C9300X-12Y-E provides twelve fixed 25G/10G/1G SFP28 fiber access ports in a Layer 3 enterprise access switch. An empty modular uplink bay accepts C9300X-NM-8Y, C9300X-NM-2C or C9300X-NM-8M, allowing the upstream connection layout to be specified separately from the access ports. The non-PoE, rack-mount 1U configuration belongs to the Catalyst 9300X family and includes Network Essentials for routed access. Fiber-connected endpoints and downstream switches receive data connectivity rather than power through these access interfaces. C9300X-12Y-A retains the same fixed access-port arrangement but supplies Network Advantage instead. Within the Catalyst 9000 family, this configuration addresses optical access connections rather than a copper endpoint wiring plan. The hardware selection therefore starts with the required fiber connection count and the routing features that must be enabled at delivery.
C9300X-12Y-E price for new stock is $7,869.75, a 62.5% saving from the Cisco list price of $20,960.00. C9300X-12Y-E refurb price is $7,134.75. C9300X-12Y-E is in stock and available for free next-day delivery. (terms applied)

1000 Gbps switching capacity provides the fabric bandwidth for the fiber access configuration. 744.04 Mpps forwarding supports standalone packet processing across the installed interfaces. OSPF supports up to 1000 routes under the included tier, with static routing, RIP, EIGRP Stub, PBR, VRRP and PIM Stub available for routed access. BGP, full EIGRP and IS-IS are not included. C9300X-12Y-E uses 16 GB DRAM and 16 GB flash for runtime operation and software storage. The UADP 2.0sec ASIC handles forwarding, while a 16 MB packet buffer holds queued traffic. Hardware IPv4 capacity reaches 39000 routes, including ARP and learned routes, independently of the OSPF license limit. Sampled NetFlow, SPAN and RSPAN support traffic visibility without adding an advanced-routing tier. 137.6W under full-traffic testing at 115V AC without an uplink module provides a base-configuration reference for rack power planning. Three FAN-T2= fan modules provide N+1 cooling redundancy.
ORM Systems offers C9300X-12Y-E new sealed or certified refurbished; ORM coverage is up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, optics and module bay recognition, stack adapter negotiation, PSU and fan status; firmware is verified and configurations wiped to factory default. Specify condition, quantity and accessories on the PO, keeping Cisco's separate original-owner Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty and five-year discontinuance support limit distinct from ORM coverage. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, government Net-30, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock/RMA in the UK, EU, US and MEA.

C9300X-12Y-E operates at the high-speed fiber access layer where 12 fixed SFP28 ports terminate 25G, 10G, or 1G optical links from downstream devices or local aggregation points. Engineers select the C9300X network module that matches upstream capacity, then stage VLANs, routed interfaces, and monitoring through IOS XE. Network Essentials aligns the switch with Cisco base network-tier deployments and subscription planning. StackWise-1T groups compatible Catalyst 9300X members under one management plane as the access block expands. The deployment consolidates high-speed fiber links into a managed Catalyst stack.
C9300X-12Y-E sits between high-speed fiber access areas and the distribution layer when a site needs SFP28 density with modular uplink selection. The 12 SFP28 ports handle 25G, 10G, or 1G optical circuits, while the chosen uplink module defines the upstream handoff, including 25G, 40G, or 100G options. Network teams validate optics, VLAN trunks, routing adjacencies, and StackWise membership before production use. The topology gains a clear optical handoff point with predictable port roles and Catalyst operational controls for daily operations.
C9300X-12Y-E supports stacked fiber aggregation where multiple Catalyst 9300X members operate with StackWise-1T and the same license level. Engineers combine SFP28 access links across stack members, reserve modular uplinks for distribution or core connections, and apply shared management through the stack control plane. The non-PoE fiber design keeps endpoint power planning separate from switching capacity and optic selection. Certified refurbished units receive SFP28, uplink-module, fan, power, and boot validation before dispatch. The result is a scalable fiber aggregation block for enterprise refresh cycles.
When refreshing a discontinued WS-C3850-16XS-S, the original 16-port connection plan needs revision rather than a simple chassis substitution. Inventory occupied fiber links and distinguish endpoint connections from uplinks. Check which circuits can move, verify the existing routing requirements, and specify the revised optical connection plan before the PO.
When rolling out equipment to unheated branch rooms, distinguish operating temperature from startup conditions: a cold start requires at least 0°C ambient. Include staging and room readiness in the installation plan rather than assuming powered-off equipment starts throughout its operating range. Confirm the startup environment before finalizing shipment and installation dates.
When staging configurations before a production purchase, base and add-on licenses offer a 90-day evaluation period. An expired evaluation cannot be reactivated by reloading the switch. Keep temporary feature testing separate from the production entitlement plan, and specify the purchased license level and subscription term before releasing the PO.
PoE power for copper endpoints
C9300X-12Y-E provides fiber data access without PoE. C9300X-24HX-E supplies 24 Multigigabit copper UPOE+ ports, changing both the physical interface and port density.
BGP or full dynamic routing
Network Essentials excludes BGP, full EIGRP and IS-IS. C9300X-12Y-A supplies Network Advantage on the same fiber hardware for those routing requirements.
Four dedicated 100G uplink ports
C9300X-12Y-E does not accept C9300X-NM-4C. C9300X-24Y-E accepts C9300X-NM-4C and changes the fixed fiber access-port count from 12 to 24.

