Shared Endpoint Power for Small Business Access Networks

C1300-48FP-4G is a managed Layer 2+ access switch with 48 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports and four fixed 1G SFP uplinks. The full-width 1U rack-mount chassis belongs to the Catalyst 1300 series and connects small-business or branch-office networks carrying employee data, voice, wireless, and surveillance traffic. Copper access ports connect and power endpoints, while the built-in fiber uplinks connect the access network to upstream equipment without a removable uplink card. Unlike C1300-48T-4G, this model supplies endpoint power rather than providing data-only access. The 48-port Gigabit PoE+ access switch runs a customized Linux operating system, so configuration and operating procedures should follow this series rather than assume another switch family's software.

C1300-48FP-4G price for new stock is $1,987.65, a 34.7% saving from the Cisco list price of $3,044.25. C1300-48FP-4G refurb price is $2,514.75. C1300-48FP-4G is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

Technical Details

104 Gbps switching capacity carries traffic across the built-in interfaces. 77.38 Mpps forwarding at 64-byte packet size supports wire-speed packet handling. 740W of PoE power supplies attached phones, access points, and cameras within the combined endpoint allocation. Static routing, RIP v2, and PBR provide local IP forwarding and traffic-path control; OSPF is not supported on this model. C1300-48FP-4G carries 1 GB of DRAM and 1 GB of flash for operation and image storage, with a dynamically shared 1.5 MB packet buffer across its ports. The forwarding resources accommodate 16000 MAC entries and 990 total IPv4 routes, with 128 IP interfaces for routed segmentation. STP/RSTP/MSTP and LACP handle loop prevention and link aggregation. Browser-based HTTP/HTTPS configuration, CLI access, and SNMP provide direct management, while dual software images support image maintenance. A single cooling fan requires an installation that allows the chassis to ventilate.

Ordering

ORM Systems offers C1300-48FP-4G new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to a 1-year warranty for certified refurbished units; returns are 30 days on every condition, and terms apply. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, including PoE output under load on every powered port and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition, quantities, and required accessories on the purchase order. For enterprise and volume orders, POs are accepted, government buyers have Net-30 terms, and regional stock and RMA handling cover the UK, EU, US, and MEA, with advance replacement.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

No mandatory software subscription

C1300-48FP-4G requires no separately purchased software license or subscription for its switching features. Keep the hardware purchase separate from any optional support service rather than adding a mandatory network-license term.

Size aggregate endpoint demand

Aggregate endpoint demand must fit the shared allocation: 48 ports at 30W would require 1440W, exceeding the 740W available from C1300-48FP-4G. Size the endpoint mix before ordering.

Specify fiber media separately

Fiber links require matched transceivers and cabling on the purchase order. GLC-SX-MMD supports multimode fiber connections; GLC-LH-SMD supports single-mode fiber connections for C1300-48FP-4G.

Best For

Installed Hardware Refresh

An installed C1000-48FP-4G-L entering replacement procurement can move to this current migration model after the predecessor's April 30, 2025 end-of-sale milestone. Treat the change as a new configuration exercise rather than assuming configuration files transfer unchanged. Specify the required condition, rack hardware, and matching fiber media before the PO.

Centrally Managed Branch Rollout

A branch rollout with centralized administration can use the embedded Cisco Business Dashboard probe without adding a separate onsite hardware or virtual-machine probe. Decide whether the operating team will use direct device management or the dashboard, prepare the initial configuration, and specify the management workflow and staging requirements before ordering.

Powered Endpoint Staging

A staging bench that must keep attached phones powered during software reboots can use Persistent PoE rather than planning every reboot as a powered-endpoint outage. Treat continued endpoint power separately from data forwarding during the restart. Include the intended reboot sequence, powered-device mix, and acceptance checks in the staging instructions.

Not Suitable If

10G uplinks to distribution

C1300-48FP-4G has fixed 1G SFP uplinks and cannot provide 10G uplinks. C1300-48FP-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks while retaining 48 Gigabit PoE+ access ports.

Hardware stacking with shared control

C1300-48FP-4G does not support hardware stacking. C1300-48FP-4X supports Front Panel Stacking with eight members; adding the 4G model to that hardware stack is not supported.

OSPF dynamic routing at access

C1300-48FP-4G supports static routing and RIP v2, not OSPF. The Catalyst 1300X series adds OSPF v2 and v3; select its required port and power configuration separately.

More than 30W per endpoint

C1300-48FP-4G limits powered ports to 30W PoE+. The Catalyst 1300X series includes 60W PoE++ configurations; verify powered-port count and aggregate power for the selected configuration.

Questions & Answers

What does the C1300-48FP-4G part number mean?

