Fanless Access for Small Business Ethernet Networks

SF350-48-K9 is a fanless, Layer 2+ managed switch with 48 Fast Ethernet access ports and fixed Gigabit uplinks for small-business networks retaining 10/100 endpoints. Two dedicated SFP slots and two copper/SFP combo connections provide the uplink choices without a removable network module. The non-PoE, 1U rack-mount design connects separately powered computers, printers, and other wired devices rather than supplying endpoint power. Within the discontinued Cisco 350 Series, SF350-48P-K9 adds PoE+ with a 382W shared budget. Guest VLANs, private VLANs, and port-based segmentation let an administrator separate device groups within the same chassis.

Technical Details

17.6 Gbps switching capacity supports wire-speed, nonblocking operation, while 13.09 Mpps forwarding handles 64-byte packets. 990 static IPv4 routes support local inter-VLAN forwarding; PBR selects next hops using IPv4 or IPv6 access-control criteria. Routing is static rather than dynamic. SF350-48-K9 carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash, separating runtime memory from stored software and configuration. A shared 3 MB packet buffer serves all interfaces rather than allocating a dedicated buffer to each connection. STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP provide loop control and link aggregation. Browser-based configuration and SNMP monitoring complement DHCP server and relay functions, while IPv6 routing extends packet forwarding beyond IPv4. 24.2W maximum system consumption at 220V sets the electrical sizing figure, and the internal universal AC input removes the need for an external adapter. The embedded management interface offers simple and advanced views for configuring and monitoring the device.

Ordering

ORM Systems supplies SF350-48-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units, up to 1 year for refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, optics bay recognition, and PSU status; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify condition, regional ordering form, and optics on the PO. For enterprise and volume orders, POs are accepted, government Net-30 is available, and RMA includes advance replacement; regional stock and RMA coverage spans the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

Regional lifecycle and migration

Legacy replacement orders should retain the regional suffix because SF350-48-K9-NA, SF350-48-K9-EU, and SF350-48-K9-UK ended Cisco sales July 30, 2022. C1300-48T-4G is the current migration endpoint, beyond the discontinued CBS350 generation.

Fiber optics ordered separately

Fiber connections require separately ordered transceivers. MGBSX1 supports multimode links to 500 m, while MGBLX1 supports single-mode links to 10 km; match the optic, fiber type, and link distance on the purchase order.

Best For

Local Subnet Segmentation

When several departments need separate IP interfaces on the same device, the switch supports a ceiling of 128 IP interfaces across physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLANs, and loopback interfaces. Map the addressing plan and interface assignments before ordering, and check that the intended subnet layout fits that interface ceiling.

Predeployment Image Staging

When a rollout requires configuration and firmware staging before shipment, dual software images allow an alternate image to remain stored while the intended release is prepared. The front USB Type-A connection supports image and configuration transfer. Specify the required firmware state and preserve the staging files before approving the shipment.

Multi-Site Configuration Control

When several locations share a command-line configuration process, the scriptable Textview interface provides privilege levels 1, 7, and 15. Define which tasks belong to each administrator role and retain separate approved configurations for each site. Specify the access roles, configuration handoff, and staging requirements before issuing a multi-site purchase order.

Not Suitable If

Gigabit speed on every access port

The 48 access ports are limited to 10/100, despite Gigabit uplinks. C1300-48T-4G retains 48 access ports but raises those connections to Gigabit Ethernet.

PoE power for connected endpoints

SF350-48-K9 supplies no endpoint power. C1300-48P-4G provides 48 Gigabit PoE access ports, so the alternative also changes endpoint speed rather than just adding power.

Questions & Answers

What does the SF350-48-K9 part number identify?

SF350-48-K9 identifies a Cisco 350 Series managed Fast Ethernet switch; 48 refers to the access-port count. K9 is part of the base ordering identifier. Regional forms include SF350-48-K9-NA for North America, SF350-48-K9-EU, and SF350-48-K9-UK. These forms retain the same non-PoE access ports and fixed Gigabit uplink configuration.

How is SF350-48-K9 managed?

SF350-48-K9 is managed through an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, Textview CLI over the console, SSH or Telnet, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. Network-level options include Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager with an embedded probe, and Cisco Active Advisor integration. The web interface provides simple and advanced views with configuration wizards.

