Eight slots accommodate line cards, while two accommodate supervisor engines. The Cisco C9610 Series Smart Switches use separately selected forwarding hardware, so the chassis PID does not establish a fixed Ethernet port configuration or an included software entitlement. An operational purchase requires a complete component configuration rather than the enclosure alone. Technical Details
Front-to-back airflow determines how the chassis should face the rack’s cooling arrangement, and rear access must remain available for fan servicing. Each C9610-FAN assembly contains six independently controlled fans. C9610R accepts C9610-SUP-3 or C9610-SUP-3XL; processing silicon, memory, forwarding performance and route scale depend on the selected supervisor rather than the enclosure alone. Cisco IOS XE runs on the configured system. Electrical consumption also depends on the installed supervisors, line cards and power supplies, so a power supply’s output rating must not be treated as chassis draw. Size the electrical configuration against the complete installed component inventory.

Specify C9610R in new sealed or certified refurbished condition, with every included component itemized on the PO. Certified refurbished chassis are inspected and bench-tested with module bay recognition verified; when ordered as a managed configuration, firmware is also verified and the configuration wiped to factory default.
