IE-9310-16P8S4X-E combines fanless industrial construction with Layer 3 switching, 16 Gigabit copper PoE+ downlinks, eight Gigabit SFP downlinks, and four fixed 1/10G SFP+ uplinks. The mixed-media layout connects powered copper endpoints and fiber-connected equipment without requiring a removable uplink card. Network Essentials is the included perpetual software tier. The Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series serves industrial environments including manufacturing, transportation, energy, and utility installations, with this model occupying a rack-mount 1U chassis. The IE-9320-16P8U4X-E sibling instead provides eight 4PPoE downlinks where this model provides fiber downlinks. The IE9310 Mixed port PoE switch is therefore the configuration to specify when the access-port schedule includes both powered copper connections and dedicated fiber connections.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E price is $5,179.65, a 40.1% saving from the Cisco list price of $8,652.00. IE-9310-16P8S4X-E is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

128 Gbps switching capacity establishes the full-duplex hardware ceiling for the port configuration. 95.23 Mpps forwarding is rated with 64-byte packets, providing a separate measure for small-packet workloads rather than aggregate bandwidth. OSPF supports up to 1000 routes under the included license; Static routing, RIP, OSPFv3, and PBR provide the other included routing choices. BGP, EIGRP, and IS-IS require Network Advantage. IE-9310-16P8S4X-E has 4 GB DRAM and 8 GB onboard flash, including approximately 2.5 GB of user-accessible storage for images and files. 24000 MAC entries provide the hardware address-table limit. Eight egress queues per port support traffic scheduling. PRP and HSR are supported alongside REP for industrial redundancy designs, while MACsec-128 provides link encryption. Four dry-contact alarm inputs and one Form-C relay alarm output provide connections for external monitoring and signaling. These interfaces should be included in the cabinet wiring schedule rather than treated as Ethernet management connections.
ORM Systems supplies IE-9310-16P8S4X-E new sealed or certified refurbished; specify the condition and included accessories on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, every port linking at rated speed, optics bay recognition, and PoE output under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configuration is wiped to factory default. New units carry up to a 3-year extended warranty, certified refurbished units up to 1 year, and every condition includes 30-day returns; terms apply. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

Replaces | IE-4010-16S12P; end of sale July 31, 2026 |
When retiring discontinued IE-4010-16S12P hardware, use its July 31, 2026 end-of-sale milestone to separate replacement purchasing from maintenance of the installed estate. The replacement is not a reason to reuse the old connection schedule unchanged. Reconcile endpoint media, powered connections, and uplink requirements before issuing the PO.
For repeated industrial cabinet installations, reserve 44 mm clearance above, below, and beside the chassis instead of allocating only its rack height. Flush wall mounting also requires a 5°C temperature derating for this model. Specify the mounting arrangement and verify enclosure clearances before standardizing the installation bill of materials.
When preparing standardized spares or a qualification lab, select Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1 or later for this hardware. Add SD-IE-16GB= only when removable image storage is part of the staging procedure; optional storage is not supplied by default. Confirm the approved image and removable-media requirements before the PO.
Hardware stacking across multiple switches
This model has no stacking interfaces. IE-9320-24P4X-E supports hardware stacking but changes the downlink arrangement to 24 copper PoE+ ports instead of mixed copper and fiber.
90W power for individual endpoints
The copper downlinks provide PoE+, not 90W 4PPoE. IE-9320-16P8U4X-E provides eight 90W-capable multigigabit copper downlinks in place of the eight SFP downlinks.
BGP with the included license
Network Essentials does not include BGP. IE-9310-16P8S4X-A includes Network Advantage for BGP while retaining the same copper, fiber, and uplink configuration as this model.

