SF550X-48P-K9 combines 48 Fast Ethernet PoE+ access ports with four fixed 10G uplinks in a 1U managed switch. Two uplinks are dedicated SFP+ cages; the other two offer shared copper/SFP+ connections, with one medium active per connection. The 550X serves small-business networks retaining 10/100 endpoints while using faster upstream connections. Its static and RIP-based routing feature set supports Layer 2+ operation without a removable uplink card. The discontinued SF550X-48MP-K9-NA raises the power allocation to 740W for a different endpoint-power requirement. A 48-port 10/100 PoE+ stackable switch remains a purchase for existing Fast Ethernet installations, not a Gigabit access upgrade. Confirm endpoint link-speed requirements before selecting this hardware.

89.6 Gbps switching capacity accommodates the built-in access and uplink interfaces without an oversubscribed switching fabric. 66.66 Mpps forwarding supports wire-speed processing of 64-byte packets. 382W of shared PoE power requires allocation across the connected devices rather than an assumption of maximum output everywhere. Sixteen powered ports support 60W, while the remaining powered ports support 30W. SF550X-48P-K9 carries 512 MB of memory and 256 MB of flash for its embedded switching software and configuration. A dynamically shared 3 MB packet buffer handles traffic bursts across the interfaces. Eight hardware queues provide traffic scheduling, while STP, RSTP and MSTP address switching-loop control. The switch supports 4094 active VLANs and 3000 access-control entries for segmentation and filtering. Browser management and Textview CLI provide local administration paths, with SNMP available for monitoring systems. Internal redundant power modules are not provided; the chassis instead includes an external RPS connector.
Specify SF550X-48P-K9 as new sealed or certified refurbished, and confirm the regional ordering form, required accessories and quantity on the purchase order. ORM's certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, PoE output under load on every powered port, optics bay recognition, PSU and fan status, firmware verification and configuration wiping to factory default. New units carry up to a 3-year extended warranty; certified refurbished units carry up to 1 year, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. For enterprise and volume orders, ORM accepts POs, offers Net-30 for government and provides RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US and MEA operations.

A branch consolidating separate address domains can configure routed interfaces on physical ports, link aggregations, VLANs or loopbacks. The switch supports 256 IP interfaces and 1792 IPv6 static routes. Before the PO, check the required interface inventory and IPv6 route count against those limits.
A repeat order for several locations can use text-editable configuration files and Secure Copy transfers rather than rebuilding each configuration manually. DHCP-assisted configuration download provides another provisioning path. Specify the regional ordering form, approved configuration file and staging procedure before releasing a multi-site purchase order.
A staging lab investigating endpoint traffic can mirror eight source ports to one destination port and export sFlow samples to an external collector. These functions address different observation requirements. Identify the capture destination, collector and required source interfaces before specifying the lab hardware and associated connections.
Gigabit connectivity on every access port
The 48 access ports stop at 100 Mbps. C1300-48P-4X provides 48 Gigabit access ports and is the current endpoint of the replacement chain.
Maximum power across every powered port
The shared allocation cannot supply every port at its individual maximum simultaneously. Endpoint power must be allocated within the switch-wide budget rather than assumed from port ratings.
Continuing Cisco service entitlement
Cisco service ended June 30, 2025. A purchase requiring continuing manufacturer support should move to the current migration endpoint, C1300-48P-4X, rather than this discontinued switch.

SF550X-48P-K9 identifies the 550X Fast Ethernet model with 48 PoE+ access ports; P marks the powered version. K9 remains part of the ordering identifier. SF550X-48P-K9-NA is the North American regional form, while SF550X-48P-K9-EU and SF550X-48P-K9-UK identify other regional ordering variants.
SF550X-48P-K9 supports HTTP/HTTPS browser management, Textview CLI through console, SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. Additional integrations include Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager, an embedded FindIT Network Probe, Active Advisor and FindIT Network Discovery Utility. Network Plug and Play supports provisioning.
SF550X-48P-K9 is discontinued, with end of sale on June 18, 2020, and Cisco support ending June 30, 2025. Software maintenance ended June 18, 2021. Cisco service has ended, so a remaining-stock or refurbished purchase must be evaluated separately from an order requiring continuing manufacturer support.
ORM offers SF550X-48P-K9 new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty is separate, and Cisco service ended June 30, 2025. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested.
SF550X-48P-K9 provides a shared 382W PoE budget across 48 powered access ports. Sixteen ports support 60W output, while the other powered ports support 30W. These are individual port limits, not a promise of simultaneous maximum output; the connected endpoint allocation must remain within the shared budget.
SF550X-48P-K9 has four fixed 10G uplinks: two dedicated SFP+ connections and two copper/SFP+ combo connections. Each combo connection permits one active medium at a time. SFP-10G-SR supports multimode fiber and SFP-10G-LR supports single-mode fiber; specify the required optics separately from the switch.
SF550X-48P-K9 supports hardware stacks of eight members using 10G copper or fiber interfaces. Ring and chain arrangements are supported, including mixed SF550X, SG550X, SG550XG and SX550X members. Supported direct-attach options include SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M and SFP-H10GB-CU5M; reserve the required interfaces when planning uplinks.
The 550X provides IPv4 static routing, RIP v2 dynamic routing, IPv6 static routing, VRRP and policy-based routing. Its limits include 7168 IPv4 routes, 1792 IPv6 routes and 256 IP interfaces. Routed interfaces can use physical ports, link aggregations, VLAN interfaces or loopbacks, so check the proposed interface and route inventory.
SF550X-48P-K9 does not include redundant internal power-supply modules; power redundancy uses an external RPS connection. The internal universal AC input accepts 100-240V. An RPS connector is present, but that connection must not be mistaken for a second installed internal supply when specifying the hardware configuration.
SF550X-48P-K9 provides a 382W shared PoE budget, whereas SF550X-48MP-K9-NA provides 740W. Both models are discontinued. The former addresses lower aggregate endpoint demand; the latter addresses a larger aggregate power requirement, without removing the need to check each powered device and the overall allocation.
SF550X-48P-K9 carries 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, while SF550X-24P-K9-NA carries 24. Both models are discontinued. The 48-port version addresses a larger endpoint inventory within one chassis; the 24-port version addresses a smaller port requirement. Confirm the required connection count before selecting either legacy model.
SF550X-48P-K9 has 10/100 access ports, while C1300-48P-4X has Gigabit access ports. C1300-48P-4X is the current migration endpoint through the discontinued SG550X-48P-K9-NA and CBS350-48P-4X-NA models. The older switch serves Fast Ethernet retention requirements; the current model addresses buyers moving their access connections to Gigabit.
This 550X configuration is a 1U rack-mount switch measuring 440 mm wide, 44 mm high and 350 mm deep, with a weight of 5.09 kg. The original package includes a mounting kit. Allow for cable routing and chassis depth when checking the intended rack position before ordering.
