, 2017, and is separate from ORM's coverage.
No, WS-C3750-24FS-S supplies no PoE because its access interfaces are fixed 100BASE-FX fiber ports. Attached equipment requires its own power source. Select this model for existing fiber-connected devices, not as a powered copper access switch for phones or wireless access points.
GLC-SX-MM= and GLC-LH-SM= are Gigabit fiber transceiver options for the two SFP uplinks on WS-C3750-24FS-S. GLC-SX-MM= serves short-wavelength links; GLC-LH-SM= serves long-wavelength links. Match fiber media and the peer interface, and specify the selected transceiver PIDs as part of the accessory order.
Nine members form a StackWise stack with WS-C3750-24FS-S, using a 32 Gbps stacking bus. Approved cables are CAB-STACK-50CM=, CAB-STACK-1M= and CAB-STACK-3M=. Select cable lengths for the ring layout and provide rear access; member software must be compatible before the stack is assembled.
Static routing, RIPv1, RIPv2 and EIGRP Stub are included with IP Base on WS-C3750-24FS-S. HSRP supports redundant routed links. OSPF, BGPv4 and PIM-SM require IP Services and are excluded from the supplied image, so routing requirements must be matched to the installed software tier.
No, the Catalyst 3750 fiber access switch uses one internal AC supply rather than two internal PSU modules. External redundancy is available through PWR-RPS2300 or PWR675-AC-RPS-N1=. Include the compatible external power system and connection requirements in the order when redundant power is required.
The 24-port 100BASE-FX fiber access switch requires MT-RJ connections using 50/125- or 62.5/125-micron multimode fiber. CAB-MTRJ-SC-MM-1M connects to SC equipment, while CAB-MTRJ-ST-MM-1M connects to ST equipment. Check the peer connector and patch length before specifying either cable; these access connections are not ordinary RJ-45 Ethernet outlets.
IP Base is the included software tier for WS-C3750-24FS-S. The Catalyst 3750 Series also has IP Services configurations for advanced unicast, IPv6 and multicast routing. Specify the required image on the purchase order, and do not treat higher-tier routing features as included with this part number.
WS-C3750-24PS-S has 24 copper 10/100 PoE access ports, whereas WS-C3750-24FS-S has 24 fixed 100BASE-FX ports without PoE. Both models are discontinued. The former fits maintenance of powered copper endpoints; the latter fits maintenance of existing fiber access connections rather than a copper replacement.
WS-C3750-24TS-E includes IP Services, whereas WS-C3750-24FS-S includes IP Base. The former also uses copper 10/100 access ports rather than fixed 100BASE-FX connections; both are discontinued. WS-C3750-24TS-E suits legacy copper networks requiring the higher software tier, while WS-C3750-24FS-S matches fiber networks retaining IP Base.
C9300-24S-E offers 24 1G SFP access ports, whereas WS-C3750-24FS-S has 24 fixed 100BASE-FX access ports. C9300-24S-E is the current migration endpoint for this discontinued switch line. Choose the newer model for Gigabit fiber access; retain the original model only for like-for-like legacy replacement requirements.
