CGS-2520-16S-8PC is a fanless, managed Layer 2 industrial switch combining 16 Fast Ethernet SFP access ports with eight 10/100Mbps copper PoE+ ports and two fixed Gigabit Ethernet combo uplinks. Each uplink uses either its copper connection or its SFP connection, not both simultaneously. LAN Base is included for switching, traffic classification, and access security. The Cisco 2520 Connected Grid Switch occupies one rack unit and serves utility communications connecting intelligent electronic devices, distributed controllers, IP phones, and wireless access points. Its mixed fiber and powered-copper layout distinguishes it from CGS-2520-24TC, which provides 24 copper Fast Ethernet access ports without PoE. The CGS 2520 also supports reverse cabling and status monitoring from either side of the chassis.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC price for new stock is $3,409.35. CGS-2520-16S-8PC refurb price is $733.09. CGS-2520-16S-8PC is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

8.8 Gbps switching capacity handles traffic across the fixed interfaces, while 6.55 Mpps forwarding supports line-rate packet processing. 65W of shared PoE power is available with a single PWR-RGD-AC-DC or PWR-RGD-LOW-DC; installing two supported supplies increases the allocation to 170W. Power must therefore be assigned across connected endpoints rather than treating each powered port as an independently available maximum. CGS-2520-16S-8PC carries 256 MB of DRAM, and 128 MB of its installed SD flash capacity is enabled. An 8000-entry MAC table supports address learning across segmented networks. Administrators can configure 1005 simultaneous VLANs and 128 spanning-tree instances. REP and Flexlink support ring and hub-and-spoke recovery, while LACP supports link aggregation. Web-based Device Manager, Cisco Configuration Professional, CLI access, Cisco Prime LMS, and SNMP provide configuration and monitoring paths. IP routing is not included in the supplied image; routed operation requires the optional IP Services image.
ORM Systems offers CGS-2520-16S-8PC in new sealed and certified refurbished condition. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with every port linked at rated speed, PoE output verified under load on every powered port, optics bay recognition checked, firmware verified, and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the condition, quantity, power supply selection, optics, and software requirement on the PO; new units include up to a 3-year extended warranty, certified refurbished units include up to 1 year, and returns are 30 days on every condition, terms apply. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA coverage across UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When a substation rollout must bring cabinet conditions into network monitoring, four external alarm inputs and alarm relay contacts provide connections beyond Ethernet traffic. Door-open events can be included in the monitoring arrangement. Specify the required alarm wiring and external alert connections before placing the equipment order.
When purchasing an operational spare, the removable SD card can transfer an existing configuration to a replacement chassis without manual reconfiguration. MEM-SD-1GB-RGD= provides the spare card option. Because the card contains configuration, credentials, and security keys, specify card inclusion and authorized handling before the purchase order.
When staging equipment for an existing industrial network, frame-size requirements need separate checks on the access and uplink interfaces. Gigabit Ethernet bridging supports a 9000-byte MTU, while Fast Ethernet bridging and routing support 1998 bytes. Confirm the required frame sizes and interface assignments before releasing the purchase order.
Gigabit speeds on copper access ports
Copper access ports stop at 100Mbps. IE-9310-16P8S4X-E provides Gigabit PoE+ copper access, but changes the configuration to 16 copper access ports and eight Gigabit SFP access ports.
10G uplinks to the industrial backbone
The fixed combo uplinks stop at 1G and cannot accept an uplink expansion card. IE-9310-16P8S4X-E provides four 10G SFP uplinks with a different access-port configuration.
Eight simultaneous 30W powered endpoints
Eight endpoints drawing 30W require 240W. The dual-supply PoE allocation stops at 170W, so this configuration cannot deliver maximum PoE+ power to every powered port simultaneously.

CGS-2520-16S-8PC identifies a Cisco 2520 Connected Grid Switch with 16 Fast Ethernet SFP access ports and eight copper Fast Ethernet PoE+ access ports. CGS-2520 identifies the switch family, 16S identifies the SFP access configuration, and 8PC identifies the powered-copper configuration. Two Gigabit combo uplinks complete the hardware configuration.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC supports web-based Device Manager, Cisco Configuration Professional, CLI access through console or SSH and Telnet, Cisco Prime LMS, and SNMP management. Local console access uses RJ-45 or USB mini-Type B. SSH requires the cryptographic software image, while SNMP supports centralized monitoring and configuration workflows.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC reached end of sale on January 11, 2022, and its last date of hardware support is January 31, 2027. Security maintenance ended January 10, 2025. New service attachment ended January 11, 2023, and service-contract renewal ended April 11, 2026, limiting remaining Cisco support eligibility.
New sealed and certified refurbished CGS-2520-16S-8PC units carry ORM warranties of up to 3 years extended and up to 1 year, respectively. Returns are 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's limited hardware warranty remains separate, subject to entitlement, and cannot continue beyond January 31, 2027.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC includes LAN Base and supports an optional IP Services upgrade through S252ILK9-12253EX=. LAN Base supplies the switching feature set. IP Services adds routed interfaces, dynamic routing, VRF-Lite, and policy-based routing. Specify the required image explicitly when purchasing equipment for a routed industrial network.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC provides a shared 65W PoE budget with one supported supply and 170W with two supported supplies. Each powered copper port supports 15.4W PoE or 30W PoE+. The aggregate budget remains the limiting factor, so eight ports cannot all receive 30W simultaneously, even with both supplies installed.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC has two fixed Gigabit combo uplinks, each shared between copper and SFP connections. GLC-LX-SM-RGD= is a supported Gigabit fiber option. The 16 Fast Ethernet SFP access slots use their own supported optics, including GLC-FE-100FX-RGD=; the access slots do not become Gigabit ports when fitted with different optics.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC accepts PWR-RGD-AC-DC for nominal 100-240V AC or 100-250V DC input, or PWR-RGD-LOW-DC for nominal 24-60V DC input. One supply must be selected when ordering. A second supported supply can use a different voltage type and adds redundancy plus additional shared PoE capacity.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC can run OSPF and BGPv4 only with the optional IP Services image, not its included LAN Base image. IP Services also adds EIGRP, IS-IS, static routing, RIP versions 1 and 2, and multicast routing. Routing requirements therefore need an explicit software upgrade on the order.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC combines 16 fiber Fast Ethernet access ports with eight copper PoE+ access ports, whereas CGS-2520-24TC has 24 non-PoE copper Fast Ethernet access ports. Both have two Gigabit combo uplinks and are discontinued. The former serves mixed fiber and powered-copper requirements; the latter serves existing copper-only connections.
CGS-2520-16S-8PC has two 1G combo uplinks, while IE-9310-16P8S4X-E has four 10G SFP uplinks. The replacement chain passes through the discontinued IE-4010-16S12P before reaching IE-9310-16P8S4X-E. The older switch suits maintaining existing 1G connections; the current replacement addresses purchases requiring 10G backbone connections and changes the access-port configuration.
The Cisco 2520 Connected Grid Switch mounts in a rack as a 1U chassis measuring 44.5 mm high, 445 mm wide, and 356 mm deep. RM-RGD-19IN= is the spare rack-mount kit. The PoE model weighs 4.5 kg without power supplies, so installed supply weight must be considered separately.
The Cisco 2520 Connected Grid Switch has enclosure-dependent temperature limits, including -40°C to 60°C in a sealed enclosure and -40°C to 70°C in a vented enclosure. Installed optics can reduce the permitted maximum temperature. Select the enclosure arrangement and SFP temperature rating together rather than treating the chassis maximum as unconditional.
