Fanless Powered Access for Small Business Networks

C1300-16FP-2G is a fanless, managed Layer 2+ desktop switch with sixteen Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ access ports and two fixed 1G SFP uplinks. The Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series serves small and medium-sized businesses and branch offices connecting computers, IP phones, wireless access points and IP cameras. Dedicated fiber uplinks leave the copper access connections available for endpoints, while the fixed design has no removable uplink module bay. C1300-16P-2G uses the same port configuration with a 120W PoE budget. Voice VLAN and automatic surveillance VLAN functions separate endpoint traffic on this 16-port Gigabit PoE+ switch, while private VLAN options support guest isolation. Eight hardware queues provide traffic prioritization for voice and data sharing the access connections.

C1300-16FP-2G price for new stock is $1,129.80, a 20.4% saving from the Cisco list price of $1,418.55. C1300-16FP-2G refurb price is $1,102.50. C1300-16FP-2G is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

Technical Details

36 Gbps switching capacity supports wire-speed, nonblocking switching, while 26.78 Mpps forwarding describes 64-byte packet handling. 240W of shared PoE power supplies connected endpoints, and Persistent PoE maintains endpoint power during a reboot. Static routing, RIP v2 and PBR support local traffic forwarding; OSPF is not supported. The routing limits are 990 combined dynamic and static IPv4 routes and 128 IP interfaces, which bound local route and interface planning. C1300-16FP-2G carries 1 GB of DRAM and 1 GB of flash. A dynamically shared 1.5 MB packet buffer serves all ports, while the MAC table accommodates 16000 entries. Browser administration, a full CLI and SNMP provide local and remote control. STP, RSTP, MSTP and LACP handle loop prevention and aggregated links. 281.9W maximum consumption with PoE sets the electrical allowance for upstream power sizing rather than describing endpoint power alone.

Ordering

ORM Systems offers C1300-16FP-2G new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, clean boot, PoE output under load on every powered port, optics bay recognition and PSU status, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. New orders include up to a 3-year extended warranty, certified refurbished orders include up to 1 year, and every condition has 30-day returns; terms apply. Specify condition, quantity and required accessories on the purchase order. PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement support enterprise and volume orders, with regional stock and RMA across UK, EU, US and MEA.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

No switch license purchase

C1300-16FP-2G requires no separate switch software license purchase. Software updates have no license or service requirement, so the hardware order does not need a mandatory switch software subscription term.

Shared endpoint power allocation

C1300-16FP-2G requires endpoint power sizing: 16 × 30W = 480W at simultaneous port maximum, against a shared 240W allocation. Specify actual endpoint demand and power priorities before committing the powered-device mix.

Fiber optics ordered separately

C1300-16FP-2G fiber connections require separately specified transceivers. Add GLC-SX-MMD for multimode fiber or GLC-LH-SMD for single-mode fiber, matching reach and the remote interface before the purchase order is released.

Best For

Existing Hardware Replacement

A replacement program for discontinued C1000-16FP-2G-L follows its April 30, 2025 end-of-sale milestone. C1300-16FP-2G is its named successor. Inventory existing VLAN assignments, uplink media and powered endpoints, then specify replacement quantity, condition and a configuration-staging plan before releasing the purchase order.

Branch Mounting Requirements

A branch rollout using equipment racks needs mounting hardware specified separately from the switch condition. RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= supports the compact chassis, while the base package does not include the brackets supplied with larger models. Confirm the mounting location and add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= to the purchase order where required.

Packet Capture Staging

A lab or staging purchase that requires packet captures can use port mirroring before production configuration is approved. The switch can mirror eight source ports to one destination port for analysis. Identify the capture connections and reserve the analyzer destination before specifying the staging quantity and configuration.

Not Suitable If

10G uplinks to upstream switches

C1300-16FP-2G has only 1G SFP uplinks. C1300-16P-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, but its shared PoE allocation falls to 120W.

Hardware stacking across multiple switches

C1300-16FP-2G does not support hardware stacking. C1300-16P-4X supports Front Panel Stacking with eight members within its permitted family and carries a 120W PoE budget.

OSPF participation at the access edge

C1300-16FP-2G supports static routing, RIP v2 and PBR, not OSPF. Catalyst 1300X adds OSPF v2 and v3 and uses different hardware configurations.

Questions & Answers

What does the part number C1300-16FP-2G mean?

C1300-16FP-2G identifies a Catalyst 1300 switch: C1300 is the series, 16 is the Gigabit access-port count, FP denotes the full-PoE variant with a 240W allocation, and 2G indicates two Gigabit SFP uplinks. Each access port supports 30W PoE+, but the aggregate power allocation is shared.

How is C1300-16FP-2G managed?

