IE-9320-16P8U4X-A combines fanless industrial Layer 3 switching with sixteen Gigabit PoE+ downlinks and eight 2.5G 4PPoE downlinks for mixed endpoint inventories. Four fixed 10G SFP+ uplinks connect the access block to upstream aggregation without a removable uplink card. The rack-mount 1U chassis belongs to the Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series, serving hardened Ethernet installations in manufacturing, energy and transportation. Network Advantage is included for deployments requiring advanced routing and segmentation rather than an upgrade from the base network license. The IE-9320-24P4X-A sibling provides Gigabit PoE+ across its copper downlinks instead of this combination of Gigabit PoE+ and multigigabit 4PPoE. High-power cameras and wireless access points can share the access chassis with lower-draw industrial devices, subject to the selected power configuration.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A price for new stock is $18,294.15, a 39.4% saving from the Cisco list price of $30,201.00. IE-9320-16P8U4X-A refurb price is $18,913.50. IE-9320-16P8U4X-A is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

152 Gbps switching capacity provides full-duplex capacity across the interfaces, while 113.09 Mpps is the forwarding rate measured with 64-byte packets. BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS and OSPF support dynamic routed access; HSRP and PIM v2 add gateway redundancy and multicast routing. IE-9320-16P8U4X-A contains 4 GB DRAM and 8 GB onboard flash, with approximately 2.5 GB of flash accessible to the user for system files. The MAC address ceiling reaches 24000 entries with Cisco IOS XE 17.17.1 or later; earlier releases support 16000, so software selection affects scaling. Support for 984 SVIs and 1024 active VLANs sets limits for segmented configurations. WebUI, CLI and NETCONF/RESTCONF provide interactive and automated configuration paths. The IE9320 10 G mGig 4PPoE switch does not support PRP or HSR, so those redundancy requirements cannot be met by enabling a different license.
Order IE-9320-16P8U4X-A new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links and clean boot, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM warranty coverage is up to 3-year extended for new and up to 1 year for certified refurbished, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's five-year limited hardware warranty is a separate manufacturer term. Specify condition, quantity and required accessories on enterprise or volume POs; PO accepted, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US and MEA.

An existing SD-Access deployment expanding into industrial locations can use the switch as a Fabric Edge with support for 32 virtual networks. Segmentation requirements determine the fabric configuration independently of endpoint port assignments. Confirm the intended fabric role and relevant Catalyst Center entitlements before placing the purchase order.
Multi-site industrial rollouts that monitor enclosure conditions can connect four dry-contact alarm inputs and one Form-C relay output for tamper or temperature events. These connections provide physical alarm integration alongside Ethernet connectivity. Specify external alarm wiring and the required logging, SNMP trap or relay notification behavior before the PO.
Lab staging that requires removable configuration storage can use SD-IE-16GB= for the Swap Drive workflow. SD-IE-16GB= is optional and is not supplied by default, so a chassis order does not automatically include removable storage. Add SD-IE-16GB= to the purchase order when that recovery method is required.
PTP timing on multigigabit downlinks
The eight 2.5G downlinks do not support PTP. Timing-dependent endpoints require another supported interface; the multigigabit downlinks cannot provide that timing function.
PRP or HSR redundant networking
PRP and HSR are not supported on this model. IE-9320-22S2C4X-A supports those protocols but changes access connectivity to SFP and shared copper/fiber ports.
90W power on every downlink
Only eight downlinks support 90W; the other sixteen are PoE+ ports limited to 30W. A larger shared budget does not change those per-port limits.

IE-9320-16P8U4X-A identifies a stackable Catalyst IE9300 configuration: IE-9320 denotes the stackable family, 16P denotes sixteen Gigabit PoE+ downlinks, 8U denotes eight 2.5G 4PPoE downlinks, 4X denotes four 10G SFP+ uplinks, and -A denotes Network Advantage. The configuration combines mixed-speed copper access with fixed fiber uplink interfaces.
The Catalyst IE9300 Rugged supports WebUI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, local RJ-45 RS-232 and micro-USB console access, Cisco Catalyst Center, SNMP, and NETCONF/RESTCONF automation. Express Setup provides initial web-based configuration. The USB console takes input priority when both console connections are active, unless USB console access is disabled.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A includes perpetual Network Advantage and does not require a DNA subscription for base network operation. Optional Cisco Catalyst Center DNA Essentials and DNA Advantage subscriptions start at 3 years, with 5-year and 7-year options. DNA Advantage requires Network Advantage, and neither optional subscription replaces the perpetual network license.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A provides a shared 720W PoE budget with two PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 supplies, or 320W with one PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400. Sixteen downlinks support 30W PoE+, while eight support 90W 4PPoE. The shared budget does not permit every port to deliver its individual maximum simultaneously, so endpoint allocations must fit the selected configuration.
Stacking-capable Catalyst IE9300 Rugged IE9320 switches support four-member Cisco StackWise stacks through two built-in stacking interfaces per switch. Members must use matching license levels. CAB-STK-0.5M= and CAB-STK-1M= provide the physical connections; connecting the last member back to the first creates a full ring rather than an open chain.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A includes BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, OSPF and OSPFv3 through Network Advantage, alongside static routing, RIP and PBR. HSRP provides gateway redundancy, while PIM v2 supports multicast routing. Network Advantage also includes VRF-lite and the Network Essentials feature set, so the supplied license supports Layer 3 operation.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A has eight 4PPoE downlinks supporting 90W endpoints, whereas IE-9320-24P4X-A provides PoE+ on its copper downlinks. The remaining sixteen powered downlinks on the mixed model are PoE+. Choose the mixed configuration for higher-power endpoints; the all-PoE+ configuration suits endpoint inventories that do not require 4PPoE.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A includes Network Advantage, while IE-9320-16P8U4X-E includes Network Essentials. Network Advantage adds routing features including BGP, EIGRP and IS-IS; Network Essentials includes OSPF with a 1000-route limit. The -A model suits advanced routed or segmented deployments, while the -E model suits requirements covered by the base feature set.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, whereas IE-9320-24P4S-A provides four Gigabit SFP uplinks. Both use fixed uplink interfaces rather than removable network cards. The former suits access blocks requiring 10G upstream connections; the latter suits installations whose upstream connectivity remains within Gigabit uplink speeds.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A has no announced hardware end-of-sale date. Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE9300 Rugged. Individual Cisco IOS XE releases and removable storage accessories have separate lifecycle milestones; those notices do not establish an end-of-sale date for this switch chassis or name its hardware successor.
ORM Systems offers IE-9320-16P8U4X-A new sealed or certified refurbished. ORM warranties are up to 3-year extended for new and up to 1 year for certified refurbished; both conditions have 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate platform warranty is five-year limited hardware coverage. Refurbished managed units are firmware verified and wiped to factory default.
IE-9320-16P8U4X-A supports two internal hot-swappable power supplies, with the second optional for redundancy or increased PoE allocation. PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 accepts AC or high-voltage DC input; PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H supports low-voltage DC input. PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 cannot share load with PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H, PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250, so the power configuration must use compatible supplies.
No, IE-9320-16P8U4X-A does not support PTP on its eight 2.5G downlinks. Those interfaces remain available for Ethernet connectivity and endpoint power, but they cannot fulfill a PTP timing requirement. Timing-dependent endpoint placement therefore needs to account for the physical interface restriction rather than assuming every downlink supports identical timing functions.
