CMICR-4PT is a fanless Layer 2 desktop switch with four Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ access ports and two fixed 1G uplinks: one dedicated copper connection and one copper-or-fiber combo connection. The Cisco Catalyst Micro Switches family places managed access close to end devices in fiber-to-the-desk installations, with connections returning directly to the main distribution frame. LAN Lite is the supplied Cisco IOS software tier, supporting local access for phones, wireless access points, and cameras rather than routed access. The discontinued CMICR-4PC is the nearby wall-jack model; the desktop version adds two USB-C power outputs. Secure Boot restricts software loading to signed, authorized images, while port-based access control lists apply source- and destination-address policies separately to individual interfaces.

12 Gbps full-duplex switching capacity supports the fixed interface set, and 8.928 Mpps forwarding handles 64-byte packets. 62W of PoE is available when PSU-80W-AC is the sole power source, so endpoint allocations share that total rather than reserving maximum power on every port. CMICR-4PT carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for system software and configuration storage. The Catalyst Micro Switch supports 64 active VLANs and an 8192-entry MAC table, setting its local segmentation and address scale. LACP forms Ethernet channels, while LLDP and LLDP-MED identify attached endpoints. SNMPv3 supports monitoring and configuration through supported management objects; TACACS+ and RADIUS provide authentication options. 79.49W measured input at full PoE test loading provides the PSU-80W-AC consumption reference, not a consumption figure for operation with supplemental upstream power.
ORM Systems offers CMICR-4PT new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, including PoE output under load on every powered port, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition and accessories on the purchase order: ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. Cisco's separate enhanced limited lifetime warranty has original-owner and end-of-life restrictions, with Cisco service ending April 30, 2031. For enterprise and volume orders, POs are accepted, Net-30 is available for government, and regional stock and RMA coverage spans UK, EU, US, and MEA, including RMA with advance replacement.

An office rollout that places access equipment beneath furniture needs the desktop model's table-bottom or wall mounting arrangement rather than a rack installation. CMICR-BRKT-DSK secures the chassis to the selected surface. Include CMICR-BRKT-DSK, the mounting location, and cable access requirements on the purchase order before hardware quantities are finalized.
A staging team preparing replacement units can use removable storage for boot images and configuration files instead of recreating each configuration manually. CMICR-MSD-1G supports that workflow. Because microSD access is disabled during reload and requires manual enablement, include CMICR-MSD-1G and the enablement procedure in the staging purchase specification.
A location without a local power outlet must size endpoint demand against the upstream-fed allocation rather than the highest combined-input figure. A 60W uplink input leaves 29W for PoE-only output, while 90W leaves 46W. Confirm upstream allocation and endpoint demand before specifying an installation without PSU-80W-AC.
10G uplinks to distribution
CMICR-4PT limits both uplinks to 1G and has no removable uplink-card bay. A distribution design requiring a native 10G connection exceeds the built-in interface capability.
Inter-VLAN routing inside the switch
CMICR-4PT runs LAN Lite for Layer 2 forwarding rather than routed access. Inter-VLAN traffic requires an upstream routing device; the hardware-bound base license cannot be upgraded to another software tier.

CMICR-4PT names the Catalyst Micro Switch for desktop deployments, with CMICR identifying the micro-switch family and the complete 4PT designation identifying the desktop version. The configuration has four Gigabit PoE+ access ports, one dedicated copper uplink, one combo uplink, and LAN Lite software.
Cisco Catalyst Micro Switches can be managed through a web UI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, the micro-USB console, SNMP, Cisco DNA Center, or Cisco Prime Infrastructure. Cisco Network Plug and Play supports automated provisioning. Select the management method and any centralized-management subscriptions before staging the units.
CMICR-4PT supplies 62W of PoE with PSU-80W-AC alone and reaches 120W with PSU-80W-AC plus a 90W uplink input. Each powered Ethernet port supports 30W. Four ports at that maximum require 120W in total, so the PSU-80W-AC-only configuration cannot reserve maximum power for every endpoint.
CMICR-4PT can operate from its uplink PD port using PoE+, Cisco UPOE, or Cisco UPOE+ input, without PSU-80W-AC. Upstream power determines whether endpoint power is available: 60W input leaves 29W for PoE-only output, while 90W input leaves 46W. Specify upstream allocation separately from endpoint demand.
CMICR-4PT has two USB-C power outputs, each supporting 60W when sufficient power is available. The connectors supply devices such as laptops, monitors, and phones. With PSU-80W-AC plus a 90W uplink input, simultaneous USB-C and Ethernet PoE operation uses a 90W shared allocation, not separate full-power budgets.
CMICR-4PT has two fixed 1G uplinks: one dedicated RJ-45 connection and one combo uplink selecting either RJ-45 copper or SFP fiber. The combo interfaces cannot operate simultaneously, and the combo connection does not supply PoE. Select the uplink medium during configuration and match the optical equipment to the required fiber link.
CMICR-4PT is a Layer 2 switch running Cisco IOS LAN Lite, so inter-VLAN routing belongs on an upstream routing device. The switch supports local VLAN segmentation, link aggregation, and access controls, but the supplied image is not a routed-access software tier. Its active VLAN limit is 64.
CMICR-4PT includes a permanent LAN Lite license; optional Cisco DNA Essentials and Cisco DNA Advantage subscriptions have a 3-year minimum term, with 5-year and 7-year terms also available. Essentials supplies basic centralized functions. Advantage requires a fabric-edge-capable upstream switch for SDA Extended Node operation; LAN Lite does not expire.
CMICR-4PT reached end of sale on April 30, 2026, with final support scheduled for April 30, 2031. Software maintenance ends April 30, 2027, and the last supported Cisco IOS release family is 15.2(8)E. No direct replacement is designated for the Catalyst Micro Switches family.
CMICR-4PT reaches 120W of PoE with combined PSU-80W-AC and 90W uplink power, while CMICR-4PC provides 62W from PSU-80W-AC. Both models are discontinued. For installed-base purchasing, CMICR-4PT accommodates the higher combined-power requirement; CMICR-4PC suits installations retaining the single-PSU-80W-AC power arrangement and its lower available PoE budget.
CMICR-4PT offers one dedicated copper uplink and one copper-or-fiber combo uplink, while CMICR-4PS offers two dedicated SFP uplinks; all operate at 1G. Both are discontinued. CMICR-4PT fits installed systems needing mixed-media uplink choices, whereas CMICR-4PS matches existing installations requiring two separate fiber uplinks.
CMICR-4PT supports tabletop, table-bottom, and wall mounting using CMICR-BRKT-DSK, rather than a full-width rack chassis. The switch measures 45 mm high, 152.4 mm wide, and 134.5 mm deep. Include CMICR-BRKT-DSK and allow space for power and uplink connections when preparing the installation order.
ORM Systems offers CMICR-4PT new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year. Every condition has 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate enhanced limited lifetime hardware warranty has original-owner and end-of-life restrictions; Cisco service ends April 30, 2031.
