C9300X-12Y-A is a stackable Layer 3 enterprise access switch with 12 fixed SFP28 fiber downlinks operating at 25G, 10G or 1G. Its modular uplink architecture leaves the expansion bay empty in the base configuration, so additional uplink connections depend on the module ordered. The data-only chassis supplies no PoE and occupies one rack unit. Within the Cisco Catalyst 9300X Series, this configuration combines high-speed fiber access with Network Advantage rather than copper endpoint power. C9300X-12Y-E provides the corresponding Network Essentials option. The Catalyst 9000 family supports campus access deployments where fiber-connected equipment requires routed connectivity rather than powered copper connections.
C9300X-12Y-A price for new stock is $8,182.65, a 61% saving from the Cisco list price of $20,960.00. C9300X-12Y-A refurb price is $8,593.19. C9300X-12Y-A is in stock and available for free next-day delivery. (terms applied)

1000 Gbps switching capacity establishes the standalone bandwidth envelope, while 744.04 Mpps forwarding addresses packet-processing demand. OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4 and IS-ISv4 support dynamic routed connectivity; OSPFv3 and BGPv6 extend routing to IPv6. The forwarding hardware accommodates 39000 total IPv4 entries, including direct and indirect routes. C9300X-12Y-A uses UADP 2.0sec silicon with 16 GB DRAM and 16 GB flash for software execution and image storage. A 16 MB packet buffer accommodates queued traffic, and 32000 MAC entries support Layer 2 address learning. The embedded Cisco IOS XE environment supports NETCONF, RESTCONF, YANG and streaming telemetry for programmable administration. Local management uses console access, SSH CLI and WebUI; Cisco Catalyst Center and Meraki dashboard provide centralized options subject to the selected operating mode and entitlements. MACsec supports encrypted Ethernet links, while PIM-SM and SSM provide multicast routing capabilities.
ORM Systems offers C9300X-12Y-A new sealed and certified refurbished, with ORM warranty coverage up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units; 30-day returns apply to every condition, with terms applying. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, every port linking at rated speed and optics bay recognition; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify condition, required accessories and quantities on the purchase order. PO acceptance, government Net-30, RMA with advance replacement and regional stock/RMA coverage in the UK, EU, US and MEA support enterprise and volume orders.

C9300X-12Y-A operates at the high-speed fiber access layer where 12 fixed SFP28 ports terminate 25G, 10G, or 1G optical links from downstream devices or local aggregation points. Engineers select the C9300X network module that matches upstream capacity, then stage VLANs, routed interfaces, and monitoring through IOS XE. Network Advantage aligns the switch with advanced Catalyst deployments and Cisco subscription planning. StackWise-1T groups compatible Catalyst 9300X members under one management plane as the access block expands. The deployment consolidates high-speed fiber links into a managed Catalyst stack.
C9300X-12Y-A sits between high-speed fiber access areas and the distribution layer when a site needs SFP28 density with modular uplink selection. The 12 SFP28 ports handle 25G, 10G, or 1G optical circuits, while the chosen uplink module defines the upstream handoff, including 25G, 40G, or 100G options. Network teams validate optics, VLAN trunks, routing adjacencies, and StackWise membership before production use. The topology gains a clear optical handoff point with predictable port roles and Catalyst operational controls for daily operations.
C9300X-12Y-A supports stacked fiber aggregation where multiple Catalyst 9300X members operate with StackWise-1T and the same license level. Engineers combine SFP28 access links across stack members, reserve modular uplinks for distribution or core connections, and apply shared management through the stack control plane. The non-PoE fiber design keeps endpoint power planning separate from switching capacity and optic selection. Certified refurbished units receive SFP28, uplink-module, fan, power, and boot validation before dispatch. The result is a scalable fiber aggregation block for enterprise refresh cycles.
When an access-edge purchase must support separate routing domains, Network Advantage provides VRF and VXLAN capabilities rather than basic switching alone. The chassis supports 1000 switched virtual interfaces. Identify the required segmentation features, management mode and interface count before specifying the software entitlements on the purchase order.
When one purchasing batch serves North American and European sites, the regional power cord must match the destination. CAB-TA-NA serves North America, while CAB-TA-EU serves continental Europe; both are 2.5 m long. Separate the destination quantities and specify the appropriate cord PID for each shipment before issuing the purchase order.
When equipment moves from cold storage into deployment staging, the minimum ambient temperature for starting the switch is 0°C, even though operation can continue below freezing. Allow the chassis to reach the cold-start threshold before energizing it, and include that temperature check in the receiving and staging procedure.
Switch-powered copper endpoint connections
C9300X-12Y-A has no PoE output and its fixed downlinks are fiber. C9300X-24HX-A supplies UPOE+ through 24 Multigigabit copper ports, changing both connection type and port count.
Four modular 100G uplink ports
C9300X-NM-4C is not supported on C9300X-12Y-A. C9300X-24Y-A supports C9300X-NM-4C and increases the fixed SFP28 downlink count to 24; order C9300X-NM-4C separately.
Fanless operation with passive cooling
C9300X-12Y-A uses three FAN-T2= fan modules and is not fanless. Active cooling remains part of the chassis configuration even when the uplink expansion bay is empty.

