IE-2000-16TC-B is a managed Layer 2+ industrial switch with 16 copper 10/100 access ports, LAN Base software and DIN rail mounting. Its fixed uplinks comprise two 100 Mb/s SFP ports and two Fast Ethernet combo ports that accept either copper connections or SFP optics. Each combo port uses one medium at a time, so its copper and optical connectors cannot provide independent simultaneous links. The Industrial Ethernet 2000 series serves industrial access networks with separately powered endpoints. The discontinued IE-2000-16PTC-G-E differs by providing four PoE+ ports; this model supplies no endpoint power.

IPv4 static routing supports predetermined network paths under LAN Base; OSPF and EIGRP require IP Lite rather than the included tier. IE-2000-16TC-B carries 256 MB of DRAM and 64 MB of onboard flash for system software. The Cisco IE 2000 provides separate DC-A and DC-B inputs, allowing independently supplied power feeds rather than interchangeable internal power modules. When both feeds operate, the higher-voltage source supplies the chassis. 30W maximum consumption sets the switch power requirement before separately powered endpoint loads are considered.
IE-2000-16TC-B is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, optics bay recognition and clean boot, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition, quantity and required accessories on the PO. ORM warranties are up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; every condition has 30-day returns, terms apply, while Cisco's separate five-year limited warranty ends no later than July 31, 2029. Replacing an installed machine-network switch can require restoration of its software and configuration before reconnection. An SD-IE-1GB= card can store both and transfer them to a replacement chassis. Specify whether the spare order includes a card, and identify the configuration-transfer procedure before issuing the PO.
Cabinets requiring local fault indication can connect the switch's two alarm inputs and one alarm output relay to external monitoring circuits. Those connections require their own wiring and alarm configuration, separate from Ethernet cabling. Specify the required alarm contacts and cabinet wiring scope before placing the order.
Preparing replacement units on a staging bench requires choosing between the RJ-45 console and five-pin USB mini-Type B console. The USB console takes priority when both are connected, and Windows USB operation requires the appropriate driver. Specify the staging interface and confirm workstation readiness before the PO.
Gigabit access to industrial endpoints
Access connections stop at 100 Mb/s. The current replacement, IE-3100-18T2C-E, provides 18 Gigabit copper access ports rather than 16 Fast Ethernet access ports, changing both speed and density.
Power for PoE-dependent endpoint devices
IE-2000-16TC-B has no PoE output on its access ports; attached endpoint devices must obtain their operating power from a separate supply.
Unenclosed outdoor or washdown installation
IP30 protection is not a sealed outdoor enclosure. The chassis requires a suitable protective cabinet; hazardous-location installations additionally require the enclosure and wiring approvals appropriate to the site.

IE-2000-16TC-B identifies an Industrial Ethernet 2000 switch: 16 specifies sixteen Fast Ethernet copper access ports, the TC configuration includes copper/SFP combo connections, and B identifies LAN Base. This configuration also includes two dedicated Fast Ethernet SFP uplinks, separate from the two combo uplinks.
IE-2000-16TC-B supports Web Device Manager, Cisco IOS CLI over console, SSH or Telnet, Cisco Network Assistant, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution, SNMP, CIP tools and PROFINET software such as STEP 7. Cisco Catalyst Center Essentials provides additional centralized management functions through separate term licensing.
IE-2000-16TC-B is discontinued, with end of sale on July 26, 2024, and last support on July 31, 2029. Software maintenance ended July 26, 2025; vulnerability and security support ends July 26, 2027. IE-3100-18T2C-E is the current replacement for migration planning.

IE-2000-16TC-B includes LAN Base; IP Lite requires the separate LIC-IE2000-IP-L= upgrade, discontinued July 26, 2024. Catalyst Center Essentials has three-, five- and seven-year terms, with a three-year minimum and IE2000-DNA-E-M-3Y for this port range. Catalyst Center Advantage is unavailable on Industrial Ethernet 2000 switches.
IE-2000-16TC-B has four 100 Mb/s uplinks: two dedicated SFP ports and two copper/SFP combo ports. Each combo port operates through one selected medium, not both connectors simultaneously. Specify the intended copper or fiber connections before ordering optics; these uplinks do not provide Gigabit connectivity.
IE-2000-16TC-B can operate from independent DC-A and DC-B power feeds, but has no interchangeable redundant internal PSU modules. The higher-voltage feed powers the chassis when both are active. Connect the feeds to independent sources; sharing an upstream circuit leaves both exposed to the same supply failure.
IE-2000-16TC-B measures 130 mm high, 127 mm wide and 134 mm deep, including its DIN rail mounting arrangement. Installation additionally requires 50.8 mm clearance above, below, at the sides and in front. Reserve that clearance separately from chassis dimensions when specifying the protective cabinet.
LAN Base on IE-2000-16TC-B supports IPv4 static routing, not the OSPF or EIGRP capabilities assigned to IP Lite. The chassis part number therefore does not establish dynamic-routing entitlement. For retained equipment, confirm the installed software license separately from the saved configuration before specifying routed operation.
IE-2000-16PTC-G-E supplies four PoE+ access ports, while IE-2000-16TC-B supplies no PoE output. Both models were discontinued July 26, 2024. The powered model serves retained installations requiring Ethernet-delivered endpoint power; the non-PoE model serves installations where endpoint devices already have their own power sources.
IE-2000-16TC-B includes LAN Base, whereas IE-2000-16TC-L includes LAN Lite; LAN Base adds IPv4 static routing beyond the baseline Layer 2 features. Both were discontinued July 26, 2024. LAN Base fits retained networks requiring static routes; LAN Lite fits retained Layer 2-only configurations.
IE-3100-18T2C-E provides Gigabit copper access, while IE-2000-16TC-B provides Fast Ethernet copper access. The current replacement also has eighteen dedicated copper ports rather than sixteen. The discontinued older model serves exact-part maintenance requirements; the replacement fits new Gigabit purchases where the changed access-port count is acceptable.
