Static and RIP routing support the supplied configuration; OSPF, EIGRP and BGP are not included in that feature set. WS-CBS3120X-S has 256 MB DRAM for operation and 64 MB flash for software storage. Resource allocation changes with the selected template: the default reserves 6000 MAC entries, while the routing template supports 11000 total unicast routes. Browser-based Device Manager and CLI access provide local administration, with SSH dependent on the cryptographic software image. Two dedicated stack connectors carry inter-switch connectivity separately from the external Ethernet uplinks.

When extending an existing blade-switch group, keep membership within the Catalyst Blade Switch 3120 for HP family; other blade-switch types cannot join. Identify the installed hardware and software before adding a unit, then specify compatible members and the required interconnection accessories on the purchase order.
When staging a spare for an existing installation, retain the combined tar package containing both Cisco IOS and web-management files, rather than only the executable image. Archive the operating release before changing software, and specify the image and activation verification requirements before releasing the spare for deployment.
OSPF or BGP without license upgrades
The supplied IP Base feature set limits routing to Static and RIP. OSPF and BGP require IP Services activation rather than the included configuration.
10G server-facing access connections
The internal server-facing interfaces operate at Gigabit Ethernet speed. The 10G capability belongs to the external X2 uplinks, not the blade-server downlinks.

The model number is not an external copper access-port count; server connections are internal to the enclosure.
