SF100D-05 is a fanless, unmanaged Layer 2 desktop switch with five 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 ports. Its copper-only configuration has no dedicated uplinks or network-module bay, and its Ethernet connections do not provide PoE. The Cisco Small Business 100 model connects computers, printers and other locally powered office equipment without configuration. A connection to the existing network uses one of the available Ethernet ports rather than a separate uplink interface. The discontinued SF100D-08 is the nearest non-PoE density comparison, providing eight Fast Ethernet ports instead of five. This desktop configuration is distinct from the larger switches elsewhere in the family.

1 Gbps switching capacity provides the switching fabric for the copper connections, while 0.74 Mpps forwarding performance describes operation with 64-byte packets. Traffic handling uses four hardware queues, priority queuing and weighted round-robin scheduling to distinguish traffic priorities automatically. SF100D-05 supports store-and-forward switching, which checks packets before forwarding and prevents damaged packets from passing through the network. IEEE 802.1p priority recognition supplies the class-of-service mechanism without administrative configuration. Head-of-line blocking prevention is included in the switching behavior. The five-port 10/100 desktop switch provides Ethernet connectivity rather than routed interfaces or configurable network policies; those requirements need different hardware. Its external power connection requires 12V DC, with a specified operating input of 500 mA.
Order SF100D-05 in new sealed or certified refurbished condition, and specify the required quantity, supplied adapter and delivery region on the PO. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, clean boot, and the supplied adapter delivering rated output. ORM's warranty is up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; returns are available for 30 days in every condition, with terms applying. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended December 31, 2020. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement.

When an existing installation requires an identical spare, specify SF100D-05 rather than treating a newer Ethernet switch as the same hardware. Keep the replacement order tied to the installed part number and intended condition. For distributed spare holdings, identify the required UK, EU, US or MEA delivery region before the PO.
When a workstation area needs additional wired connections, prepare Category 5 or better UTP patch cables alongside the hardware order. Automatic MDI/MDI-X accepts straight-through or crossover connections without selecting a dedicated crossover lead. Count endpoint cables and the connection to the existing network before specifying cable quantities on the PO.
Gigabit connections to every endpoint
SF100D-05 ports stop at 100 Mbps. CBS110-5T-D provides five Gigabit Ethernet ports in an unmanaged desktop configuration and is the current migration destination.
PoE-powered phones or access points
SF100D-05 does not supply power through its Ethernet ports. Connected phones, access points or other powered endpoints require their own power source or separately specified PoE equipment.
Configurable policies or routed interfaces
SF100D-05 operates without configuration and performs Layer 2 switching. Requirements for configurable network policies or routed interfaces cannot be fulfilled by this unmanaged unit.

SF100D-05 identifies a Cisco 100 Series Fast Ethernet desktop switch with five ports. The SF100 portion identifies the Fast Ethernet model family, D denotes the desktop configuration, and 05 denotes five Ethernet connections. The complete configuration is a five-port 10/100 desktop switch without PoE.
SF100D-05 operates without configuration because the switch is unmanaged. Connect power and Ethernet cables to begin operation; port speed and duplex are negotiated automatically. Traffic prioritization also operates automatically, so installation does not require an administrator to create a configuration before connecting office equipment.
SF100D-05 is discontinued, with end of sale on December 9, 2015, and Cisco support ending December 31, 2020. Manufacturer service has ended. CBS110-5T-D is the current migration destination, replacing the older Fast Ethernet configuration with a five-port Gigabit Ethernet desktop switch.
ORM Systems offers SF100D-05 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are available for 30 days in either condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended with support on December 31, 2020.
No, SF100D-05 does not supply PoE through its Ethernet ports. The connections carry network traffic but do not power attached phones, cameras or wireless access points. Any endpoint requiring electrical power must use its own power supply or separately specified power-injection equipment.
SF100D-05 requires an external adapter delivering 12V DC, with a specified operating input of 500 mA. The adapter connects separately from the Ethernet cables. When ordering replacement hardware, include the supplied adapter in the order requirements rather than assuming an existing adapter is suitable for reuse.
Yes, the Small Business 100 desktop switch supports wall mounting as an alternative to desktop placement. SF100D-05 measures 92.6 mm wide, 90.6 mm deep and 27 mm high, and weighs 0.22 kg. Specify the mounting hardware and confirm clearance for Ethernet cables and the external power connection.
SF100D-08P provides four PoE ports with a shared 33.12W budget, whereas SF100D-05 supplies no endpoint power. Both belong to the discontinued 100 Series. SF100D-05 suits replacement requirements without powered endpoints; the PoE model represents a different power requirement and is not a current-product alternative.
SF100D-08 has eight 10/100 Ethernet ports, while SF100D-05 has five. Both are discontinued non-PoE desktop models in the same family. The five-port unit fits an exact five-port replacement requirement; the eight-port configuration addresses a larger connection count but should not be treated as a current-product upgrade.
CBS110-5T-D provides five Gigabit Ethernet ports, whereas SF100D-05 provides five 10/100 ports. CBS110-5T-D is the current migration destination for the discontinued model. SF100D-05 addresses an exact legacy-hardware replacement; CBS110-5T-D addresses a new unmanaged desktop purchase requiring Gigabit connections rather than the older Fast Ethernet limit.
The Small Business 100 switch prioritizes traffic automatically using IEEE 802.1p class-of-service recognition, four hardware queues, priority queuing and weighted round-robin scheduling. SF100D-05 does not require an administrator to configure those mechanisms. This automatic handling differs from a managed switch with user-configurable traffic policies.
SF100D-05 provides 1 Gbps switching capacity and 0.74 Mpps forwarding performance measured with 64-byte packets. These are separate performance measures: switching capacity describes the fabric bandwidth, while forwarding performance describes packet handling. The Ethernet connections remain Fast Ethernet; the capacity figure does not indicate Gigabit endpoint ports.