C1300-16FP-2G supports a web UI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 and USB-C console access, SNMP, Cisco Business Dashboard and the Cisco Business mobile app. An optional USB Bluetooth dongle also enables browser and CLI access. The embedded Dashboard probe removes the need for a separate onsite probe host.

Does C1300-16FP-2G require a software license or subscription?

C1300-16FP-2G requires no separate switch software license purchase or mandatory subscription term. Software updates are available without a license or service requirement, and there is no network-license tier to choose for this PID. Include the hardware condition and required accessories when specifying the order.

Is the Catalyst 1300 series end of sale?

Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1300. C1300-16FP-2G remains an available member of the series rather than a discontinued product. Its role as a replacement for older switches does not transfer those predecessors' end-of-sale dates or support deadlines to this model.

What conditions and warranties does ORM Systems offer for C1300-16FP-2G?

C1300-16FP-2G is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Every condition has 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's separate platform warranty is limited lifetime with return-to-factory replacement, subject to its warranty terms.

How much PoE power does C1300-16FP-2G provide?

C1300-16FP-2G supplies a shared 240W PoE budget across sixteen 30W PoE+ access ports. Sixteen simultaneous 30W allocations would require 480W, so every port cannot receive its maximum at once. Size the endpoint mix by actual power demand rather than assuming full per-port power across the switch.

Which optics can be used with the sixteen-port Gigabit PoE+ switch?

C1300-16FP-2G has two fixed 1G SFP uplinks supporting compatible Gigabit transceivers such as GLC-SX-MMD for multimode fiber and GLC-LH-SMD for single-mode fiber. GLC-SX-MMD reaches 550 m, while GLC-LH-SMD reaches 10 km. Specify optics separately to match the installed fiber and the remote interface.

Can C1300-16FP-2G join a hardware stack?

No, C1300-16FP-2G does not support hardware stacking and cannot join a Front Panel Stacking group. Hardware stacking is restricted to eligible 10G-uplink, multigigabit and 10G models within Catalyst 1300. Cisco Business Dashboard management does not convert this model into a hardware stack member.

What routing features does the Catalyst 1300 Gigabit model support?

C1300-16FP-2G supports static routing, RIP v2 and PBR, with 990 total dynamic and static IPv4 routes and 128 IP interfaces. OSPF is excluded from Catalyst 1300 and belongs to Catalyst 1300X. Routed interfaces can be physical ports, LAGs, VLAN interfaces or loopbacks.

Can the compact Catalyst 1300 switch be mounted in an equipment rack?

C1300-16FP-2G uses a desktop chassis measuring 268 mm wide, 323.3 mm deep and 43.94 mm high. Optional RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= brackets support equipment-rack installation. The sixteen-port package does not include the rack brackets supplied with larger models, so specify the mounting accessory separately when the installation requires it.

What power supply and maximum consumption does C1300-16FP-2G have?

C1300-16FP-2G uses an internal universal AC supply accepting 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz, without a redundant PSU option. Worst-case consumption with PoE is 281.9W at 110V or 275.2W at 220V. Size the upstream power source for the applicable input rather than using the endpoint PoE allocation alone.

Which older switches does C1300-16FP-2G replace?

C1300-16FP-2G replaces discontinued C1000-16FP-2G-L and C1000-16FP-2G-IN, whose end-of-sale date was April 30, 2025. Other discontinued predecessors are CBS350-16FP-2G-AR, CBS350-16FP-2G-AU, CBS350-16FP-2G-BR, CBS350-16FP-2G-EU, CBS350-16FP-2G-JP, CBS350-16FP-2G-NA, CBS350-16FP-2G-SP and CBS350-16FP-2G-UK, ending sale October 29, 2024, plus CBS350-16FP-2G-IN, ending sale January 31, 2025.

What is the difference between C1300-16FP-2G and C1300-16P-2G?

C1300-16FP-2G provides a 240W PoE budget, while C1300-16P-2G provides 120W with the same sixteen Gigabit PoE+ access ports and two Gigabit SFP uplinks. C1300-16FP-2G suits a larger combined endpoint load; C1300-16P-2G suits a lower-demand powered-device mix within its smaller shared budget.

What is the difference between C1300-16FP-2G and C1300-16P-4X?

C1300-16FP-2G provides two 1G SFP uplinks, whereas C1300-16P-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks. The uplink hardware is fixed on both models rather than an interchangeable module. Choose C1300-16FP-2G for Gigabit upstream connections and C1300-16P-4X when the upstream interface requires 10G.

What is the difference between C1300-16FP-2G and C1300-24FP-4G?

C1300-16FP-2G has sixteen Gigabit PoE+ access ports, while C1300-24FP-4G has twenty-four. The difference changes how many endpoints can terminate on one switch, rather than adding ports to the smaller chassis. C1300-16FP-2G suits a sixteen-endpoint requirement; C1300-24FP-4G suits a requirement exceeding that access-port count.
