SFE2000-G5 is a managed Layer 2+ access switch with 24 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 ports and fixed Gigabit connections for upstream links. Two Gigabit connections are copper-only, while two additional connections offer RJ-45 or SFP media through shared combo ports. The rack-mount chassis belongs to the Cisco Small Business range and connects separately powered computers, printers, and other LAN devices retaining Fast Ethernet interfaces. The discontinued SFE2000P-G5 adds PoE, whereas this configuration leaves endpoint power outside the switch purchase. The SFE2000 model combines configurable traffic separation with copper or fiber upstream connectivity without requiring an uplink expansion card. Combo connections select one medium at a time rather than providing independent copper and fiber links.

12.8 Gbps switching capacity provides the internal switching fabric, while 9.5 Mpps forwarding describes maximum throughput with 64-byte packets. Static routing supports configured paths between subnets. STP/RSTP/MSTP provide spanning-tree options, and LACP supports aggregated connections where the upstream equipment uses link aggregation. SFE2000-G5 supports SNMP and RMON monitoring alongside VLAN configuration, access controls, and quality-of-service policies for different traffic classes. Administrators can apply rate limits and prioritize individual flows instead of assigning every application the same treatment. MAC-address filtering and port authentication provide additional controls over network attachment. The SFE/SGE managed switch software provides configurable operation rather than unmanaged forwarding. 54W power consumption supplies the chassis-load figure for electrical planning. An internal universal AC supply powers the chassis, and a separate redundant-power connector provides an external power-input path. The electrical and traffic configuration should therefore be specified independently of endpoint power requirements.
ORM Systems offers SFE2000-G5 new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year; every condition includes 30-day returns, terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, rated-speed links on every port, and optics bay recognition; firmware is verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition, connection media, and quantity on the purchase order; Cisco's original 5-year limited hardware warranty and service ended December 31, 2017. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When an office retains existing copper runs, Category 5 or better cabling supports the switch's copper Ethernet connections. Separate endpoint cable checks from the selection of upstream media, and identify which connections will remain copper rather than fiber. Confirm cable condition and the required connection media before ordering.
When several small wiring areas are consolidated, a stack can integrate 192 access ports under a master and backup master. The purchase decision includes the intended topology and member numbering, not just an additional chassis. Specify the stack layout and responsibility for member configuration before issuing the purchase order.
For a staging bench reproducing an existing installation, the default management address is 192.168.1.254 on VLAN 1. Reserve a directly connected configuration workstation and isolate initial setup from production addressing conflicts. Specify the required saved configuration and management addressing before the purchase order is released.
Gigabit speeds on every access port
The 24 access ports operate at 10/100 Mbps; Gigabit connectivity is confined to the additional connections. A requirement for Gigabit endpoint links exceeds this configuration.
Power delivery over Ethernet cabling
SFE2000-G5 does not supply PoE to attached devices. Phones, access points, or other powered endpoints require separate power arrangements rather than power from these access ports.
10G connections to upstream switches
The fixed upstream connections are limited to 1G. SFE2000-G5 has no removable uplink card bay through which a faster upstream interface can be added.

SFE2000-G5 identifies the non-PoE SFE2000 managed switch with 24 Fast Ethernet access ports, two dedicated Gigabit copper connections, and two Gigabit copper/SFP combo connections. SFE2000 is the model name, while the complete SFE2000-G5 code identifies the ordering variant to specify on the purchase order.
SFE2000-G5 is configured through its embedded web GUI, Telnet for basic configuration and diagnostics, or the serial console; SNMP and RMON support monitoring. The console provides local access, while browser and Telnet connections require IP connectivity through a non-stacking Ethernet port.
SFE2000-G5 belongs to the retired SFE2000 model, whose end-of-sale date was December 30, 2012, and whose Cisco support ended December 31, 2017. Purchasing another unit does not restart Cisco service coverage. Condition selection therefore needs to distinguish reseller-provided coverage from Cisco's ended support.
ORM Systems offers SFE2000-G5 new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year. Every condition includes 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's original 5-year limited hardware warranty is no longer active; Cisco support ended December 31, 2017. Refurbished managed units are firmware verified and wiped to factory default.
SFE2000-G5 provides four Gigabit Ethernet connections in standalone mode, comprising two copper-only ports and two copper/SFP combo ports. Each combo connection selects either its RJ-45 interface or its SFP interface. G1 and G2 default to stacking, so their intended Ethernet use requires the operating mode to be specified.
The SFE2000 supports eight stack members and 192 access ports, with ring or chain connections and master/backup-master control. Fast Ethernet and Gigabit models cannot be mixed in the same stack. Member numbering can be automatic or configured manually when preparing the stack configuration.
Yes, the SFE2000 supports static routing between configured subnets. The routing requirement should identify the destination networks and next hops as part of the configuration specification. Static inter-VLAN routing is distinct from simply assigning ports to VLANs to separate their Ethernet traffic.
Yes, SFE2000-G5 has a 440 mm-wide, 44 mm-high chassis suitable for a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Chassis depth is 375 mm, and weight is 4.39 kg. Include connection clearance and the required mounting hardware in the physical installation specification before ordering.
SFE2000-G5 has an internal universal 100-240V AC supply and an external 48V DC redundant-power connector. Power consumption is 54W. The external connector provides the redundancy path; the chassis does not provide a second internal hot-swappable supply bay as an expansion option.
No, SFE2000-G5 uses one cooling fan and is not a fanless switch. Its maximum acoustic rating is 50 dB, which matters when the chassis would sit near occupied desks. Specify a location that accommodates fan noise rather than treating the unit as silent desktop equipment.
SFE2000P-G5 supplies PoE on its access ports, while SFE2000-G5 does not supply endpoint power. The powered model supports 15.4W delivery on 12 ports simultaneously. Both are discontinued legacy models: the powered version serves existing PoE installations, while the non-PoE version fits separately powered endpoints.
SFE2010-G5 has 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, compared with 24 on SFE2000-G5. Both are discontinued members of the Small Business managed switching range. For legacy replacements, the higher-density model addresses more endpoint connections in one chassis, while SFE2000-G5 retains the smaller access-port count.
SGE2000 uses Gigabit copper endpoint interfaces, whereas SFE2000-G5 uses 10/100 Mbps access interfaces. Both are discontinued members of the Small Business managed switching range. The SGE2000 configuration fits legacy installations retaining Gigabit endpoints; SFE2000-G5 fits installations whose access connections remain Fast Ethernet.
