Powered Access Connectivity With Copper and Fiber Uplinks

SG300-52P-K9-NA is a managed Layer 2+ Gigabit Ethernet switch with 48 PoE+ access ports, two dedicated copper Gigabit uplinks and two copper/SFP combo uplinks. Each combo connection uses either its copper interface or its fiber interface, not both simultaneously. The fixed configuration occupies one rack unit and serves small-business access networks connecting computers, IP phones, wireless access points and surveillance endpoints. Within the Cisco 300 Series, this model combines powered endpoint connectivity with a choice of copper or fiber connections upstream. The discontinued SG300-52MP-K9 provides a larger 740W PoE allocation for installations retaining that generation of hardware. Uplinks are built into the chassis rather than supplied through a removable network card.

Technical Details

104 Gbps switching capacity supports the switch's wire-speed, nonblocking architecture. 77.38 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets, providing a separate measure of packet-processing capacity. 375W of shared PoE power must be allocated across the connected powered devices rather than treated as an individual allowance for every port. Static IPv4 routing supports communication between configured networks, with 512 static routes and 128 IP interfaces; dynamic route exchange is not part of this feature set. SG300-52P-K9-NA carries 128 MB of memory and 16 MB of flash for its embedded software and configuration. A 16384-entry MAC address table supports endpoint learning, while STP, RSTP and MSTP provide spanning-tree operation. The Cisco Small Business feature set also includes DHCP relay and an IPv4 DHCP server for address assignment across configured scopes. Browser-based administration and a command-line interface provide local configuration paths, with SSH available for remote command access.

Ordering

Specify new sealed or certified refurbished SG300-52P-K9-NA, then confirm quantity, destination power cord and required optics on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, plus 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's original limited lifetime coverage ended October 31, 2023. For enterprise and volume orders, PO is accepted, Net-30 is available for government, and RMA with advance replacement is supported across UK, EU, US and MEA regional operations.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

Discontinued replacement chain

SG300-52P-K9-NA requires a legacy-hardware purchasing decision: sales ended October 4, 2018. Its direct replacement, SG350-52P-K9-NA, and the following CBS350-48P-4G-NA are also discontinued; the current migration endpoint is C1300-48P-4G.

Shared endpoint power allocation

SG300-52P-K9-NA needs an endpoint power schedule before ordering: 48 × 30W = 1440W, exceeding its shared 375W budget. Specify simultaneous demand rather than assuming every powered port can supply its individual maximum.

Separate fiber optic selection

SG300-52P-K9-NA fiber connections require separately ordered MGBSX1 multimode or MGBLX1 single-mode optics. Specify the fiber type and remote-end connection before ordering, because each combo pair permits only one active medium.

Best For

Multi-Site Configuration Standardization

When multiple locations must retain a common configuration approach, text-editable configuration files and SCP autoconfiguration support preparation before shipment. CLI privilege levels 1, 7 and 15 separate administrative access. Define the configuration file, authentication settings and management addressing for each location before placing the purchase order.

Replacement Unit Staging

When preparing a replacement before an equipment change, dual firmware images and dual configuration files provide separate staging resources. A mirror configuration preserves the latest stable configuration. Specify the required firmware baseline, prepare the intended startup configuration and check the reboot sequence before ordering the replacement quantity.

Existing Link Consolidation

When consolidating existing Ethernet connections into an aggregated design, LACP supports eight groups with eight active ports per group and 16 candidate ports for each dynamic group. Identify the participating interfaces and remote equipment configuration before procurement, then specify the required connection count and matching cabling on the order.

Not Suitable If

Continuing Cisco hardware service coverage

Cisco service ended October 31, 2023, so this model cannot satisfy an ongoing manufacturer-support requirement. C1300-48P-4G is the current endpoint of its replacement chain.

Individual uplinks faster than Gigabit

The fixed uplinks support Gigabit Ethernet, and the chassis has no removable uplink card bay. Requirements above 1G per uplink need different switch hardware.

Is SG300-52P-K9-NA end of life?

SG300-52P-K9-NA is discontinued, with end of sale on October 4, 2018, and the last date of Cisco support on October 31, 2023. Cisco service has ended. Purchasing remaining hardware does not restart manufacturer support, so the order must distinguish reseller hardware coverage from Cisco service entitlement.

What conditions and warranties does ORM Systems offer for SG300-52P-K9-NA?

ORM Systems offers SG300-52P-K9-NA new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Can SG300-52P-K9-NA route between VLANs?

SG300-52P-K9-NA supports static IPv4 routing between configured networks, including VLAN interfaces, with 512 static routes and 128 IP interfaces. Its routing capability is static rather than dynamically exchanged. Define the required subnets, interfaces and next hops before selecting this model for an inter-VLAN routing role.

What rack space does the Cisco 300 Series SG300-52P require?

The Cisco 300 Series SG300-52P occupies one rack unit and measures 440 mm wide, 44.45 mm high and 350 mm deep, with a weight of 5.3 kg. Four fans provide cooling. Check usable rack depth, cable clearance and the 0°C to 45°C operating range before installation.

Does the SG300-52P have redundant power supplies?

The SG300-52P uses a fixed internal AC power supply rather than redundant plug-in power modules. Its input range is 100-240V AC, and maximum published consumption with PoE is 473.62W.
