Powered Connectivity for Small Business Access Networks

SG220-26P-K9 is a Layer 2 smart managed access switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ access ports and two fixed Gigabit combo uplinks. Each uplink supports either its RJ-45 connection or its SFP connection, with one medium active at a time. The 1U rack-mount chassis belongs to the Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches family and connects small-business workstations, IP phones, and wireless access points. Power comes from an internal AC supply. Port-based and tagged VLANs separate network traffic, while automatic voice VLAN assignment handles connected phones. The discontinued SG220-26-K9-NA sibling omits endpoint power delivery. IPv4 and IPv6 management coexist, allowing the switch to remain accessible while an organization changes its management addressing.

SG220-26P-K9 price for new stock is $651.00, a 34.8% saving from the Cisco list price of $998.15. SG220-26P-K9 refurb price is $346.50. SG220-26P-K9 is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

Technical Details

52 Gbps switching capacity supports traffic across the access and uplink interfaces. 38.69 Mpps forwarding applies to 64-byte packets, keeping the packet-rate figure distinct from aggregate bandwidth. 180W of shared PoE capacity requires allocation across powered endpoints rather than assuming every port can operate at its individual maximum simultaneously. STP/RSTP/MSTP manage Layer 2 paths, and LACP supports aggregated Ethernet links. SG220-26P-K9 combines 128 MB of memory, 32 MB of flash, and a dynamically shared 4.1 Mb packet buffer. Eight hardware queues per port support traffic prioritization, while access control lists filter or rate-limit selected traffic. HTTPS and SSH protect management sessions, and SNMPv3 supports authenticated monitoring. Inter-VLAN routing requires a separate routing device. Two speed-controlled fans provide active cooling, so the chassis is not fanless. 206.5W power consumption at 110V AC provides the switch-and-PoE figure for AC feed planning, rather than treating the endpoint power allocation as total input consumption.

Ordering

SG220-26P-K9 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, including rated-speed port links and PoE output under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty is bounded by service ending July 31, 2027. Specify condition, quantity, and regional accessories before submitting the PO; enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

Best For

Endpoint Power Sizing

When replacing separately powered phones or wireless access points, each endpoint must fit the 30W per-port limit before aggregate demand is considered. CDP and LLDP support granular power negotiation with connected devices. Prepare an endpoint-by-endpoint power schedule before specifying the purchase quantity.

Repeated Branch Configurations

For branch orders that repeat an established configuration, text-editable configuration files can be transferred between switches rather than recreated through individual screens. CLI privilege levels 1 and 15 support separate access roles. Specify the configuration template and administrator access requirements before releasing the purchase order.

Replacement Hardware Staging

Before replacement hardware enters an existing network, dual firmware images provide separate stored images, while a mirror configuration file preserves a configuration copy. A staging plan can therefore distinguish image validation from configuration recovery testing. Specify the intended firmware image and configuration recovery procedure before the purchase order.

Not Suitable If

10G uplinks to distribution

SG220-26P-K9 supports Gigabit copper or SFP uplinks only; the fixed interfaces cannot be upgraded to 10G, and the chassis has no removable uplink-card bay.

Inter-VLAN routing on the switch

SG220-26P-K9 provides Layer 2 switching rather than inter-VLAN routing. Traffic between VLANs needs a separate router or Layer 3 switch in the network design.

Cisco support beyond July 2027

Cisco support for SG220-26P-K9 ends July 31, 2027. CBS220-24P-4G-NA is the current replacement for purchases that should not extend the discontinued installed base.

Questions & Answers

What does the SG220-26P-K9 part number mean?

SG220-26P-K9 identifies a 220 Series Gigabit PoE+ smart switch: SG220 names the Gigabit model group, 26 covers 24 access ports plus two combo uplinks, and P identifies powered ports. Complete regional ordering forms retain K9 and add a suffix, including SG220-26P-K9-NA for the United States.

How are Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches managed?

Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches support an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, a full CLI using SSH or Telnet, SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3, and FindIT Network Manager and Probe. Browser configuration, command-based administration, and remote monitoring provide distinct management paths that administrators can select for their operating procedures.

Is SG220-26P-K9 discontinued?

SG220-26P-K9 is discontinued, with end of sale on July 30, 2022, and last support on July 31, 2027. Software maintenance ended July 30, 2023. Remaining Cisco service depends on applicable entitlement, and the support deadline remains fixed even when hardware is purchased later through a reseller.

What condition and warranty options does ORM offer for SG220-26P-K9?

SG220-26P-K9 is offered by ORM new sealed or certified refurbished, with an up to 3-year extended warranty for new units or up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty is bounded by service ending July 31, 2027.

How much PoE power does SG220-26P-K9 provide?

SG220-26P-K9 provides a shared 180W PoE budget across 24 powered access ports, with PoE+ capability reaching 30W per port. The individual port maximum is not a simultaneous allocation for every connection. Size the connected endpoint mix against the shared budget before deciding how many devices to attach.

Which uplinks and fiber optics does SG220-26P-K9 support?

SG220-26P-K9 has two fixed 1G combo uplinks, each sharing an RJ-45 connection with an SFP slot. Only one medium operates in each pair. Compatible fiber options include MGBSX1 for multimode connections and MGBLX1 for single-mode connections; the uplink interfaces do not support 10G SFP+ operation.

Can Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches route between VLANs?

Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches provide Layer 2 VLAN switching, not inter-VLAN routing. A separate routing device must carry traffic between VLANs. IPv4 and IPv6 management support does not turn the switch into a routed access device, so gateway placement remains part of the surrounding network design.

What is the difference between SG220-26P-K9 and SG220-26-K9-NA?

SG220-26P-K9 supplies PoE+ endpoint power, whereas SG220-26-K9-NA does not provide PoE. Both models are discontinued. For legacy replacement requirements, the powered model serves connections that need switch-delivered electricity; the non-PoE model suits devices that already have their own power supplies and need only Ethernet connectivity.

What is the difference between SG220-26P-K9 and SG220-28MP-K9-NA?

SG220-26P-K9 has two Gigabit RJ-45/SFP combo uplinks, while SG220-28MP-K9-NA has four dedicated Gigabit SFP uplinks. Both are discontinued. For legacy sparing, the former preserves a copper-or-fiber uplink arrangement; the latter fits an installed configuration that requires four separate fiber uplink connections without shared copper interfaces.

What is the difference between SG220-26P-K9 and CBS220-24P-4G-NA?

SG220-26P-K9 is discontinued, while CBS220-24P-4G-NA is its current replacement in the available Cisco Business 220 family. The replacement carries 24 Gigabit PoE access ports and four Gigabit SFP uplinks. Existing-unit sparing may require the older hardware; a migration purchase should specify the current replacement instead.