IE-9310-16P8S4X-E identifies a Catalyst IE9300 industrial switch: IE-9310 selects the model, 16P denotes 16 Gigabit PoE+ downlinks, 8S denotes eight SFP downlinks, and 4X denotes four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks. The final -E selects the included Network Essentials perpetual license rather than Network Advantage.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E supports WebUI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, local RJ-45 or Micro-USB console access, and Cisco Catalyst Center management. SNMP, NETCONF, and RESTCONF provide monitoring and automation interfaces. Express Setup supports initial configuration, while Catalyst Center management requires the appropriate optional management license.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE9300 Rugged. The IE-9310-16P8S4X-E hardware lifecycle is separate from the retirement schedule of individual Cisco IOS XE releases. A software-release end-of-life milestone does not itself discontinue the switch chassis or establish its hardware last date of support.
ORM Systems offers IE-9310-16P8S4X-E new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units. Both conditions include 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco separately provides a five-year limited hardware warranty for this product family.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E includes perpetual Network Essentials and does not require a Cisco Catalyst Center subscription for standalone operation. IE9300-NW-A= upgrades the network tier to Network Advantage. Optional Cisco Catalyst Center DNA Essentials and DNA Advantage terms are three, five, or seven years; DNA Advantage requires Network Advantage.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E replaces discontinued IE-4010-16S12P, whose end-of-sale date was July 31, 2026. The older model's last date of support is July 31, 2031. Replacement planning should reconcile copper, fiber, powered-endpoint, and uplink requirements rather than assume the previous connection layout transfers unchanged to the newer hardware.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-E adds eight 4PPoE downlinks capable of 90W per port where IE-9310-16P8S4X-E provides eight SFP fiber downlinks. Both configurations include 16 Gigabit PoE+ copper downlinks. Choose the former for additional high-power copper endpoints and the latter when those eight connections must use fiber.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-A includes Network Advantage, while IE-9310-16P8S4X-E includes Network Essentials. Network Advantage adds BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, and VRF-lite to the Essentials feature set. The -E model serves buyers whose routing requirements fit Essentials; the -A model serves buyers requiring those additional routing and virtualization capabilities.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E has four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks, whereas IE-9310-26S2C-E has four 1G SFP uplinks. That uplink-speed difference matters when specifying connections toward aggregation. Buyers requiring 10G uplinks should select the former; buyers specifying the latter must keep the uplink connection requirement within 1G per port.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E provides a 300W shared PoE budget with one PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 or 480W with two PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 supplies. The 16 copper downlinks support PoE+ at up to 30W per port. A full 480W endpoint allocation depends on both supplies remaining available, not on single-supply operation.
No, IE-9310-16P8S4X-E cannot join a hardware stack because this model has no dedicated stacking interfaces. Stacking support belongs to the stack-capable IE9320 variants, not every Catalyst IE9300 Rugged switch. Specify this model for standalone operation and evaluate any multi-switch stacking requirement before selecting the hardware configuration.
The Catalyst IE9300 Rugged 10G uplinks support SFP-10G-SR-I= for multimode links reaching 400m and SFP-10G-LR10-I= for single-mode links reaching 10km. Both are industrial-temperature options. Select optics against fiber type, distance, and cabinet temperature; using commercial-temperature or extended-temperature optics requires derating the switch operating-temperature range.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E includes Static routing, OSPF with up to 1000 routes, OSPFv3, RIP, and PBR under Network Essentials. OSPF support makes the supplied configuration Layer 3 rather than static-routing-only Layer 2+. BGP, EIGRP, and IS-IS belong to Network Advantage and require the corresponding network-tier upgrade.
The 105W figure for IE-9310-16P8S4X-E is indicative system consumption, not its PoE output budget or a power-supply rating. Actual system consumption varies with installed optics, power-supply efficiency, and the number of supplies. Plan endpoint allocation separately against the PoE budget of the selected power-supply configuration.
IE-9310-16P8S4X-E accepts PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H, PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H, PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250, and PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400, with an optional second supply for redundancy or additional PoE allocation. Do not combine high-voltage and low-voltage supplies. PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 cannot load-share with PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250, so specify compatible supply pairs on the purchase order.
