SGE2010P is a managed Layer 2+ Gigabit PoE switch with 48 copper connections, four shared fiber interfaces and a rack-mount chassis. Its fixed uplink arrangement supports copper or fiber connections without a removable uplink card; using a fiber interface replaces its corresponding copper connection. The Cisco Small Business model serves networks connecting computers alongside compatible powered phones, wireless access points and surveillance cameras. Compared with SGE2010, the powered variant supplies endpoint power through the Ethernet cable. This 48-port Gigabit PoE managed switch combines network segmentation, traffic prioritization and access controls for installations that require more than unmanaged connectivity.

96 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking store-and-forward switching, while 71.4 Mpps forwarding handles 64-byte packets. 360W of shared PoE output requires endpoint power allocation rather than assuming every powered port can deliver its individual maximum simultaneously. Static routing supports 60 routes for networks using explicitly configured forwarding paths. SGE2010P maintains 8000 MAC entries and provides browser-based configuration, remote terminal access and SNMP monitoring for administration. STP, RSTP and MSTP control switching loops, while LACP combines physical links into logical connections. Access controls include MAC-based filtering, RADIUS authentication and ACLs; DHCP snooping, ARP inspection and IP Source Guard provide additional traffic checks. Small Business managed switches in this configuration use fixed Gigabit interfaces rather than a modular high-speed uplink architecture.
SGE2010P is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot and PoE output under load on every powered port, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM warranties provide up to three-year extended coverage for new units and up to one year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply, and Cisco manufacturer coverage has ended. Specify this switch's condition, quantity and required accompanying hardware on the purchase order. Enterprise and volume orders accept POs, with Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

When several small-business sites need consistent network segmentation, the limit of 256 active VLANs provides a boundary for the common configuration. Include management access and endpoint VLAN assignments in the rollout checklist, then confirm that each site's required VLAN set fits before issuing the purchase order.
When an existing installation needs a staged spare, dual firmware images provide separate image locations for maintenance preparation. Identify the firmware image and configuration required by the installed network rather than assuming a replacement arrives deployment-ready. Specify the acceptance checks and configuration handover requirements before the purchase order.
10G uplinks to distribution
The fixed copper and shared fiber interfaces operate at Gigabit speeds. A requirement for a native 10G uplink exceeds this switch's interface capabilities.
PoE+ power for connected endpoints
Endpoint power is limited to IEEE 802.3af PoE with a 15.4W per-port maximum. Devices requiring PoE+ power exceed the supported power class.
Active Cisco manufacturer service coverage
Cisco service ended December 31, 2017. An order requiring active manufacturer support cannot be fulfilled through this retired model, regardless of hardware condition.

SGE2010 identifies the 48-port Gigabit managed model, and P denotes Power over Ethernet in SGE2010P. The complete part number distinguishes the powered version from the non-PoE model. Match the full PID when specifying a replacement for an existing installation that powers devices through their Ethernet connections.
SGE2010P supports an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, local console access, SSH, Telnet and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. Administrators can configure the unit through its management interfaces and monitor it through SNMP. Establish the required management access and credentials during staging rather than treating the hardware as an unmanaged replacement.
SGE2010P reached end of sale on December 30, 2012, and its last date of Cisco support was December 31, 2017. Cisco manufacturer service has ended. Treat procurement as maintenance of a retired installation, with replacement arrangements established separately from any expectation of active Cisco support.
New sealed and certified refurbished SGE2010P units carry ORM warranties of up to three years extended and up to one year, respectively. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's original five-year limited hardware warranty is no longer active, and manufacturer service ended December 31, 2017.
SGE2010P provides a shared 360W PoE budget on regular AC power, with a 15.4W maximum on an individual port. External redundant power reduces the available PoE budget to 280W. Size the combined endpoint load against the applicable budget rather than assuming every port can supply its maximum simultaneously.
The 48-port Gigabit PoE managed switch provides four shared 1G SFP interfaces on SGE2010P. Each fiber interface shares a connection with a copper port, so copper and fiber are alternatives at those positions. Specify the intended connection medium before finalizing the port allocation and purchase order.
SGE2010P includes static routing with a limit of 60 routes, making its routing capability Layer 2+ for procurement comparisons. Networks using this capability require explicitly configured routes. Confirm the required route count and forwarding arrangement before ordering hardware intended to take over an existing routed configuration.
SGE2010P supplies PoE, while SGE2010 does not supply endpoint power. Both belong to the retired Gigabit switch family, so this distinction matters when matching legacy hardware. The powered model serves compatible powered endpoints; the non-PoE model serves endpoints that already receive power through another connection.
SGE2010P provides 48 copper Gigabit ports, whereas SGE2000P provides 24. Both belong to the retired switch family, so this is a legacy density comparison rather than a current-generation upgrade recommendation. The larger model suits an existing higher-density requirement; the smaller model suits maintaining an established lower-density installation.
SGE2010P uses 10/100/1000 copper connections, while SFE2010P uses 10/100 copper access connections. These are retired models for maintaining established installations, not current successors. The Gigabit model suits existing endpoints requiring Gigabit links; the Fast Ethernet model suits an installation whose access-link requirement remains Fast Ethernet.
