256 virtual interfaces let service profiles create independent NICs and HBAs; about 8 interfaces are reserved for internal use, and the OS or hypervisor can reduce the usable count. PCIe 3.0 x16 host connectivity feeds the Cisco UCS custom ASIC. 28W maximum power and 16 mm x 94 mm x 146.1 mm sizing match the VIC 1497 mLOM envelope. UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 supports SR-IOV, usNIC, iSCSI boot, eNIC, fNIC, DPDK, NetFlow, NPIV, VM-FEX, GENEVE, VXLAN, NVGRE, PFC and 9KB jumbo frames. Back-to-back VIC connections have latency as low as 1 microsecond, and Nexus switch paths run at about 1 to 2 microseconds. RoCEv2 runs with Windows Server 2019 NDKPI Mode 1 and Mode 2, IPv4, IPv6 and Linux; UCS Manager 4.1 adds NVMeoF with RDMA.

UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 has no reverse-breakout to 4x10G or 4x25G. C220 M5, C240 M5 and C240 SD M5 use UCSC-MLOM-C25Q-04 for 10/25G SFP28.

UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 fits UCS C220 M5, UCS C240 M5 and UCS C240 SD M5 rack servers. The card uses the mLOM x16 location. M6 rack servers do not take this PID; C220 M6, C240 M6, C225 M6 and C245 M6 take UCSC-M-V100-04.
A UCS C220 M5 uses UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 for dual 40/100G QSFP28 mLOM service. Other C220 M5 mLOM choices are UCSC-MLOM-C25Q-04 for quad 10/25G SFP28, UCSC-MLOM-C40Q-03 for dual 40G QSFP+ and UCSC-MLOM-IRJ45 for quad 1GBase-T.

UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 has two QSFP28 ports rated for 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps per port. The far end must match the selected 40G or 100G mode with Cisco QSFP optics, passive copper cables or active optical cables.

UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 uses the mLOM x16 location inside C220 M5, C240 M5 and C240 SD M5 servers. It does not consume riser 1 or riser 2. A C240 M5 with two GPUs still needs an mLOM VIC for UCS Manager discovery.
UCSC-MLOM-C100-04 needs UCS Manager 4.0(2c) minimum with VIC firmware 5.0(2b) or standalone 4.0(2) minimum with VIC firmware 5.0(2b). Recommended levels are UCS Manager 4.0(4e) with VIC firmware 5.0(3d) and standalone 4.0(4h) with VIC firmware 5.0.3(d).
