SG300-28SFP-K9-EU combines 26 dedicated Gigabit SFP interfaces and two fixed Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks in a managed fiber switch. Layer 2+ functionality accommodates local routing between network segments, while the non-PoE configuration serves connections that do not require switch-supplied endpoint power. The Cisco 300 Series positions this hardware for small-business networks, with a full-width rack chassis rather than a compact desktop enclosure. Each combo interface accepts either its copper connection or its SFP connection, not both simultaneously. The discontinued SG300-28PP-K9 differs by providing 24 PoE+ copper ports for powered endpoints. For an existing optical installation, the Small Business 300 fiber configuration preserves the distinction between dedicated fiber connections and shared-media uplinks without implying that additional copper ports or expansion modules are installed.

56 Gbps switching capacity supports wire-speed switching across the chassis. 41.67 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets, giving a separate packet-processing figure for traffic sizing. 512 static IPv4 routes and 128 IP interfaces bound local routing configurations; interfaces can be assigned to physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLANs, or loopbacks. SG300-28SFP-K9-EU provides 128 MB of DRAM and 16 MB of flash for its managed software environment. An 8 Mb packet buffer is shared dynamically across ports rather than reserved equally for each connection. Address learning accommodates 16384 MAC entries, while 4096 simultaneous VLANs provide segmentation capacity. STP/RSTP/MSTP support loop-control configurations, and LACP supports aggregated connections. The SG300-28SFP also supports an IPv4 DHCP server and DHCP relay for addressing across network segments. Fixed Gigabit interfaces set the connection-speed ceiling; 10G uplinks cannot be added through a removable network module.
ORM Systems offers SG300-28SFP-K9-EU new sealed or certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, optics bay recognition, PSU status, fan status, and clean boot. Firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default; Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty and service ended October 31, 2023. Specify condition and optics on the PO: ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. POs are accepted, with Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement; enterprise and volume orders can use UK, EU, US, and MEA regional stock and RMA coverage.

During predeployment staging or fault isolation, traffic capture can be required before a replacement switch joins the network. Port mirroring supports eight source ports directed to one destination in a single session. Specify the capture connection and confirm that this single-session arrangement covers the test plan before the PO.
When several existing locations need the same replacement configuration, text-editable configuration files can be downloaded to another switch and transferred through SCP. CLI privilege levels 1, 7, and 15 support separate access roles. Specify the approved configuration file and administrator access requirements before placing the multi-unit PO.
10G uplinks to distribution
Fixed network interfaces are limited to Gigabit Ethernet; removable network modules cannot add faster uplinks. A distribution connection requiring 10G needs a different switch.
Power delivery to connected endpoints
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU is non-PoE and cannot power attached phones, cameras, or access points. A deployment requiring switch-supplied endpoint power needs a separate powered switching solution.
Current Cisco hardware service
Cisco service ended October 31, 2023. The replacement chain terminates at discontinued CBS350-24S-4G-EU, with no current migration product available at the end of that chain.

SG300-28SFP-K9-EU identifies a 28-port Gigabit managed fiber switch in the Cisco Small Business 300 family. SG300 denotes the Gigabit family, 28 the total logical ports, and SFP the fiber-oriented configuration. Retain the complete K9-EU ending when matching the full order identifier on a purchase order.
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU is managed through an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, serial console, SSH or Telnet CLI, and SNMP versions 1, 2c, or 3. The browser interface includes a local dashboard. Legacy integrations include Cisco Small Business FindIT Network and Cisco OnPlus; those integrations are not an entitlement to an active hosted service.
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU is discontinued: end of sale was October 4, 2018, and Cisco support ended October 31, 2023. The first replacement, SG350-28SFP-K9-EU, is also discontinued, as is the later CBS350-24S-4G-EU. That fiber replacement chain has no current migration product, so a new purchase does not restore Cisco service.
ORM Systems offers SG300-28SFP-K9-EU new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on refurbished units. Both conditions have 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty and service ended October 31, 2023.
The SG300-28SFP has 28 usable network ports: 26 dedicated Gigabit SFP ports and two Gigabit combo ports. Each combo port shares one RJ-45 connector with one SFP slot, with only one medium active at a time. Connecting both media does not create an additional usable port.
MGBLX1 and MGBLH1 are supported Gigabit single-mode optics for the SG300-28SFP, with respective reaches of 10 km and 40 km. MGBSX1 supports Gigabit multimode connections. Match installed fiber, optical characteristics, and the remote interface before specifying individual transceiver PIDs; inserting a transceiver does not add a logical port.
Yes, SG300-28SFP-K9-EU supports static IPv4 routing with 512 routes and 128 IP interfaces, placing the switch in the Layer 2+ category. Routed interfaces can use physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLAN interfaces, or loopbacks. Size inter-VLAN routing around those limits rather than assuming a broader dynamic-routing feature set.
The SG300-28SFP uses a fixed internal 100-240V AC supply and does not accept a second internal PSU. Maximum system consumption is 28.2W at 220V. Specify the matching AC power connection rather than an external adapter; the unit does not provide PoE output through its copper interfaces.
Yes, SG300-28SFP-K9-EU is a 1U rack-mount switch measuring 440 mm wide, 44.45 mm high, and 257 mm deep. The chassis uses two fans and operates from 0°C to 50°C. Its 614062-hour MTBF figure is rated at 50°C; allow rack space and ventilation rather than assuming a fanless desktop design.
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU is non-PoE, whereas the discontinued SG300-28PP-K9 supplies 24 PoE+ copper ports with a 180W budget. These are legacy configurations rather than current Cisco offerings. The fiber model suits maintenance of an existing optical network; the PoE+ model matches an installed copper network with powered endpoints.
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU has an internal AC supply, while the discontinued SG300-10SFP-K9 uses an external AC adapter. Both are fiber-oriented legacy switches, but their power arrangements differ. The internal-supply model matches existing rack installations; the external-adapter model belongs in replacement planning for its own compact installed hardware.
SG300-28SFP-K9-EU has 28 logical ports, while the discontinued SRW2048-K9, sold as SG300-52, has 52. Both belong to the discontinued Cisco 300 Series. The 28-port model matches an existing connection map of that size; the 52-port version addresses higher-density legacy installations and is not a port-for-port substitute.
