256 MB DRAM provides working memory for switching and management functions, while 64 MB onboard flash holds the Cisco IOS image. The Cisco IE 2000 Series uses a 2 MB egress buffer to accommodate queued traffic before transmission. IE-2000-16PTC-G-L supports REP, VTPv2, UDLD, CDP, and LLDP under LAN Lite, with SSH and SNMPv3 for administrative access. IGMPv1, IGMPv2, and IGMPv3 snooping controls multicast forwarding within the switched network. IPv4 static routing is not included with the shipped license, so routed connectivity must reside elsewhere unless the software entitlement changes. An existing industrial cabinet needs another access switch without replacing the enclosure or moving adjacent equipment. Installation requires 50.8 mm clearance above, below, beside, and in front of the chassis. Review usable mounting space rather than enclosure dimensions alone, and specify the required cabinet clearances before the PO.
An endpoint expansion must work with an existing lower-output external supply rather than assuming every powered port can deliver maximum power. PWR-IE65W-PC-AC= supports four PoE endpoints or two PoE+ endpoints. Separate endpoint power classes in the equipment schedule and confirm the external supply configuration before the PO.
An operations team is adding a staged spare that must accept an existing configuration without rebuilding settings during replacement. The optional SD-IE-1GB= stores configuration information for transfer between units and is not included by default. Specify SD-IE-1GB= separately when removable configuration storage forms part of the sparing procedure.
Gigabit connectivity on every access port
The access ports stop at 100 Mbps. IE-3200-8P2S-E provides Gigabit Ethernet access, but its eight access ports require a density review against the original sixteen connections.
PoE+ on more than four ports
Only four access ports supply endpoint power. IE-3200-8P2S-E provides eight Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ access ports, while reducing overall access-port density from sixteen to eight.
Routing under the included software license
LAN Lite supplies Layer 2 switching rather than IPv4 static or dynamic routing. A requirement to route traffic locally is outside the included software entitlement.
10G uplinks to distribution
The fixed combo uplinks support Gigabit Ethernet, not 10G. The chassis has no removable uplink-card bay through which a higher-speed uplink configuration can be added.

IE-2000-16PTC-G-L identifies an Industrial Ethernet 2000 switch: IE-2000 names the family, 16PTC represents sixteen Fast Ethernet copper ports including four PoE+ ports, G indicates two Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, and L identifies LAN Lite. IE-2000-16PTC-G-L accepts two external DC feeds for system-power redundancy, rather than two internal removable power supplies. The higher-voltage source supplies system power while both feeds are available; the other feed continues powering the chassis if that source fails. Use independent external sources, and handle the separate PoE input as its own power requirement.
Industrial Ethernet 2000 operation depends on enclosure airflow: sealed enclosures allow -40°C to 60°C, while vented enclosures allow -40°C to 70°C. IE-2000-16PTC-G-L has a 65°C maximum ambient limit when powering four 30W PoE+ ports. Apply both the enclosure limit and the endpoint-loading restriction when reviewing cabinet temperature.
IE-2000-16PTC-G-L supports two dry-contact alarm inputs and one alarm output relay. The inputs detect open or closed contacts, while the relay provides normally open and normally closed connections. Alarm behavior can be configured through the CLI for environmental, power-supply, and port-status conditions before connection to an external alarm circuit.
