ME-2400-24TS-A provides Layer 2 Metro Ethernet access through 24 Fast Ethernet copper ports and two fixed SFP uplink cages. The non-PoE configuration uses AC power and occupies one rack unit, matching legacy subscriber access installations rather than Gigabit desktop connectivity. Cisco ME 2400 Series Ethernet Access Switches separate customer-facing connections from provider-facing links through UNI and NNI interface roles. The discontinued ME-2400-24TS-D changes the power input to DC while retaining the same port arrangement. This AC model belongs to a retired product family for which Cisco support has ended; new sealed condition does not change that lifecycle position.

8.8 Gbps switching capacity and 6.5 Mpps forwarding establish the traffic-handling limits for the installed interface configuration. 2000 MAC entries bound address learning, while 64 MB DRAM and 16 MB flash accommodate the operating software and stored configuration. ME-2400-24TS-A runs Cisco IOS Metro Base software, with a cryptographic image variant providing SSH and Kerberos. RSTP supports spanning-tree recovery, and IGMP snooping controls multicast distribution. Configuration can be performed locally through the console or remotely through supported management connections. 30W maximum consumption supplies the equipment-power figure for cabinet planning; typical consumption is 25W. The copper access ports do not acquire Gigabit capability when a faster uplink transceiver is installed.
ME-2400-24TS-A is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty coverage for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; returns are available for 30 days in every condition, with terms applying. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the condition, installed software requirements, accessories, and quantity on the purchase order. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US, and MEA regional operations.

An existing subscriber access installation may require like-for-like interface behavior rather than a change to ordinary desktop switching. UNI interfaces default to disabled and prevent local switching between subscribers. Before the PO, specify which customer interfaces must be activated and how their service configuration will be restored.
A legacy installation expanding its service separation needs a configuration-capacity check before another unit is ordered. The product of VLAN count and trunk-port count must remain within the recommended limit of 5000. Review the intended configuration against that constraint and include the approved configuration in the staging requirements.
Gigabit speed on every access port
The copper access interfaces stop at 100 Mbps. Gigabit uplink connectivity does not increase their native speed, so a Gigabit access requirement exceeds this configuration.
Active Cisco support for deployment
The ME 2400 series is retired and no longer supported by Cisco. New sealed inventory does not restore manufacturer support for the product family.

ME-2400-24TS-A identifies the ME 2400 family, a configuration with 24 10/100 Ethernet access ports and two SFP uplinks, and AC power. The final A distinguishes the AC-powered model. The configuration does not indicate Gigabit copper access ports or a separate software license tier.
ME-2400-24TS-A supports the Cisco IOS CLI through console and Telnet connections, with SSH available in a cryptographic image. SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 support network management. CiscoWorks and Cisco CNS 2100 Series Intelligence Engine integration provide additional centralized management paths.
Cisco ME 2400 switches are retired and no longer supported by Cisco. ME-2400-24TS-A therefore belongs to a legacy maintenance purchase rather than a currently supported manufacturer product family. Inventory condition does not restart Cisco support or establish eligibility for ongoing manufacturer service.
New sealed ME-2400-24TS-A units carry up to 3-year extended ORM warranty coverage; certified refurbished units carry up to 1 year. Both conditions have 30-day returns, with terms applying. Cisco service has ended for this retired family, so ORM coverage must not be confused with active Cisco hardware coverage.
ME-2400-24TS-A uses Cisco IOS Metro Base software, with standard and cryptographic image variants. The cryptographic variant adds SSH and Kerberos to the basic Metro Ethernet feature set. Specify the required installed image on the order rather than assuming that the AC power suffix selects encryption capabilities.
ME-2400-24TS-A uses AC power, whereas ME-2400-24TS-D uses DC power; the access-port and SFP-uplink arrangements remain the same. AC-fed equipment locations match the A model electrically, while DC plants match the D model. Both models are discontinued members of the retired ME 2400 family.
ME-2400-24TS-A supports 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps uplink connections through its two fixed SFP cages with suitable transceivers. These are built-in uplink positions rather than a removable network-module bay. Match the connection speed, optical characteristics, and far-end interface when preparing the accessory requirements.
Cisco ME 2400 software staging starts with identifying the running release through the show version command and retaining working image copies before changes. TFTP supports software transfer. Include the required image and recovery baseline in the staging instructions rather than assuming every retained unit has an identical installation.
Cisco ME 2400 supports IP SLAs responder functionality beginning with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(40)SE. The installed software release therefore matters when replacing a unit used for that function. Identify the running release before reproducing the configuration and include the responder requirement in the staging scope.
Cisco ME 2400 configurations should keep VLAN count multiplied by trunk-port count within the recommended limit of 5000. Exceeding that recommendation can cause switch failure. Review the complete intended configuration before expanding services rather than assessing VLAN count or trunk-port count independently.
