C9300-48S-1A accommodates 32000 total IPv4 routes, comprising 24000 direct and 8000 indirect entries, so the complete total must not be mistaken for learned-route capacity. An 8 GB DRAM allocation and 16 GB flash support the operating environment, while the Gigabit hardware uses a 16 MB packet buffer for queued traffic. Within the Catalyst 9000 family, UADP 2.0 forwarding silicon supports template-based allocation of forwarding, access-control and quality-of-service resources. When several fiber-connected access segments are being consolidated, support for 4094 VLAN IDs gives the design a defined segmentation ceiling. Keep the link inventory separate from the VLAN plan, and identify the required transceiver type for each connection before specifying the optics quantities on the purchase order.
When inter-VLAN routing is moving into an access cabinet, the limit of 1000 switched virtual interfaces constrains how many routed VLAN interfaces the design can instantiate. Separate the interface requirement from routing-table capacity, then specify the intended interface configuration and routing feature requirements before the purchase order is approved.

C9300-48S-1A identifies a Catalyst 9300 federal-only fiber switch: C9300 is the switch family, 48 is the access-port count, S identifies fiber access, and 1A identifies the one-year offering with Network Advantage. The hardware uses 1G SFP access ports and modular uplinks; the perpetual network license does not expire after one year.
C9300-48S-1A supports local console access, SSH CLI, embedded WebUI, automation APIs, Cisco Catalyst Center, and licensed Meraki dashboard workflows. NETCONF, RESTCONF and gNMI provide programmable interfaces. The WebUI accompanies the default image without a separate GUI license; centralized management and migration options depend on the selected software subscription and operating mode.

C9300-48S-1A provides 48 data-only 1G SFP access ports, while C9300-48P-1A provides 48 copper PoE+ access ports. Fiber links on C9300-48S-1A do not deliver endpoint power. C9300-48P-1A suits powered copper endpoints; C9300-48S-1A suits fiber-connected access equipment that receives power separately from its network connection.