C1300-48FP-4G identifies a Catalyst 1300 switch with 48 Gigabit PoE+ access ports, a 740W power budget, and four Gigabit SFP uplinks. C1300 denotes the series, 48 denotes access-port count, FP identifies the full-PoE configuration, and 4G identifies the four Gigabit uplinks.

How is C1300-48FP-4G managed?

C1300-48FP-4G is managed through the HTTP/HTTPS web interface, CLI over SSH or Telnet, local RJ-45 or USB Type-C console, SNMP, Cisco Business Dashboard, and Cisco Business mobile app. An external USB Bluetooth dongle also permits browser or CLI access from a laptop or tablet. Select and configure the required access methods before deployment.

Does C1300-48FP-4G require a software license or subscription?

C1300-48FP-4G requires no purchased software license or mandatory subscription for its embedded switching and routing features. There are no network-license tier names or minimum subscription terms to select for this hardware. New sealed and certified refurbished hardware orders therefore do not require a separate switching-feature subscription line item.

How much PoE power does C1300-48FP-4G provide?

C1300-48FP-4G supplies a shared 740W PoE budget across 48 powered ports, with 30W PoE+ capability per port. Full PoE denotes the higher aggregate-power configuration, not 30W simultaneously on every port. Add the endpoint power demands together and keep the combined allocation within the switch budget.

Which fiber optics fit C1300-48FP-4G?

C1300-48FP-4G accepts 1G SFP optics including GLC-SX-MMD for multimode fiber and GLC-LH-SMD for single-mode fiber in its four fixed uplink cages. GLC-SX-MMD supports links to 550 m; GLC-LH-SMD supports links to 10 km. Specify matched optics, fiber type, and the far-end interface together.

What routing does the Catalyst 1300 Gigabit switch support?

The Catalyst 1300 Gigabit configuration used by C1300-48FP-4G supports static routing, RIP v2, and PBR, with 990 total IPv4 routes and 128 IP interfaces. OSPF is not supported on this model. Treat the route count as the combined dynamic and static total when sizing local routing.

Can C1300-48FP-4G join a hardware stack?

No, C1300-48FP-4G does not support hardware stacking, and its Gigabit SFP uplinks are not stacking ports. Front Panel Stacking belongs to selected other Catalyst 1300 configurations. Managing multiple switches through Cisco Business Dashboard does not turn this model into a shared-control-plane hardware stack.

What power input and redundancy does C1300-48FP-4G provide?

C1300-48FP-4G uses an internal AC power supply accepting 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz, without a redundant power-supply option. Maximum consumption with PoE is 854.45W at 110V or 819.41W at 220V. Size the upstream power circuit and backup-power equipment for total switch demand, not only endpoint power.

Is C1300-48FP-4G a rack-mount switch?

Yes, C1300-48FP-4G is a full-width 1U rack-mount switch with mounting brackets included. The chassis measures 43.94 mm high, 444.3 mm wide, and 350 mm deep, and weighs 6.48 kg. Operating temperature is -5°C to 50°C; cold start requires at least 0°C. Allow space for cabling and ventilation.

What is the lifecycle status of Catalyst 1300?

Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1300. C1300-48FP-4G remains an available model in the series. Earlier switches that name this model as their migration option have their own end-of-sale milestones, which do not discontinue the replacement switch or transfer those milestones to it.

Which older switches does C1300-48FP-4G replace?

C1300-48FP-4G replaces discontinued C1000-48FP-4G-L, CBS350-48FP-4G-AR, CBS350-48FP-4G-AU, CBS350-48FP-4G-CN, CBS350-48FP-4G-EU, CBS350-48FP-4G-JP, CBS350-48FP-4G-NA, CBS350-48FP-4G-SP, CBS350-48FP-4G-TW, CBS350-48FP-4G-UK, CBS350-48FP-4G-IN, and CBS350-48FP-4G-BR. C1000-48FP-4G-L ended sale April 30, 2025. The IN model ended sale January 31, 2025; the other listed CBS350 models ended sale October 29, 2024.

What condition and warranty options does ORM Systems offer for C1300-48FP-4G?

ORM Systems offers C1300-48FP-4G new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year warranty. Cisco's platform warranty is limited lifetime with return-to-factory replacement, separate from ORM coverage. Both ORM conditions include 30-day returns; terms apply. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default.

What is the difference between C1300-48FP-4G and C1300-48T-4G?

C1300-48FP-4G provides PoE+ on its access ports, while C1300-48T-4G provides data connectivity without PoE output. Both configurations use Gigabit access ports and fixed Gigabit SFP uplinks. Choose C1300-48FP-4G for switch-powered endpoints; C1300-48T-4G suits equipment that receives power independently.

What is the difference between C1300-48FP-4G and C1300-48FP-4X?