In C9300X-12Y-E, C9300X identifies the Catalyst 9300X family, 12 denotes twelve access ports, Y indicates 25G/10G/1G SFP28 fiber ports, and E selects Network Essentials. Uplinks are modular rather than identified by a fixed-uplink segment. The network license tier is part of the hardware ordering identity.
The Catalyst 9300X supports console CLI, SSH, WebUI, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3, Cisco Catalyst Center and Meraki dashboard management. Local WebUI comes with the default image. Catalyst Center and cloud management depend on the selected software entitlement and operating mode, so the management arrangement must be specified alongside the hardware configuration.
C9300X-12Y-E has no announced hardware end-of-sale date. Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 9300X. Software releases and subscriptions have separate lifecycle schedules. A hardware lifecycle decision should distinguish the chassis from the software entitlement and the release running on the installed equipment.
C9300X-12Y-E is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties up to 3 years extended for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are 30 days for either condition, terms apply. Cisco's separate Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty covers original customer ownership, with support limited to five years after discontinuance.
C9300X-12Y-E includes Network Essentials; Cisco DNA Essentials or Cisco Catalyst Essentials requires at least three years. Advantage subscriptions require Network Advantage. Cisco Networking Subscription offers Cisco Switching Essentials or Advantage with a 36-month minimum. Meraki migration uses Enterprise or Advanced, minimum one year. New hardware orders require software selection separately.
The Catalyst 9300X can continue with its perpetual Network Essentials capabilities after a Cisco DNA add-on expires, provided the add-on is deactivated and the switch reloaded. Renewal retains the subscription features. New hardware orders require a Smart Account for entitlement handling, and hardware condition does not identify an active subscription.
C9300X-12Y-E uses C9300X-12Y hardware, the replacement for discontinued WS-C3850-12XS-E, WS-C3850-12XS-S, WS-C3850-16XS-E, WS-C3850-16XS-S, C1-WS3850-12XS-S, C3850-12XS-E++, C3850-12XS-S++ and C3850-16XS-S++. Their end-of-sale date was April 30, 2022, and support ends April 30, 2027. Network Essentials does not guarantee feature equivalence with an older IP Services installation.
C9300X-12Y-E accepts C9300X-NM-8Y for eight 25G/10G/1G ports, C9300X-NM-2C for two 100G/40G ports, or C9300X-NM-8M for eight Multigigabit copper ports. The base configuration leaves the uplink bay empty. Modules and compatible optics must be specified separately, and C9300X-NM-4C is not supported on this model.
StackWise-1T stacks eight Catalyst 9300X members with matching license levels. STACK-T1-50CM, STACK-T1-1M and STACK-T1-3M provide the data-stack cable options. Mixed stacking with standard Catalyst 9300 members uses 480 Gbps, not 1 Tbps. Catalyst 9300L, Catalyst 9300LM and higher-scale Catalyst 9300 models cannot join that stack.
Yes, C9300X-12Y-E supports OSPF for up to 1000 routes under Network Essentials, but BGP requires Network Advantage. The included tier also supports static routing, RIP, EIGRP Stub, PBR, VRRP and PIM Stub multicast. PIM Stub has a separate 1000-route limit; hardware IPv4 scale does not remove either license restriction.
No, C9300X-12Y-E includes one PWR-C1-715WAC-P power supply, with a second internal supply optional. A second PWR-C1-715WAC-P can be specified when redundant internal power is required. The 715W rating describes supply output capacity, not chassis power consumption; the base configuration draws 137.6W under full-traffic testing at 115V AC.
Cisco C9300X-12Y-E uses one rack unit, with a 44 mm height, 445 mm width and 447 mm depth including the default power supply. Weight with that supply is 6.8 kg. For cabinet planning, allow additional clearance beyond the chassis dimensions for power connections, fiber bends and rear access.
C9300X-12Y-A includes Network Advantage, whereas C9300X-12Y-E includes Network Essentials. Network Advantage enables BGP, full EIGRP and IS-IS that the Essentials tier excludes. Both are 12-port fiber configurations with modular uplinks. The Essentials model suits routed access within its limits; the Advantage model suits purchases requiring advanced routing.
C9300X-24HX-E supplies UPOE+ endpoint power, while C9300X-12Y-E provides data-only fiber access. The powered model uses 24 Multigigabit copper access ports, so the physical connection plan also changes. Fiber-connected data links call for the fiber model; powered copper endpoints call for the UPOE+ configuration rather than this optical access configuration.
C9300X-24Y-E supplies 24 fixed 25G/10G/1G SFP28 access ports, compared with 12 on C9300X-12Y-E. Both configurations include Network Essentials and modular uplinks. The twelve-port model suits an optical connection plan that fits its access density; the twenty-four-port model suits a purchase requiring more fixed fiber connections in one chassis.
