IE-3500-8T3X-A is a fanless Layer 3 industrial switch with eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 access ports and three fixed 1G/10G SFP+ uplinks. Network Advantage supports advanced routed deployments, while the DIN-rail form factor places the hardware in industrial control cabinets rather than a full-width rack chassis. Independently powered endpoints connect through the data-only copper ports; IE-3500-8U3X-A changes those eight connections to PoE/PoE+/4PPoE for Ethernet-powered equipment. The Cisco IE3500 Rugged Series serves factory automation, process control and transportation networks with hardened Ethernet hardware. Fixed fiber interfaces provide upstream connectivity without a removable uplink card, while the IE3500 family supports a compatible copper or fiber expansion module for additional endpoint connections. The base configuration combines Gigabit device access with faster fiber links to upstream equipment.
IE-3500-8T3X-A price is $5,872.65, a 27.7% saving from the Cisco list price of $8,126.00. IE-3500-8T3X-A is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and ISIS support dynamic routing under Network Advantage, with PIM-SM, PIM-DM and MSDP available for multicast designs. Line-rate forwarding covers all ports and packet sizes, while eight egress queues provide separate scheduling resources for different traffic classes. IE-3500-8T3X-A supports 24000 unicast MAC addresses for bridged endpoints and 32 switch virtual interfaces for inter-VLAN connectivity. Administrators can allocate 1024 active VLANs from 4096 VLAN IDs when planning segmentation. 5.1 GB of user-accessible flash stores system images, configuration data and other files. VRF-lite separates routing instances, and MACsec-256 provides encryption for link traffic. SNMPv3, NETCONF and RESTCONF support monitoring and automation; SSH provides protected CLI access. RSTP, MSTP and LACP cover loop prevention and link aggregation, while REP and MRP serve industrial ring designs. These functions combine conventional Ethernet administration with industrial network controls. HSR, PRP and DLR are not supported on this variant.
ORM Systems supplies IE-3500-8T3X-A new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, a clean boot, optics bay recognition and module bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify this switch's condition, quantity and required accessories on the purchase order. ORM warranties are up to a three-year extended warranty for new units and up to one year for certified refurbished units, separate from Cisco's five-year limited hardware warranty; 30-day returns apply to every condition, terms apply. For enterprise and volume orders, PO is accepted, Net-30 is available for government, and RMA with advance replacement covers UK, EU, US and MEA.

When a control cabinet needs additional data connections without another managed base unit, IEM-3500-16T= adds 16 Gigabit copper ports and brings the system to 27 ports. The module consumes 11W separately from the base. Include IEM-3500-16T= and its additional DC power requirement on the purchase order.
When staging packet capture or other sustained write operations, internal flash on IE3500 Rugged switches is intended for 1 GB of writes per day. SD-IE-16GB= provides removable storage and is not included with the standard switch. Specify SD-IE-16GB= and direct write-intensive workloads to that media before deployment.
When preparing an industrial cabinet for a remote-site rollout, the IE3500 Rugged chassis must be installed vertically. Two alarm inputs and one alarm output relay can interface with external cabinet contacts or signaling devices. Specify the mounting orientation and alarm wiring requirements before releasing the installation purchase order.
PoE-powered endpoints on access ports
IE-3500-8T3X-A supplies no endpoint power and cannot accept PoE expansion modules. IE-3500-8U3X-A provides eight PoE/PoE+/4PPoE access ports with a shared 480W budget.
HSR, PRP or DLR redundancy
IE-3500-8T3X-A lacks HSR, PRP and DLR. IE-3505-8T3S-A supports those functions but changes the three fixed fiber uplinks from 10G capability to 1G.
Native multigigabit copper access
IE-3500-8T3X-A limits built-in RJ-45 access to 1Gbps. IEM-3500-4MU= adds 2.5G access only to PoE-capable hosts, so that module cannot provide a multigigabit upgrade here.

