C-NIM-2T is a Cisco 2-port 100-Mbps/1-Gbps WAN Network Interface Module with RJ-45/SFP combo groups for Catalyst 8300. Two RJ-45/SFP combo groups let each group use copper or fiber, with one port from each group active at a time. Catalyst 8200 and 8200L take it too. Cisco Catalyst 8300 Network Interface Module builds use a front NIM slot, or an SM-X slot through C-SM-NIM-ADPT on Catalyst 8300. The module terminates routed Layer 3 Ethernet WAN handoffs from external switches. C-NIM-1M gives one 1/2.5-Gbps RJ-45 port with 90W UPOE; this 2-port dual-mode GE/SFP NIM gives two active media-selectable groups.

1 Gbps per port is the highest rated speed, and each RJ-45 side runs 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T. SFP sides run 100BASE-FX or 1000BASE-X with Cisco transceivers. 256-bit WAN MACsec is the module feature to match with the software release. C-NIM-2T needs Cisco IOS XE 17.6.1. Direct NIM slots allow online insertion, not online removal. Full OIR applies when the NIM is installed in C-SM-NIM-ADPT. C8300-2N2S models take two native NIM slots and six NIMs with carrier adapters. C8300-1N1S models take one native NIM slot and three NIMs with carrier adapters. C8200 and C8200L models take one NIM slot.

An operations team has a failed two-port Ethernet WAN NIM in a Catalyst 8300, Catalyst 8200 or 8200L router. The replacement must match one NIM slot, Cisco IOS XE 17.6.1 and the existing RJ-45 or SFP handoff. Count one module per failed slot before the PO.
A branch router needs two 100-Mbps or 1-Gbps fiber WAN handoffs without changing the chassis. Each C-NIM-2T SFP group uses one Cisco SFP, and only one SFP or RJ-45 side in a group runs at a time. Count the SFP PIDs and match the far-end speed before the PO.
A Catalyst 8300 build has native NIM slots full and free SM-X slots. C-SM-NIM-ADPT carries two NIMs in one SM-X slot and gives full OIR. C8300-2N2S models reach six NIMs with adapters, and C8300-1N1S models reach three. Count adapters, NIMs and blanks before the PO.

2.5-Gbps PoE copper
C-NIM-2T has 100M/1G copper and no PoE budget. C-NIM-1M provides one 1/2.5-Gbps RJ-45 WAN port with 90W IEEE 802.3 af/at/bt.
ISR 4000 installation
C-NIM-2T does not fit Cisco 4000 Series ISR platforms. Cisco named it as a Catalyst 8000 migration PID, so the host must change to Catalyst 8300 or 8200.

C-NIM-2T fits Catalyst 8300, Catalyst 8200 and 8200L platforms. The model set is C8300-2N2S-4T2X, C8300-2N2S-6T, C8300-1N1S-4T2X, C8300-1N1S-6T, C8200-1N-4T and C8200L-1N-4T. Cisco 4000 Series ISR platforms do not take C-NIM and C-SM modules.
A Catalyst 8300 uses C-NIM-2T for two 100-Mbps/1-Gbps routed Ethernet WAN combo groups. The same Ethernet routed-port group also has C-NIM-1X for one 1/10-Gbps SFP/SFP+ WAN port and C-NIM-1M for one 1/2.5-Gbps mGig RJ-45 WAN port with UPOE.

C-NIM-2T adds two RJ-45/SFP combo groups, so the buyer can choose copper or fiber media per active group. It also adds 256-bit WAN MACsec on routed Layer 3 WAN ports. The host routes traffic entering the module, and local Layer 2 switching between module ports is not part of this module.
C-NIM-2T requires Cisco IOS XE 17.6.1 for Catalyst 8300, Catalyst 8200 and 8200L hosts. Catalyst 8300 interface releases also pair the module with XE SD-WAN 17.6.1 and vManage 20.6.1. Use the higher host floor when a router image baseline is above the module release.
C-NIM-2T= is the spare form of C-NIM-2T. The spare form uses the same 2-port 100-Mbps/1-Gbps dual-mode GE/SFP Network Interface Module hardware and the same host fit. Order C-NIM-2T when the bill of materials needs the base PID rather than the spare form.
