SG550X-48-K9-UK is a managed Layer 2+ access switch with 48 Gigabit copper ports and four fixed 10G uplinks in a 1U rack chassis. Two uplinks provide dedicated SFP+ connections; two share 10GBASE-T and SFP+ connections, with one medium active per pair. The Cisco 550X Series addresses small and midsize business networks connecting computers, printers, and other wired devices. Unlike the discontinued SG550X-48P-K9-UK, this model does not supply PoE endpoint power. Copper and fiber uplink options accommodate different cable plants without a removable uplink card.

176 Gbps switching capacity carries traffic across the access and uplink interfaces, while 130.94 Mpps forwarding is rated with 64-byte packets. Static IPv4/IPv6 routing, RIP v2, VRRP v2/v3, and PBR provide inter-VLAN routing and gateway-control functions. SG550X-48-K9-UK uses 512 MB DRAM and 256 MB flash for switch operation and software storage. A shared 3 MB packet buffer accommodates traffic bursts across ports. The SG550X-48 supports STP/RSTP/MSTP for loop control and LACP for link aggregation, including aggregation across stack members.
ORM Systems offers SG550X-48-K9-UK new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units, up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, optics bay recognition, PSU status, and fan status; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify condition, optics, cabling, and quantities on the purchase order; Cisco's separate limited lifetime coverage remains subject to eligibility and the July 31, 2027 support cutoff. PO accepted, Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and UK, EU, US, and MEA stock/RMA arrangements apply to enterprise and volume orders.

When an existing 550X stack needs another member, mixed SF550X, SG550X, SG550XG, and SX550X membership is supported. Stack links form part of the front-panel connection plan rather than separate rear-panel connections. Confirm compatible members, ring or chain topology, matched stack-link speeds, and remaining uplink availability before ordering.
When preparing replacement units on a bench, the default management address is 192.168.1.254 and DHCP is enabled. Several unconfigured switches therefore need an addressing plan before they share a staging network. Specify management addressing, administrator credentials, configuration loading, and the saved configuration handover before the purchase order.
When a branch requires local communication between VLANs, 256 IP interfaces provide the interface ceiling for the routing plan. Interface allocation must cover the intended physical, VLAN, aggregated, and loopback connections. Check the branch addressing design against that ceiling and specify the required interface configuration before ordering.
PoE-powered phones or access points
SG550X-48-K9-UK supplies no endpoint power. C1300-48P-4X is the current 48-port PoE migration option with four 10G SFP+ uplinks; size its endpoint power separately.
Manufacturer support beyond July 2027
Cisco support for SG550X-48-K9-UK ends July 31, 2027. C1300-48T-4X is the current successor after the discontinued intermediate replacement, CBS350-48T-4X-UK.

SG550X-48-K9-UK identifies a 48-port Gigabit 550X stackable managed switch in the -UK regional form. SG550X names the model family and 48 the access-port count. The -UK markets include the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
SG550X-48-K9-UK supports HTTP/HTTPS web management, console CLI, SSH, Telnet, SNMP, Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager, an embedded FindIT Network Probe, and Active Advisor integration. The web interface includes dashboard views and configuration wizards. Select the management method and establish administrator credentials during staging.
SG550X-48-K9-UK ended sale on July 30, 2022, with applicable Cisco support ending July 31, 2027. Software maintenance ended July 30, 2023. New sealed inventory remains discontinued hardware, and purchasing a different condition does not restart these milestones. Match the intended service period to the support deadline.
ORM Systems offers SG550X-48-K9-UK new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units or up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty requires eligibility and ends no later than July 31, 2027.
SG550X-48-K9-UK replaces the discontinued SF550X-48-K9-UK, whose Cisco sales ended June 18, 2020. The older model has 48 Fast Ethernet access ports; the replacement raises access connectivity to Gigabit. Existing installations still require a review of connection assignments and configuration before exchanging hardware.
SG550X-48-K9-UK has four fixed 10G uplinks: two dedicated SFP+ connections and two shared 10GBASE-T/SFP+ connections. Each shared pair permits one copper or fiber connection at a time, not both. Supported fiber optics include SFP-10G-SR and SFP-10G-LR; specify matching optics and cabling separately.
A Cisco 550X hardware stack contains eight members at maximum and operates as a single managed system. Supported direct-attach stack cables include SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M, and SFP-H10GB-CU5M. Match stack-link speeds and reserve the selected front-panel interfaces, because those connections cannot simultaneously serve ordinary uplink traffic.
SG550X-48-K9-UK provides static IPv4/IPv6 routing, RIP v2, VRRP v2/v3, and PBR. Static routes establish configured paths, RIP v2 exchanges IPv4 routes dynamically, and VRRP supports redundant default gateways. Match these functions to the intended routing design rather than assuming an enterprise routing feature set.
SG550X-48-K9-UK supplies no PoE, while the discontinued SG550X-48P-K9-UK provides PoE+ with a shared 382W budget. The data-only model serves independently powered endpoints; the powered model addresses existing 550X installations requiring endpoint power. For new powered-access procurement, C1300-48P-4X is the current migration option.
SG550X-48-K9-UK has 48 Gigabit access ports, whereas the discontinued SG550X-24-K9-UK has 24. Both provide four 10G uplinks, so the distinction is access density rather than uplink speed. The larger model serves denser existing installations; the smaller model matches lower-density replacement requirements.
SG550X-48-K9-UK is discontinued with Cisco support ending July 31, 2027, whereas C1300-48T-4X is the current migration endpoint. The intermediate CBS350-48T-4X-UK replacement is also discontinued. Existing 550X replacement orders may require the legacy model; new hardware standardization should evaluate the Catalyst 1300 successor instead.
