IE-3300-8U2X-E is a fanless industrial DIN rail switch with eight Gigabit Ethernet copper access ports supporting 4PPoE Type 3 and two fixed 10G SFP+ uplinks. Its Network Essentials configuration provides Layer 2+ operation for industrial Ethernet networks. Within the Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series, this model combines powered endpoint connections with fiber uplinks without requiring a removable uplink card. IE-3300-8T2X-E retains the same access-port count and uplink speeds but does not supply PoE. Port expansion is separate from the uplink architecture: IEM-3300-8T= adds eight unpowered Gigabit copper connections. Cameras, wireless access points, phones and sensors can connect to the base switch, subject to their power demands and Ethernet interface requirements.
IE-3300-8U2X-E price for new stock is $7,520.10, a 27.3% saving from the Cisco list price of $10,343.00. IE-3300-8U2X-E refurb price is $6,718.95. IE-3300-8U2X-E is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

480W of PoE capacity sets the shared allocation for powered devices across the base and any attached expansion. Line-rate forwarding covers all ports and packet sizes. Static routing and inter-VLAN routing are included; OSPF and BGP require Network Advantage rather than the supplied Network Essentials tier. IE-3300-8U2X-E carries 4 GB DRAM and 1.5 GB user-accessible flash for runtime operation and stored software or configurations. The 16000-entry MAC table bounds learned unicast addresses, while 256 VLANs set the segmentation ceiling. Management combines WebUI, CLI access, SNMP and NETCONF/RESTCONF for interactive or automated configuration. Catalyst IE3300 supports industrial integration through CIP and PROFINET, allowing management through compatible automation tools. Dual DC inputs accept independent external sources, with the higher-voltage feed supplying operation when both are energized; the second feed takes over if the active source fails.
IE-3300-8U2X-E is available new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, clean boot, optics bay recognition and PoE output under load on every powered port, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, plus 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's separate hardware warranty is five years limited. Specify condition, quantity and accessories on the PO. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA in the UK, EU, US and MEA.

An enclosure refresh that consolidates additional powered Ethernet connections can pair the base with IEM-3300-16P=, adding 16 Gigabit PoE+ ports for a 26-port system. The expansion must be attached before power is applied, not while energized. Specify the module and its additional operating load on the same PO.
Standardizing cabinets across sites requires clearances in the mechanical layout, not just space for the chassis. Vertical installation requires 50.8 mm clearance above, below, at each side and in front. Open-type equipment needs a suitable protective enclosure with tool-only interior access; verify cabinet layout and enclosure construction before issuing the PO.
A staging bench using both console connectors must account for USB-mini console priority over the RJ-45 console. The active console indication changes when the USB connection takes control. Specify the bench connection method and verify the intended console handoff before ordering staging or replacement quantities.
OSPF or BGP included at purchase
Network Essentials includes static routing, not OSPF or BGP. IE-3300-8U2X-A supplies Network Advantage for buyers requiring those dynamic-routing protocols with the original hardware order.
PTP Power Profile timing support
10G-uplink IE3300 models support PTPv2 Default Profile only. IE-3300-8P2S-E supports Power Profile, but changes the uplinks to 1G and endpoint power to PoE+.
Native 2.5G copper access ports
Built-in copper access ports stop at 1G. IEM-3300-4MU= adds four 2.5G copper ports as an optional expansion; higher-speed copper connections are not included in the base configuration.

IE-3300-8U2X-E identifies Catalyst IE3300 hardware: IE-3300 names the family, 8 denotes eight Gigabit copper ports, U denotes 4PPoE Type 3, 2X denotes two 10G fiber uplinks, and E denotes Network Essentials. The complete part number selects the powered, 10G-uplink configuration with the perpetual Essentials network license.
Catalyst IE3300 Rugged supports WebUI, CLI through SSH, Telnet or the RJ-45 and USB-mini console interfaces, SNMP, NETCONF/RESTCONF, Cisco Catalyst Center, CIP tools, and Siemens STEP 7 or TIA Portal through PROFINET. Local configuration and centralized or industrial automation management are separate available access paths.
IE-3300-8U2X-E supports a 480W shared PoE budget and 4PPoE Type 3 power up to 60W on each base copper port. The external source must also power the switch itself and any expansion. The PoE ceiling is not a guarantee that a 480W external supply can deliver 480W exclusively to endpoints.
IE-3300-8U2X-E has two fixed SFP+ uplinks supporting 1G or 10G operation. SFP-10G-LR-X supports 10G single-mode fiber links to 10 km. Extended-temperature optics require switch temperature derating, so confirm cabinet conditions and fiber type alongside uplink speed before placing the optics order.
IE-3300-8U2X-E accepts one expansion module at a time; expansion modules cannot be chained or hot-swapped. IEM-3300-16P= adds 16 Gigabit PoE+ ports, producing a 26-port system. Attach the selected module with power disconnected and account for its operating consumption when specifying the external power source.
IE-3300-8U2X-E includes perpetual Network Essentials; IE3300-NW-A= adds perpetual Network Advantage. Optional Cisco Catalyst Center Essentials and Advantage subscriptions have three-, five- or seven-year terms, with Advantage requiring Network Advantage. No Catalyst Center subscription is mandatory for basic switch operation, including an ORM hardware order.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE3300 Rugged. Software-release retirement and accessory retirement are separate from retirement of the switch hardware. Keep the hardware purchase and the intended Cisco IOS XE release selection as separate lifecycle checks before ordering.
IE-3300-8U2X-E is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to 3 years extended for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Cisco's separate hardware warranty is five years limited. Both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested.
IE-3300-8U2X-E provides 4PPoE Type 3 on its copper access ports, while IE-3300-8T2X-E is non-PoE. Both retain eight Gigabit copper connections and two 10G fiber uplinks. The powered model suits endpoints receiving power through Ethernet; the non-PoE model suits endpoints with separate power sources.
IE-3300-8U2X-E includes Network Essentials, while IE-3300-8U2X-A includes Network Advantage. Advantage adds dynamic-routing protocols including OSPF, BGP and EIGRP beyond the Essentials static-routing configuration. Choose the E model for switching and static routing; the A model suits purchases requiring dynamic routing in the supplied license.
IE-3300-8U2X-E carries two 10G SFP+ uplinks, while IE-3300-8P2S-E carries two 1G SFP uplinks. This uplink-speed difference changes the fiber connection class to the upstream network. The 10G model suits a 10G connection requirement; the 1G model suits an installation whose upstream links remain Gigabit Ethernet.
IE-3300-8U2X-E operates from -40°C to 60°C in a sealed enclosure, to 70°C with required ventilation, or to 75°C with required forced airflow. The higher limits depend on enclosure airflow, not merely ambient temperature. Non-industrial optics can further reduce the allowable operating temperature for the complete installation.
IE-3300-8U2X-E uses two external DC inputs accepting 9.6-60V DC, with 54V DC required for PoE+ and 4PPoE operation. When both sources are energized, the higher-voltage source supplies the switch. Its 42W operating consumption excludes endpoint PoE output and must be included in external supply sizing.
Catalyst IE3300 Rugged supports 16000 unicast MAC addresses for learned endpoint addressing. The series also supports 256 VLANs for network segmentation. These are switch resource limits, not per-port allowances; account for the complete set of attached endpoints and intended segmentation when preparing the configuration.