IE-3500-8T3X-A identifies an IE3500 modular industrial switch with eight Gigabit copper access ports, three 10G fiber uplinks and Network Advantage. IE-3500 names the base family; 8 gives the copper port count; T indicates data-only copper connections; 3X identifies three 10G uplinks; A specifies Network Advantage.
IE-3500-8T3X-A supports an on-device web UI, CLI access through SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 and USB-C console connections, on-premises Catalyst Center, and Meraki dashboard cloud management. SNMPv3, NETCONF and RESTCONF support monitoring or automation. Meraki management requires Cisco IOS XE 26.1.1 or later and its corresponding management license.
IE-3500-8T3X-A operates from dual external DC inputs, with a 12-48V DC nominal range and a 9.6-60V DC absolute range. Base consumption is 37W at 12V DC. PWR-IE50W-AC= is a 50W DIN-rail supply option; include expansion-module consumption when sizing each external power feed.
IE-3500-8T3X-A provides three fixed SFP+ uplinks supporting 1G or 10G operation. Supported 10G choices include industrial-temperature SFP-10G-SR-I= for multimode fiber and commercial-temperature SFP-10G-LR= for single-mode links reaching 10 km. Match the transceiver to the fiber plant and cabinet temperature; commercial-temperature optics require switch temperature derating.
IE-3500-8T3X-A accepts the non-PoE IEM-3500-8T=, IEM-3500-16T=, IEM-3500-8S=, IEM-3500-6T2S= and IEM-3500-14T2S= expansion modules. These offer copper, fiber or mixed connections. One expansion module attaches to the base. PoE modules require a PoE-capable host, so they cannot add endpoint power to this model.
Yes, IE-3500-8T3X-A supports Layer 3 routing through Network Advantage, including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and ISIS for IPv4 and IPv6. VRF-lite separates routing instances, while PIM-SM, PIM-DM and MSDP support multicast routing designs. These network functions belong to the perpetual tier rather than the optional Catalyst Center management subscription.
IE-3500-8T3X-A includes perpetual Network Advantage. Optional Cisco DNA Essentials and DNA Advantage subscriptions offer three-, five- and seven-year terms for Catalyst Center; they are not required for standalone switching. Meraki cloud management uses Enterprise LIC-IE3500-E or Advantage LIC-IE3500-A licensing. Network Advantage remains distinct from these management licenses.
IE-3500-8U3X-A provides eight PoE/PoE+/4PPoE access ports, while IE-3500-8T3X-A has eight non-PoE copper access ports. The powered version supplies a shared 480W PoE budget; the non-PoE model supplies no endpoint power. Choose the powered model for Ethernet-powered devices and the data-only model for independently powered equipment.
IE-3500-8T3X-A includes Network Advantage, whereas IE-3500-8T3X-E includes Network Essentials. Network Advantage adds BGP, EIGRP, ISIS, VRF-lite and advanced multicast routing to the Essentials feature set. Select Advantage when those functions are specified; Essentials covers deployments needing its supported switching and routing functions without the additional Advantage features.
IE-3500-8T3X-A has three 1G/10G SFP+ uplinks, while IE-3500-8T3S-A has three 100M/1G SFP uplinks. Both configurations carry Network Advantage, so the difference here is the fiber interface speed. The X variant serves 10G fiber connections; the S variant fits links requiring Fast Ethernet or Gigabit transceivers.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for IE3500 Rugged. IE-3500-8T3X-A remains an available industrial switch. Orders should retain the exact hardware and Network Advantage suffix rather than substituting another IE3500 configuration with a different endpoint-power capability, fiber uplink speed or network license tier.
ORM Systems offers IE-3500-8T3X-A new sealed with up to a three-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to a one-year warranty. Cisco's five-year limited hardware warranty is separate from ORM coverage. Both ORM conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested.
Cisco orders of IE-3500-8T3X-A with Network Advantage placed on or after August 23, 2025 include three-year Advantage licenses for Cisco Cyber Vision and Secure Equipment Access, covering 24 endpoints. Additional endpoints require separate licenses. These time-limited security entitlements are distinct from the switch's perpetual Network Advantage network license.
