CAB-CONSOLE-M12= connects the M12 console to a DB9 serial interface at 9600 baud. Include CAB-CONSOLE-M12= and confirm the staging workstation connection before ordering.

Native fiber uplinks to distribution
IE-3400H-8FT-A has fixed M12 copper interfaces, with no SFP cages or removable uplink module bay. An optical transceiver cannot be installed in this enclosure.
Ethernet power for connected endpoints
IE-3400H-8FT-A supplies data connections only and has no powered Ethernet ports. Connected endpoints require their own power source rather than drawing operating power from this switch.

IE-3400H-8FT-A identifies the Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty family through IE-3400H, eight interfaces through 8, Fast Ethernet M12 interfaces through FT, and Network Advantage through A. The part number has no separate uplink code. The designation identifies an IP67 industrial switch with Fast Ethernet connections, not a Gigabit model.
IE-3400H-8FT-A is managed through WebUI, CLI over the M12 console or SSH/Telnet, SNMP, Cisco Catalyst Center, Industrial Network Director, CIP management objects, and NETCONF/RESTCONF APIs using YANG. Local serial access uses CAB-CONSOLE-M12=. Select the management path before staging; Catalyst Center capabilities use separately purchased optional licenses.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty. IE-3400H-8FT-A remains available for hardware orders. IE-3400H-8FT-A requires separately provided DC power through a single Mini-change connector, not an internal AC power supply. The absolute input range is 9.6-60VDC. PWR-IE160W-67-DC= is an optional external DC-DC supply with 18-60VDC input. Specify the external DC source as part of the order.
The Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty switch mounts on a wall or panel using its mounting bracket. Allow 50.8 mm clearance above, below, at the sides, and in front. The supporting structure must carry the bracket and switch, and the installation must preserve unrestricted airflow around the enclosure.
