IE-2000U-16TC-G-X combines conformal coating with fanless Layer 2 switching for industrial substation installations. Sixteen 10/100BASE-T access ports connect locally powered automation equipment, while two Gigabit Ethernet combo uplinks and two additional Fast Ethernet combo uplinks provide fixed copper-or-fiber connections. The DIN rail chassis belongs to the Industrial Ethernet 2000U series and ships with the LAN Base software image. No PoE output is available on this model. Within the Connected Grid switch family, the configuration serves intelligent electronic devices, controllers and other Ethernet-enabled utility equipment. The discontinued IE-2000U-16TC-GP adds PoE/PoE+ capability for powered endpoints. IEEE 1588 timing and PRP support address synchronization and redundant-network requirements without changing the access-port speed. IE-2000U-16TC-G-X provides 256 MB of DRAM and 1 GB of removable flash for its operating image and configuration. An 8000-entry MAC address table supports endpoint learning, while 1005 VLANs provide segmentation and a 2 MB egress buffer handles queued traffic. RSTP, PVRST+, REP and FlexLink provide alternative network redundancy mechanisms, and LACP aggregates Ethernet links. Cisco IOS supports the Cisco Configuration Professional graphical interface, CLI access over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2 and 3 for remote monitoring. DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection and IP source guard control access-side traffic; RADIUS/TACACS+ supports administrative authentication. Configurable egress queues and ingress policing allow traffic treatment to be set per application.

IE-2000U-16TC-G-X identifies an Industrial Ethernet 2000U switch with sixteen Fast Ethernet copper access ports, additional combo connections, Gigabit uplinks and conformal coating. IE-2000U names the series, 16TC describes the copper-access and combo configuration, G identifies Gigabit uplinks, and X distinguishes the coated version. LAN Base is included.
IE-2000U-16TC-G-X supports the Cisco Configuration Professional graphical application, Cisco IOS CLI over local console, SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2 and 3. Local access uses either the RJ-45 console or USB mini-Type B console. These options support configuration, monitoring and integration with an SNMP management station.
IE-2000U-16TC-G-X ended sale on July 26, 2024, and reaches its last date of support on July 31, 2029. Routine software maintenance ended July 26, 2025. Vulnerability and security support ends July 26, 2027. Remaining Cisco service depends on applicable warranty entitlement or an active service contract.

IE-2000U-16TC-G-X provides two Gigabit Ethernet combo uplinks and two Fast Ethernet combo uplinks. The Industrial Ethernet 2000U accepts an external DC source, with PWR-IE50W-AC= available for AC-fed installations. The switch has DC-A and DC-B inputs and can operate from one or two sources. Redundant arrangements require independent upstream sources; when both inputs are available, the higher-voltage source supplies the switch.
The Industrial Ethernet 2000U supports operation from -40°C to 75°C, subject to enclosure, airflow, altitude and optic restrictions. A sealed enclosure without airflow limits operation to 60°C; a vented enclosure with the specified airflow permits 70°C. Nonindustrial optics require additional temperature derating, so enclosure and transceiver selection must be coordinated.
The Industrial Ethernet 2000U can use STK-RACKMNT-2955 for installation on a rack-mounted DIN rail. The switch itself remains a DIN rail unit rather than a full-width rack chassis. The sixteen-access-port enclosure measures 130 mm high, 127 mm wide and 134 mm deep, including the DIN rail arrangement.
IE-2000U-16TC-G-X supports PRP, REP, FlexLink, RSTP and PVRST+ for redundant industrial network designs. IEEE 1588 timing is also supported on this model. Select the required redundancy method against the existing topology and connected-device capabilities; these features provide different network arrangements rather than interchangeable configuration settings.
The Industrial Ethernet 2000U supports GLC-SX-MM-RGD= for Gigabit multimode links and GLC-LX-SM-RGD= for Gigabit multimode or single-mode links. GLC-FE-100FX-RGD= supports Fast Ethernet multimode connections. Match the optic to the uplink speed, fiber plant and required reach; industrial temperature ratings matter when retaining the switch's full environmental operating range.
