IE-3400H-24T-E provides IP67-rated industrial switching through 24 fixed Gigabit Ethernet M12 X-coded interfaces rather than conventional RJ-45 sockets. The managed, non-PoE configuration includes Network Essentials and supports Layer 2+ operation in a wall-mount enclosure. All Ethernet connections use copper M12 interfaces; there is no separate fiber uplink bank or removable uplink card. The Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty family supports deployment around industrial equipment exposed to dust and water without requiring a housing cabinet. IE-3400H-24T-A carries Network Advantage on the same 24-port Gigabit hardware, separating the two models by their included network license rather than their physical connections. Connector coding and network entitlement therefore both matter when specifying this industrial switch.

Static routing and inter-VLAN routing support communication between local subnets; OSPF, BGP and EIGRP are not included in the supplied license. Line-rate forwarding across all ports and packet sizes supports the fixed Ethernet interfaces without a numerical forwarding-rate specification. 49.8W maximum consumption provides the switch-load allowance for DC power planning. IE-3400H-24T-E has 4 GB DRAM, 1.5 GB user-accessible flash and capacity for 16000 unicast MAC addresses. The IE3400 Heavy Duty Series supports 256 VLANs and eight queues for traffic separation and prioritization. RSTP, MSTP and LACP provide topology and link-aggregation controls, while MACsec-128 supports link encryption. NETCONF, RESTCONF and YANG provide programmable configuration paths. One alarm input and one alarm output support connections to external monitoring equipment, separate from the Ethernet interfaces.

Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed and a clean boot, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. An installed IE-2000-24T67-B fleet has passed its March 31, 2026 last support date. IE-3400H-24T-E is a replacement option that moves those connections from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet. Before the PO, review existing connection harnesses and specify the required M12 X-coded eight-pin Ethernet connections.
When a spare must be prepared before shipment, optional SD-IE-16GB storage and CAB-CONSOLE-M12= console access can require separate accessory lines. Removable storage is not included by default. Define the storage requirement, identify the console connection accessory and agree on the staging configuration before submitting the PO.
Industrial sites without direct access to licensing services can use Smart Licensing Using Policy with offline usage reporting to Cisco Smart Software Manager. Establish who exports and uploads usage information, identify the receiving Smart Account and include the required license entitlements before submitting a multisite hardware PO.
Fiber connections to distribution
IE-3400H-24T-E provides Gigabit Ethernet through M12 X-coded copper connectors, without SFP cages or removable uplink cards. Fiber uplinks are not supported by this hardware configuration.
OSPF or BGP without license upgrades
IE-3400H-24T-E includes Network Essentials; OSPF and BGP require Network Advantage. IE-3400H-24T-A supplies that license with the same 24-port Gigabit M12 configuration.

IE-3400H-24T-E identifies a Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet M12 interfaces and Network Essentials. IE-3400H names the series, 24 is the interface count, T identifies the Gigabit Ethernet configuration, and E identifies the included perpetual network license.
WebUI, CLI access through the console or SSH/Telnet, SNMP, NETCONF, RESTCONF and Cisco Catalyst Center manage IE-3400H-24T-E. Local console access uses CAB-CONSOLE-M12=. Cisco Catalyst Center integration uses separately purchased add-on licenses; select the management method and associated license entitlement before placing the order.
IE-3400H-24T-E includes perpetual Network Essentials and supports optional DNA Essentials or DNA Advantage subscriptions with three-, five- or seven-year terms. Cisco Catalyst Center subscriptions are not mandatory for base operation. Cisco Catalyst Center Advantage requires Network Advantage, obtainable through the IE3400H-NW-A= upgrade license.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty. IE-3400H-24T-E is separate from the software releases and storage accessories with retirement announcements. For an equipment refresh, distinguish the switch's hardware lifecycle from the support lifecycle of the installed software release.
IE-3400H-24T-E replaces IE-2000-24T67-B as a Gigabit Ethernet migration option for its 24-interface IP67 configuration. The discontinued predecessor reached end of sale on March 5, 2021, and Cisco support ended March 31, 2026. Review connection harnesses when moving from the older Fast Ethernet installation.
9.6-60V DC powers IE-3400H-24T-E through a single mini-change connector, with maximum consumption of 49.8W. PWR-IE160W-67-DC= is an optional IP67-rated DC-DC supply with 18-60V DC input and 54V DC output. Specify the upstream DC source and connection hardware separately from the Ethernet connection requirements.
IE-3400H-24T-E has 24 fixed 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet M12 X-coded interfaces and no separate optical uplink ports. The Ethernet connections use eight-pin M12 connectors rather than RJ-45 sockets. Specify compatible copper connection harnesses; the chassis does not provide SFP cages or removable uplink cards.
IE-3400H-24T-E includes Network Essentials, whereas IE-3400H-24T-A includes Network Advantage on the same 24-port Gigabit M12 hardware.