What is the lifecycle status of SF350-48-K9?

SF350-48-K9 is discontinued; its NA, EU, and UK forms reached end of sale July 30, 2022, with support ending July 31, 2027. The direct CBS350 replacement is also discontinued. C1300-48T-4G is the current migration endpoint for a refresh rather than a legacy spare.

What condition and warranty options does ORM Systems offer for SF350-48-K9?

ORM Systems offers SF350-48-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are available for 30 days in every condition; terms apply. Cisco's limited lifetime hardware warranty for NA/EU/UK forms ends with support on July 31, 2027.

Which older switch does SF350-48-K9 replace?

SF350-48-K9 replaced the discontinued SF300-48 sold as SRW248G4-K9-AR, SRW248G4-K9-BR, SRW248G4-K9-CN, SRW248G4-K9-EU, SRW248G4-K9-NA, SRW248G4-K9-UK, and SRW248G4-K9-AU. These regional predecessors also provided 48 Fast Ethernet ports with Gigabit uplinks. A replacement purchase should distinguish retaining legacy endpoint speed from moving to the current Gigabit migration option.

How many uplinks does SF350-48-K9 have?

SF350-48-K9 supports four 1G uplinks: two dedicated SFP slots and two copper/SFP combo connections. Each combo pair permits only one active medium, so the copper connectors do not add independent links beyond those four uplinks. MGBSX1 and MGBLX1 provide multimode and single-mode fiber options, respectively.

What routing capabilities does SF350-48-K9 provide?

SF350-48-K9 provides static IPv4 routing for up to 990 routes and 128 IP interfaces, plus PBR and IPv6 routing. The Layer 2+ configuration supports inter-VLAN forwarding without requiring an external router for every local subnet. Size routing entries separately from VLAN count, and specify external routing where a dynamic routing protocol is required.

Can SF350-48-K9 form a hardware stack?

SF350-48-K9 does not form a hardware stack; each chassis retains its own switching resources and configuration. Smart Network Application can monitor and manage multiple switches, but that grouping does not create a shared forwarding system. Do not specify stacking cables or a stacking kit for this model.

Does the Cisco SF350-48 fit a standard equipment rack?

The Cisco SF350-48 fits a full-width equipment rack as a 1U unit. Its chassis measures 440 mm wide, 44 mm high, and 257 mm deep, and weighs 3.58 kg. The standard package includes a mounting kit. Confirm available depth and cable clearance before assigning the rack position.

What is the difference between SF350-48-K9 and SF350-48P-K9?

SF350-48-K9 provides data connections without endpoint power, whereas SF350-48P-K9 adds PoE+ with a shared 382W budget. Both models are discontinued, and their access ports remain Fast Ethernet. Legacy installations with separately powered endpoints match the former; spare requirements for powered devices distinguish the latter.

What is the difference between SF350-48-K9 and SF350-24-K9?

SF350-48-K9 has 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, while SF350-24-K9 has 24; both carry the same fixed Gigabit uplink arrangement. Both models are discontinued. For legacy spare purchases, the 48-port model preserves a larger endpoint count, whereas the 24-port model matches a smaller existing deployment.

What is the difference between SF350-48-K9 and C1300-48T-4G?

C1300-48T-4G changes the 48 access ports from SF350-48-K9's Fast Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet. The SF350 model is discontinued, and the current migration path passes beyond the discontinued CBS350 generation. Keep the older model for like-for-like spares; specify the current model when endpoint speed is part of the refresh.

How much power does SF350-48-K9 draw?

SF350-48-K9 consumes a maximum of 24.2W at 220V AC, with 23.4W specified at 110V AC. The internal universal AC supply accepts 100-240V at 50-60 Hz, and the chassis does not provide a redundant power supply option. There is no PoE load to include in the switch's system power figure.

What operating conditions does the Cisco SF350-48 require?

The Cisco SF350-48 operates from 0°C to 50°C with 10% to 90% noncondensing relative humidity. Safety and regulatory markings include UL 60950, CSA 22.2, CE, and FCC Part 15 Class A. MTBF is 277653 hours at 40°C, which is a reliability statistic rather than a promised operating lifetime.
