WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ is a managed Layer 3 aggregation switch with back-to-front airflow, 32 fixed 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ interfaces, IP Base licensing, and an optional uplink-module bay. The Cisco Catalyst 4500-X occupies one rack unit and aggregates fiber connections rather than supplying power to copper endpoints. C4KX-NM-8SFP+ adds eight interfaces when additional uplink connections are required; the base configuration does not include that module. Its fixed aggregation architecture serves space-constrained campus networks. The discontinued WS-C4500X-32SFP+ differs in cooling direction, using front-to-back airflow instead. Specify the airflow variant independently of port density and software tier.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ price for new stock is $8,976.44. WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ refurb price is $1,741.09. WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

800 Gbps switching capacity establishes the chassis throughput ceiling, while 250 Mpps forwarding supports hardware IPv4 routing and Layer 2 bridging. OSPFv2 and OSPFv3 permit one instance each and 1000 dynamically learned routes under IP Base; RIPv1, RIPv2, and EIGRP Stub provide additional routing options. WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ combines 4 GB of memory with 32 MB of shared packet buffering for control-plane operation and traffic bursts. A 55000-entry MAC table bounds Layer 2 address learning. STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP support loop control and link aggregation. BGP and IS-IS are not enabled by the included license tier.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; every condition has 30-day returns, terms apply. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, optics recognition, and clean boot; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify the condition, C4KX-PWR-750AC-F or C4KX-PWR-750DC-F, and accessories on the order because the base chassis ships without power supplies. Enterprise and volume procurement accepts POs, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US, and MEA operations.

When replacing discontinued ME-4924-10GE or WS-C4928-10GE hardware, this model is a named migration option. Both older products reached end-of-sale on February 28, 2013. Treat replacement as a configuration change rather than assuming existing optics and cooling arrangements transfer; specify the complete fiber-link and airflow requirements before the PO.
When adding hardware to a matching Virtual Switching System deployment, reserve Ethernet interfaces for the virtual switch link. The connection supports 1G or 10G and a maximum of eight links. Cisco IOS XE 3.4.0SG is the minimum VSS release; confirm software compatibility and interface allocation before ordering inter-switch connectivity.
When replenishing cooling spares for an installed back-to-front chassis, specify C4KX-FAN-F rather than the opposite-airflow assembly. Operation can continue with four fans running after one failure, but another fan failure removes that operating allowance. Check the installed airflow direction and include matching C4KX-FAN-F spares on the maintenance PO.
Active Cisco hardware service coverage
Cisco hardware service ended October 31, 2025. No direct replacement is designated for this back-to-front model, so another condition of the same part does not restore coverage.
BGP routing under IP Base
IP Base excludes BGP, IS-IS, full EIGRP, and VRF-lite. Enterprise Services entitlement is required for enhanced routing; the included software tier does not enable those capabilities.
Front-to-back chassis airflow
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ moves air from the power-supply side toward the port side. Its cooling direction cannot substitute for a front-to-back chassis in a prescribed rack ventilation arrangement.

WS-C4500X identifies Catalyst 4500-X, F denotes back-to-front cooling, 32 gives the fixed port count, and SFP+ identifies the 10 Gigabit pluggable interfaces. WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ includes IP Base and excludes power supplies; those configuration details are not separate license or power-supply suffixes in this part number.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ supports Cisco IOS XE CLI management through the serial console and remote SSH or Telnet, plus SNMP management. A dedicated Ethernet management interface provides out-of-band access. Cisco IOS XE 3.11.3aE and later enables SSH by default and disables Telnet by default.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ is discontinued, with end-of-sale on October 30, 2020, and last support on October 31, 2025. Cisco hardware service and security support have ended. No direct replacement is designated for this back-to-front part; a replacement mapping for another airflow variant does not apply automatically.
New sealed WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ units carry ORM warranty options up to 3-year extended, while certified refurbished units carry up to 1 year. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty no longer provides coverage because support ended October 31, 2025.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ includes permanent IP Base licensing, while Enterprise Services requires activation entitlement for enhanced routing. Cisco ONE provided alternative software packaging. DNA Essentials and DNA Advantage were separate term-based add-ons and reached end-of-sale September 5, 2023; confirm the installed entitlement rather than assuming a subscription supplies Enterprise Services.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ is a named replacement for discontinued ME-4924-10GE and WS-C4928-10GE switches, both of which reached end-of-sale February 28, 2013. Those migration relationships identify a replacement option, not identical port arrangements. Review the fiber interfaces and back-to-front cooling requirements before carrying an older configuration into a replacement order.
The 32-port Catalyst 4500-X accepts C4KX-NM-8SFP+ to add eight 1G or 10G interfaces in its removable uplink bay. The module is optional rather than installed in the base configuration. An unused bay requires C4KX-NM-BLANK= to preserve chassis airflow, so confirm the module or blank-panel configuration with the order.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ uses back-to-front cooling, while discontinued WS-C4500X-32SFP+ uses front-to-back cooling. Both are 32-port 10G IP Base configurations without included power supplies. The back-to-front version suits racks requiring intake at the power-supply side; the other variant suits the opposite ventilation direction. Neither is an active-service replacement.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ provides 32 fixed 10G interfaces, whereas discontinued WS-C4500X-F-16SFP+ provides 16. Both use back-to-front airflow and IP Base licensing. Buyers maintaining more fiber connections need the higher-density chassis; smaller existing configurations can use the lower-density variant for like-for-like sparing, but neither retains Cisco hardware service.
WS-C4500X-F-32SFP+ includes IP Base, while discontinued WS-C4500X-40X-ES includes Enterprise Services for enhanced routing. The latter also has 40 ports and front-to-back airflow, so it is not a same-chassis license substitution. Existing deployments needing basic routing use IP Base; configurations requiring enhanced routing need the appropriate Enterprise Services entitlement.
