ESS-3300-24T-CON-A is a conduction-cooled, Layer 3 embedded switch bundle for integration into custom industrial equipment, not a finished rack switch. The assembly combines a mainboard and expansion board, supporting 24 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and two fixed 10G uplink interfaces. Network Advantage supplies the routing feature tier. Embedded Services 3300 hardware serves integrators building specialized systems for transportation, defense, mining, and oil and gas applications. Ethernet and power connections require integration into the host equipment rather than direct connection to an installed front panel. The closely related ESS-3300-24T-CON-E retains the board arrangement but carries Network Essentials instead of Network Advantage.

Line-rate forwarding covers all ports and packet sizes. 24W typical consumption provides a starting point for board power planning, not a maximum rating for a completed system with peripherals. OSPFv2, OSPFv3, EIGRP, and IS-IS support routed integration; PBR and PIM-SM add policy-based forwarding and multicast capabilities. ESS-3300-24T-CON-A provides 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB onboard flash for its software environment. MACsec-256 protects supported Gigabit downlinks, but the 10G uplink interfaces do not support MACsec. Carrier design must accommodate both required DC supply rails and the external interfaces. The published temperature range is measured at the conduction plate, so enclosure thermal performance must be assessed separately from the board’s operating limit.
Order ESS-3300-24T-CON-A as new sealed or certified refurbished, specifying quantity and condition on the purchase order. Certified refurbished assemblies are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, and a clean boot; firmware is verified and configuration is wiped to factory default. ORM warranty coverage is up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. Enterprise and volume orders accept POs, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement; regional stock and RMA coverage spans the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

Replaces | ESS-2020-24TC-CON / ESS-2020-24TC-CONB; end-of-sale July 19, 2022 |
An assembly using discontinued ESS-2020-24TC-CON or ESS-2020-24TC-CONB hardware has a named migration path to this bundle. Both older products reached end of sale on July 19, 2022. Treat the change as an integration project: specify carrier compatibility, external interfaces, and software requirements before releasing the replacement purchase order.
A custom system that separates traffic into multiple routing domains can use the Network Advantage feature set with 16 VRFs. That requirement differs from simply adding Ethernet connections. Define the routing-domain allocation, required protocol behavior, and software acceptance tests before specifying production quantities for the embedded assembly.
A carrier-board prototype needs interface validation before a production quantity is released. The mainboard and expansion board each expose connections through two board-to-board interfaces, so mechanical mating and electrical integration belong in the staging plan. Specify a compatible test fixture and acceptance procedure before ordering production spares.
Ready-to-cable rack installation
The bundle consists of embedded boards requiring host integration, rather than an enclosed switch with a finished connector panel. A complete carrier, enclosure, and external interface implementation are required.
PoE without additional host circuitry
The board bundle does not independently provide endpoint power. PoE operation requires the integrator to add compatible controllers and supporting circuitry to the finished host system.
MACsec on 10G uplinks
The two uplink interfaces do not support MACsec, even when operated at a lower speed. MACsec encryption is restricted to supported Gigabit downlink interfaces.

ESS-3300-24T-CON-A identifies an Embedded Services 3300 mainboard and expansion-board bundle with cooling plates and Network Advantage. ESS-3300 identifies the family; 24T identifies the 24-Gigabit-interface assembly; CON identifies conduction cooling; A identifies Network Advantage. The bundle includes the expansion board rather than only the mainboard.
Embedded Services 3300 supports a web UI, local console CLI, remote CLI over SSH or Telnet, SNMP, NETCONF, and RESTCONF. RS-232 and USB provide console interfaces. Initial network addressing and account configuration must be established before using network-based management through the completed host equipment.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Embedded Services 3300. Software-release retirement notices are separate from hardware retirement. For a long-lived equipment build, specify the required software release and support entitlement separately rather than treating a release-specific retirement milestone as the board bundle’s hardware end-of-sale date.
ORM Systems offers ESS-3300-24T-CON-A new sealed or certified refurbished. ORM warranty coverage is up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Every condition has 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco’s separate hardware warranty is a 1-year limited warranty.
ESS-3300-24T-CON-A includes permanent Network Advantage licensing; DNA Essentials and DNA Advantage are term-based add-ons. Base capabilities remain when DNA use ends. Continued DNA operation requires renewal; otherwise deactivate the add-on and reload. Network Advantage entitlement handling uses the corresponding Smart Account and applicable Smart Licensing workflow.
ESS-3300-24T-CON-A replaces the discontinued ESS-2020-24TC-CON and ESS-2020-24TC-CONB. Both older models reached end of sale on July 19, 2022, with last support scheduled for July 31, 2027. Specify carrier compatibility, external connections, and software requirements before substituting the newer bundle into an existing equipment assembly.
No, ESS-3300-24T-CON-A requires additional host circuitry to supply PoE. Cisco IOS XE can control PoE when the integrator provides compatible controllers and the necessary circuitry in the finished equipment. Do not specify an endpoint-power budget solely from the board bundle’s interface count or software feature tier.
The Embedded Services 3300 bundle supports 24 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and two 10G optical uplink interfaces. Four Gigabit interfaces on each board can operate as copper-or-fiber combo interfaces. Those alternatives share interfaces; they are not additional independent connections. External connectors and transceiver accommodation depend on the host implementation.
ESS-3300-24T-CON-A carries Network Advantage, while ESS-3300-24T-CON-E carries Network Essentials. Both combine the mainboard and expansion board with cooling plates. The A model suits systems requiring the Network Advantage routing features; the E model suits builds whose required capabilities remain within the Network Essentials feature set.
ESS-3300-24T-CON-A includes cooling plates, while ESS-3300-24T-NCP-A omits them. Both use the mainboard-plus-expansion-board arrangement with Network Advantage. The CON assembly suits an integration using the supplied conduction plates; the NCP assembly suits an integrator providing a custom thermal solution for the boards and completed enclosure.
ESS-3300-24T-CON-A supports 24 Gigabit interfaces through its mainboard and expansion board, while ESS-3300-CON-A supports eight through the mainboard alone. Both retain two 10G uplink interfaces. The bundle suits higher interface-density requirements; the mainboard-only model suits an embedded design requiring the smaller Gigabit interface allocation.
The conduction-cooled Embedded Services 3300 supports -40°C to 85°C measured at the center of the cooling plate’s top surface. That is not an ambient-temperature guarantee for finished equipment. The enclosure’s thermal characteristics determine the completed system’s operating range, so thermal acceptance must be established for the actual host design.
