SG250-08-K9 is a fanless, Layer 2+ Smart Managed desktop switch with eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports for small-business access networks. Copper connections serve both endpoints and the upstream network; the chassis has no separate uplink bank, SFP cages, or removable network-module bay. The Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches support VLAN segmentation and traffic prioritization for business data, voice, and wireless connections. Endpoint power must come from separate sources because this model receives, rather than supplies, PoE. Port 8 accepts upstream PoE or PoE+ power, and an external AC adapter provides the other input option. The discontinued SG250-08HP-K9-NA differs by delivering PoE+ to attached devices. A Cisco SG250-08 therefore belongs on an order for copper-only access with separately powered endpoints.

16 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking forwarding across the copper interfaces. 11.9 Mpps forwarding at 64-byte packet sizes establishes the packet-processing limit for traffic sizing. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces for local inter-VLAN communication, with interfaces available on physical ports, LAGs, VLAN interfaces, and loopbacks. SG250-08-K9 carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash, while a dynamically shared 12 Mb packet buffer handles bursts across its ports. STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP provide loop-control and link-aggregation functions. An 8000-entry MAC table bounds learned addresses. Management includes a browser interface, Textview CLI, and SNMP rather than an unmanaged operating model. IGMP snooping limits multicast delivery to subscribed receivers. 7.6W worst-case system consumption supports power planning without an endpoint PoE load. Physical stacking is not supported; network-level management does not combine the switches into a hardware stack.
ORM Systems offers SG250-08-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units, up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, a clean boot, PoE-powered startup, and rated adapter output; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify this switch’s condition, regional power requirements, and quantity on the purchase order. Enterprise and volume orders can use PO acceptance, government Net-30 terms, and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA coverage across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When multiple small-business sites need the same configuration, the switch supports text-editable configuration files and automatic SCP downloads, with DHCP options 66 and 67 available for provisioning. Include the common configuration and bootstrap services in the rollout plan; confirm server reachability and configuration delivery before issuing the purchase order.
When a lab must validate an existing network before a replacement order, port mirroring can copy four source ports to one destination, and VLAN mirroring can copy four source VLANs. Jumbo frames reach 9K bytes. Reserve the analyzer connection and confirm the required frame-size settings before specifying the staging quantity.
PoE output for phones or cameras
SG250-08-K9 supplies no PoE to attached devices. Phones, cameras, and access points therefore require separate power sources; its PoE-capable connection is an input only.
Dedicated fiber or 10G uplinks
SG250-08-K9 has no SFP cages, dedicated fiber uplinks, or 10G ports. Its copper network connection shares the existing port count; removable uplink cards cannot add these capabilities.
Cisco support beyond July 2027
SG250-08-K9 reaches its last Cisco support date on July 31, 2027. C1200-8T-D is the current successor after the also-discontinued CBS250-8T-D-NA.

SG250-08-K9 identifies the Cisco SG250-08, an eight-port Gigabit Smart Switch with PoE+ input on port 8. SG250 names the Gigabit 250 family, and 08 denotes eight ports. SG250-08-K9-NA is the regional form for the United States; the final regional suffix selects the country or region rather than a software tier.
SG250-08-K9 supports HTTP/HTTPS web management, Textview CLI over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. Network-level options include Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager with an embedded FindIT Network Probe, the FindIT Network Discovery Utility, and Cisco Active Advisor. Cisco Network Plug and Play supports provisioning through Cisco PnP Connect.
Yes, SG250-08-K9 can receive 802.3af PoE or 802.3at PoE+ through port 8, or operate from its external AC adapter. AC power takes priority when present, and PoE can act as the alternate source. Receiving PoE does not provide PoE output or pass-through power to attached endpoints.
SG250-08-K9 has no dedicated uplink ports, fiber cages, or expansion bays; network uplinks use its existing Gigabit RJ-45 connections. A network-facing copper link therefore occupies one of the eight ports. SFP optics and removable uplink cards cannot be added to create fiber or 10G connections.
SG250-08-K9 supports 32 static IPv4 routes and 16 IP interfaces for communication between local networks. Interfaces may be physical ports, LAGs, VLAN interfaces, or loopbacks. The routing scope is static rather than dynamic route exchange; size the required routes and interfaces before specifying this switch for routed access.
Cisco SG250-08 supports desktop placement and wall mounting, not standard rack mounting. The chassis measures 160 mm wide, 30 mm high, and 128 mm deep, and weighs 0.54 kg. Specify the mounting arrangement and verify mounting hardware with the order rather than treating the unit as a 19-inch rack switch.
SG250-08-K9 is discontinued: end of sale was July 30, 2022, and the last Cisco support date is July 31, 2027. Software maintenance ended July 30, 2023. The immediate replacement, CBS250-8T-D-NA, is also discontinued; C1200-8T-D is the current endpoint of the replacement chain.
SG250-08-K9 replaces the discontinued SG200-08 regional models SLM2008T-AU, SLM2008T-CN, SLM2008T-EU, SLM2008T-JP, SLM2008T-NA, and SLM2008T-UK. Each maps to the corresponding SG250-08 regional form. Existing installations should retain their regional power arrangements when specifying replacement stock, and account for the SG250-08 generation’s own discontinued status.
ORM offers SG250-08-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Every condition has 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco’s limited lifetime hardware warranty is separate, with 1-year power-supply coverage; Cisco service ends July 31, 2027.
SG250-08HP-K9-NA provides PoE+ output on eight ports with a shared 45W budget, whereas SG250-08-K9 provides no endpoint power. The powered model permits 30W on an individual port within that total. Both are discontinued: SG250-08-K9 matches separately powered legacy endpoints, while SG250-08HP-K9-NA matches legacy installations requiring endpoint power.
SG250-10P-K9 adds two Gigabit copper/SFP combo connections beyond its eight access ports; SG250-08-K9 has eight copper ports without separate uplinks. Each combo connection uses either copper or SFP, not both simultaneously. Both models are discontinued: the former matches legacy fiber-uplink layouts, while SG250-08-K9 matches copper-only layouts.
C1200-8T-D is the current successor to discontinued SG250-08-K9 after the also-discontinued CBS250-8T-D-NA. C1200-8T-D retains an eight-port Gigabit desktop configuration with external power and PoE input. SG250-08-K9 serves exact-model legacy replacement needs, while C1200-8T-D is the model to evaluate for a current-generation purchase rather than another discontinued generation.
Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches support 512 ACL rules, port security, RADIUS, and 802.1X authentication. ACLs can filter or rate-limit traffic using source and destination MAC addresses, IP addresses, protocols, and ports. Rules can apply on ingress or egress, with time-based ACLs available for scheduled policies.
SG250-08-K9 provides 16 Gbps switching capacity and 11.9 Mpps forwarding for 64-byte packets. Its 12 Mb packet buffer is dynamically shared across ports, and the MAC table holds 8000 addresses. These figures describe forwarding and buffering limits separately; traffic sizing should consider both packet size and burst behavior.
Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches support STP, RSTP, MSTP, LACP, and IGMP snooping for loop control, link aggregation, and multicast filtering. The switches support 255 active VLANs and eight hardware queues for traffic separation and prioritization. These capabilities operate alongside static routing rather than a hardware stacking system.
