MS120-48FP-HW is a 48-port cloud-managed Layer 2 access switch with 1GbE RJ-45 downlinks, PoE+ on every access port, and four fixed 1G SFP uplinks for aggregation or fiber handoff. The Meraki MS120-48FP fits 1U branch and campus wiring closets that need dashboard-controlled switching and a larger PoE reserve for access points, cameras, phones and other powered endpoints. Cisco Meraki MS120 Series virtual stacking groups ports for centralized administration, but the hardware does not form a physical switching stack. Compared with MS120-48LP-HW, the Meraki MS120-48FP keeps the same 48-port layout and fixed uplink class while raising the PoE budget from 370W to 740W.
MS120-48FP-HW price for new stock is $601.65, a 50% saving from the Cisco list price of $1,203.30. MS120-48FP-HW refurb price is $432.18. MS120-48FP-HW is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

104 Gbps switching capacity and 77.38 Mpps forwarding support the 48-port Gigabit access design without relying on oversubscription math in the bill of materials. 740W of shared PoE power must be sized against the endpoint mix, because 48 PoE+ ports can request more than the available chassis budget at full class. MS120-48FP-HW supports 32000 MAC entries, 802.1Q VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP, LLDP/CDP discovery, IGMP snooping, DHCP relay, IPv4 ACLs and dashboard cable testing. Meraki web management replaces switch CLI provisioning, with SNMP and Syslog available for monitoring integration. The platform uses a Meraki Enterprise license; LIC-MS120-48FP-1YR is the one-year path, and longer 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-year terms align coverage to the deployment horizon.
MS120-48FP-HW can be ordered new sealed or certified refurbished, depending on shelf availability and lifecycle planning. Certified refurbished managed units are inspected and bench-tested, firmware verified, wiped to factory default, checked for power-on and POST, every port link at rated speed, PoE output under load, optics bay recognition, PSU status and fan status. Add the Meraki Enterprise license term and any MA-SFP-1GB-TX, MA-SFP-1GB-SX or MA-SFP-1GB-LX10 optics to the same PO when needed. New hardware carries up to a 3-year ORM extended warranty, certified refurbished carries up to 1 year, returns are 30 days on every condition, terms apply, and PO, government Net-30, RMA with advance replacement, UK, EU, US and MEA stock/RMA options support volume orders.

A branch wiring closet with existing Gigabit copper runs can standardize on 48 access ports and four 1G SFP uplinks without adding a modular uplink card. Before the PO, specify the rack location, uplink optic PIDs and the Meraki Enterprise license term that matches the support window.
A mixed endpoint floor with phones, cameras and access points should be checked against the 740W shared PoE budget before all 48 powered ports are filled. Order the switch with a port-by-port load estimate, leaving headroom for devices that reserve higher PoE+ classes.
A multi-site Meraki deployment can pre-stage switch configuration in the dashboard and ship hardware to remote locations for local cabling. Add LIC-MS120-48FP-1YR or the selected longer Enterprise term to each hardware line so management and support activate with the device.
10G uplinks to distribution
Four fixed uplinks run at 1G SFP speeds. Use MS130-48X-HW when the access layer needs fixed 10G SFP+ uplinks with current hardware.
Physical switch stacking
Virtual stacking is for dashboard administration only and does not create a physical forwarding stack. Use MS150-48FP-4X where the order requires physical stacking.
Advanced Layer 3 routing
Routing capability is limited to DHCP relay on the Meraki MS120 family. Choose a Layer 3 access platform when routed VLAN interfaces or dynamic routing are required.
Redundant power supply
The chassis uses an internal power supply and has no documented external RPS or dual-supply option. Use MS210-48FP-HW if optional RPS support is required.

MS120-48FP-HW identifies Meraki MS120 hardware for a 48-port Gigabit Layer 2 cloud-managed switch with 740W PoE. MS120 is the switch family, 48FP marks the 48-port full-PoE configuration, and HW identifies the hardware appliance rather than a license.
MS120-48FP-HW is managed through the Meraki web dashboard, with SNMP and Syslog available for monitoring integration. Alerts can use email, SMS or mobile push paths. Traditional CLI configuration over SSH or Telnet is not the management model for this Meraki switch.
MS120-48FP-HW is end-of-sale, with Cisco channel ordering ended on 28 March 2025 and support running until 28 March 2030. The named current replacement is MS130-48P-HW, so new standardization projects should compare that model before using remaining MS120 inventory.
MS120-48FP-HW is offered by ORM Systems as new sealed or certified refurbished hardware. New units can carry up to a 3-year ORM extended warranty, and certified refurbished units can carry up to 1 year. Cisco coverage is limited by the 28 March 2030 support end date.
MS120-48FP-HW uses the Meraki Enterprise license and support path, with LIC-MS120-48FP-1YR as the minimum one-year term. The same model also has 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-year Enterprise terms, so the hardware PO should not be separated from the cloud license.
MS120-48FP-HW was named as the replacement for MS220-48FP-HW. That makes it a like-for-like search target when replacing legacy 48-port Meraki PoE access switches, but the MS120 model itself is now end-of-sale and should be checked against current availability.
MS120-48FP-HW provides a 740W shared PoE budget across 48 PoE+ access ports. The budget is not the same as 48 ports simultaneously drawing the PoE+ maximum, so endpoint class reservations and measured loads should be reviewed before filling every powered port.
MS120-48FP-HW has four fixed 1G SFP uplinks. The SFP cages can use compatible 1G modules such as MA-SFP-1GB-TX, MA-SFP-1GB-SX or MA-SFP-1GB-LX10, ordered separately when the deployment needs copper SFP, short-reach fiber or 10 km fiber handoff.
MS120-48FP-HW cannot be physically stacked. The Meraki MS120 family supports virtual stacking for dashboard-based administration, which groups ports for management but does not add stacking bandwidth or create a single physical forwarding stack between switches.
MS120-48FP-HW provides a 740W PoE budget where MS120-48LP-HW provides 370W. Both are 48-port Meraki MS120 access switches with four fixed 1G SFP uplinks, so the higher-power model fits denser powered-endpoint closets while the LP model fits lighter PoE loads.
MS120-48FP-HW carries 48 Gigabit access ports, while MS120-24P-HW carries 24. The 48-port model suits a fuller wiring closet or consolidation project; the 24-port model suits a smaller branch closet where half the copper density is enough.
MS130-48P-HW is the current replacement path, while MS120-48FP-HW is end-of-sale. Both sit in the Meraki cloud-managed access family, but the MS130 model is the better fit for new standards, and the MS120 model fits installed-base sparing or controlled refreshes.
