SGE2000 combines Gigabit copper connectivity with shared fiber connections in a managed, non-PoE rack switch. Twenty-four copper connectors include four combo connections paired with fixed Gigabit SFP slots; selecting fiber replaces the corresponding copper connection rather than adding an independent port. The chassis provides 20 dedicated copper access connections alongside those shared connections. Layer 2+ operation adds static IPv4 routing for networks that need manually configured paths between subnets. Cisco Small Business Managed Switches support network segmentation, traffic prioritization, and controlled endpoint access. The discontinued SGE2000P differs by providing PoE, while this model carries data without powering attached devices.

48 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking forwarding, while 35.7 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets. Static IPv4 routing supports 128 routes, with forwarding performed in silicon. SGE2000 maintains 8000 MAC entries for learned Ethernet destinations. LACP supports link aggregation, and spanning-tree options include Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning Tree, and Multiple Spanning Tree. Access control lists can filter or rate-limit traffic using address, protocol, port, and VLAN criteria. Four hardware queues support priority queuing and weighted round-robin scheduling. SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 provide monitoring integration, while port mirroring exposes selected traffic for analysis. Two fans cool the chassis within its 0°C to 40°C operating range; this is not a fanless desktop design.
SGE2000 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, every port links at rated speed, optics bay recognition is checked, firmware is verified, and configurations are wiped to factory default. ORM warranties provide up to 3-year extended coverage on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Cisco service ended December 31, 2017. Specify condition, quantity, rack hardware, and console cable requirements on the purchase order. POs are accepted, with Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When an existing Gigabit stack needs another member, confirm that every proposed partner belongs to the Gigabit group; Fast Ethernet models cannot join that stack. Use consistent unit numbering rather than mixing automatic and manual IDs, and specify the intended membership before the PO.
When a replacement unit must be prepared before installation, dual firmware images provide separate image storage for the staging process. Browser-based and TFTP upgrades support preparation without changing the production cabling. Confirm the required firmware image, saved configuration, and upgrade method before specifying the order.
When several offices need a common segmentation plan, the switch supports 256 active VLANs within a 4096-ID range. Port-based, tag-based, and protocol-based VLAN options require a consistent assignment plan across locations. Reconcile active VLAN counts and endpoint assignments before ordering the site quantities.
10G connections to upstream switches
SGE2000 fiber connections stop at 1G. C1300-24T-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks alongside 24 Gigabit copper ports for purchases requiring faster upstream connections.
Power delivery to connected endpoints
SGE2000 provides Ethernet data connections without PoE output. Phones, cameras, or access points requiring power through their network cable cannot receive that power from this chassis.
Active Cisco hardware service coverage
Cisco service for SGE2000 ended on December 31, 2017. The current migration endpoint is C1300-24T-4X; the intermediate SG500-28 replacement is also discontinued.

SGE2000 identifies Cisco's 24-port Gigabit managed switch, with no separate regional or license suffix in the supplied part number. Four copper connections share their interfaces with SFP slots. The complete model name identifies the non-PoE version, rather than an endpoint-powering configuration.
SGE2000 supports browser-based management, SSH, Telnet for simple configuration and diagnostics, and a local console connection. HTTP and HTTPS serve the web interface, while SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 support monitoring. Specify console access requirements separately from the intended remote management method.
SGE2000 is discontinued: Cisco ended sales on December 30, 2012, and support on December 31, 2017. Its immediate replacement, SG500-28, is also discontinued. The subsequent migration chain leads to C1300-24T-4X, rather than treating the first replacement as a current purchase option.
New sealed and certified refurbished SGE2000 units carry ORM warranties of up to 3-year extended and up to 1 year, respectively, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original 5-year limited hardware and 90-day software warranties no longer provide coverage; Cisco service ended December 31, 2017.
SGE2000 SFP slots add no independent connections because each shares an interface with a copper connector. The chassis has 24 Gigabit connections overall, including four copper-or-fiber combo connections. Plan each shared connection for one medium rather than assigning simultaneous copper and fiber links to the same interface.
SGE2000 supports eight stack members using ring or chain arrangements, with a master and backup master for stack control. Gigabit and Fast Ethernet members cannot be mixed. Ports 12/GBIC 3 and 24/GBIC 4 default to stacking, so connection assignments depend on the selected operating mode.
SGE2000 provides static IPv4 routing with 128 static routes and silicon-based forwarding. This makes the switch Layer 2+ rather than a dynamic-routing purchase. Confirm that manually maintained routes cover the intended subnet plan before selecting the chassis for routing duties alongside its Ethernet switching functions.
SGE2000 does not have redundant internal power-supply modules; power redundancy uses an external RPS1000 connection. Its primary power source is an internal universal AC supply. Specify RPS1000 separately when that external redundancy arrangement is required rather than expecting a second internal supply in the chassis.
The Cisco SGE2000 Gigabit managed switch is rack mountable, and its original package includes rack-mounting hardware. The chassis measures 440 mm wide, 375 mm deep, and 44 mm high. Confirm bracket inclusion for the selected condition and allow space for its fan-cooled enclosure.
SGE2000P supplies PoE through its copper ports, whereas SGE2000 provides data without endpoint power. Both are discontinued 24-port Gigabit models with shared SFP connections. Existing installations retaining separately powered equipment can specify SGE2000; legacy replacements that must deliver power over Ethernet require the powered configuration.
SGE2010 has 48 Gigabit copper connections, while SGE2000 has 24, making connection density the principal difference for this comparison. Both include four shared fiber connections. SGE2000 fits a smaller legacy connection requirement; SGE2010 addresses higher-density legacy installations rather than adding a second 24-port chassis.
C1300-24T-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, whereas SGE2000 uses shared 1G SFP connections. SGE2000 is discontinued and fits like-for-like legacy replacement requirements. C1300-24T-4X is the migration choice for buyers requiring faster upstream connections instead of preserving the older shared Gigabit connection arrangement.