C9300X-12Y-A identifies a Catalyst 9300X configuration with 12 fiber downlinks and Network Advantage. C9300X denotes the family, 12 denotes the downlink count, Y identifies the 25G/10G/1G SFP28 configuration, and A identifies Network Advantage. Uplinks are modular rather than represented by a fixed-uplink code in this part number.
C9300X-12Y-A supports local console access, CLI over SSH and WebUI, plus Cisco Catalyst Center and eligible Meraki dashboard monitoring or management. Cisco IOS XE also exposes NETCONF, RESTCONF, YANG and streaming telemetry. Dashboard configuration can remain device-based or become cloud-based, depending on the selected operating mode and licensing.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 9300X. C9300X-12Y-A therefore has no announced hardware replacement milestone. Software-release and accessory retirement dates are separate from the chassis lifecycle and do not establish an end-of-sale date for this model or its supplied Network Advantage hardware configuration.
ORM Systems supplies C9300X-12Y-A new sealed or certified refurbished. ORM coverage is up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units; returns are 30 days for every condition, terms apply. Cisco's separate Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty covers original-customer ownership, limited to five years after discontinuance announcement.
C9300X-12Y-A includes perpetual Network Advantage; traditional new orders require Cisco DNA Advantage or Catalyst Advantage with a three-year minimum. Cisco Networking Subscription offers Cisco Switching Essentials and Cisco Switching Advantage with a 36-month minimum. Smart Accounts are required. Traditional subscription expiry removes add-on entitlements, while the perpetual network license continues.
C9300X-12Y-A accepts C9300X-NM-8M for eight 10G/1G Multigigabit ports, C9300X-NM-8Y for eight 25G/10G/1G ports, or C9300X-NM-2C for two 100G/40G ports. No uplink module ships in the base configuration. Select the module and compatible transceivers separately; C9300X-NM-4C is not supported on this chassis.
StackWise-1T connects eight Catalyst 9300X members at 1 Tbps, including C9300X-12Y-A, with matching license levels. STACK-T1-50CM, STACK-T1-1M and STACK-T1-3M provide supported cable lengths. Mixed Catalyst 9300 stacks operate at 480 Gbps. Catalyst 9300L and higher-scale Catalyst 9300 models cannot participate in that mixed stack.
Network Advantage enables full OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4 and IS-ISv4 routing on C9300X-12Y-A, with OSPFv3 and BGPv6 for IPv6. The hardware supports 39000 total IPv4 entries: 24000 direct routes and 15000 indirect routes. The 1000-route OSPF restriction belongs to Network Essentials, not this supplied tier.
C9300X-12Y-A ships with one PWR-C1-715WAC-P power supply and has a second internal bay for optional redundancy. The supplied PWR-C1-715WAC-P accepts 100-240V AC. A second PWR-C1-715WAC-P must be added separately when redundant internal power is required; the standard order does not include a populated second bay.
C9300X-12Y-A is a 1U rack-mount switch measuring 44 mm high, 445 mm wide and 447 mm deep with its default PWR-C1-715WAC-P installed. Weight is 6.8 kg. Operating temperature is -5°C to 45°C, with a 0°C minimum ambient temperature for cold start. Allow space for rear connections.
C9300X-12Y-A includes Network Advantage, while C9300X-12Y-E includes Network Essentials on the same 12-port fiber configuration. Advantage provides advanced routing features such as BGP and full EIGRP. The A model suits buyers requiring those capabilities; the E model suits routed-access requirements within the Essentials feature limits.
C9300X-12Y-A provides unpowered fiber downlinks, while C9300X-24HX-A supplies UPOE+ through 24 Multigigabit copper downlinks. These models serve different endpoint connection and power requirements, not just different budgets. Choose the fiber model for optical access connections and the copper model for endpoints requiring switch-delivered power.
C9300X-24Y-A has 24 fixed 25G/10G/1G SFP28 downlinks, compared with 12 on C9300X-12Y-A. Both configurations include Network Advantage and modular uplinks. The 12-port model suits orders sized for fewer fiber connections; the 24-port model suits a larger fiber endpoint count in the same rack-unit class.
C9300X-12Y-A draws 137.6W at 115V AC under full-port traffic with no uplink module installed. That figure describes the base configuration, not the 715W output rating of PWR-C1-715WAC-P. Adding C9300X-NM-8M changes the comparable draw to 160.6W, so electrical sizing must match the ordered configuration.
