C9300-24U-E identifies a Catalyst 9300 switch: C9300 is the series, 24 is the copper access-port count, U denotes UPOE, and E denotes Network Essentials. The ports operate at 1G with modular uplinks; this PID contains no separate fixed-uplink count or speed code.
C9300-24U-E supports console and SSH CLI, WebUI, SNMP, Cisco Catalyst Center and Meraki dashboard management, with centralized options depending on licensing and configuration. Specify the intended management mode on the order so the software entitlement and commissioning plan match the existing network.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 9300. Software and accessory retirements within the series do not discontinue this chassis. C9300-24U-E procurement therefore requires separate consideration of the selected software release, hardware service coverage and the lifecycle of any existing equipment being replaced.

C9300-24U-E carries perpetual Network Essentials. New hardware requires same-tier Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst Essentials, minimum three years; each family also offers Advantage after a network-license upgrade. Meraki Enterprise or Advanced requires migration or -M ordering, minimum one year. Subscription expiry leaves the perpetual tier active. Confirm refurbished software entitlements separately.
C9300-24U-E replaces discontinued WS-C3850-24U-L, WS-C3850-24XU-L, WS-C3850-24XU-LJ and CDB-3850-24U-L. Those predecessors stopped selling on October 30, 2020, and Cisco support ended October 31, 2025. Replacement selection still requires checking endpoint speed, powered-device requirements and the existing uplink arrangement rather than assuming every previous feature carries across unchanged.
C9300-24U-E accepts C9300-NM-4G, C9300-NM-4M, C9300-NM-8X, C9300-NM-2Y and C9300-NM-2Q for modular uplinks. Select the required port count and uplink speed before ordering, then specify matching connectivity. C9300X network modules are not compatible with this chassis, and the base switch contains no installed uplink module.
C9300-24U-E supplies UPOE, whereas C9300-24P-E supplies PoE+. Select between these power classes against the actual powered-device requirements rather than assuming the similar part numbers are interchangeable. C9300-24U-E suits endpoints requiring UPOE; C9300-24P-E suits installations whose endpoint power requirements remain within PoE+.
C9300-24U-E includes Network Essentials, while C9300-24U-A includes Network Advantage. The difference is the perpetual network feature tier, which should match the required routing and segmentation functions before ordering. Specify C9300-24U-E for Network Essentials requirements; specify C9300-24U-A when the network design requires Network Advantage features.
C9300-24U-E has 24 copper access ports; C9300-48U-E has 48. Compare occupied and planned endpoint connections before selecting the order quantity, particularly when consolidating existing switches. The 24-port model fits smaller endpoint schedules, while C9300-48U-E serves buyers needing the greater copper access-port density.
